Tomatoes are botanically a fruit, and culinarilly a vegitable. The term vegitable in everyday conversation is a cultural one, based on culinary culture, and not science.
Oat milk isn't scientifically a type of milk, but culinarilly we call it milk, because we use it like milk.
We use different language at the dinner table than we do in a lab.
It's like how you change your language based on of you're at a birthday party, or a funeral.
Neither are wrong in and of themself, but using the wrong one in the wrong place can lead to awkward situations.
So in the lab, tomatoes are a fruit, but calling them a fruit at the dinner table is like saying "I'm sorry for your loss" at a birthday party 🎉
