Is It Possible to Beat Minecraft While All Dirt Is Lava? -Minecraft Challenge
punching down your very first tree burrowing into the earth to take shelter from the nightly zombie apocalypse tilling the soil that you might plant within it the seeds of your future harvest luring livestock across the plains with intentions to ensnare them for your own benefits i ask what do all these minecraft moments have in common the answer is the ground itself or even more specifically the very dirt beneath your feet during each of these situations i now ask a follow-up what becomes of this minecraft in a world with all this dirt displaced by lava is it possible to beat minecraft while all dirt is lava [Music] today we find ourselves with a very simple set of rules for the only rules in play are that we must be in survival mode the whole time and we aren’t allowed to use any commands so in essence it’s just a standard pure survival mode playthrough with of course an end goal of defeating the end dragon and we’re free to use any action strategy or tactic that typically falls within those parameters to make that happen any extra limitations imposed on us will be imposed by the world itself that world will have standard generation structures and a bonus chest i then made sure that a 5 600 by 5600 play area was generated by flying grounded in creative mode but i assure you i did not affect anything in grid mode just generated the terrain with the whole play area generated it’s now time to add the lava to achieve this i utilize the world editing software amulet to painstakingly replace all instances of dirt coarse dirt grass podzol mycelium farmland and paths with lava after all that this is the world we are left with oh by the way as i’m sure you can tell we do indeed have fire spreading on in fact all the game rules are still at their default settings but that one in particular seemed appropriate to highlight given its ramifications another note is that we are playing on the as of right now most recent java version of minecraft version 1.16.5 with the world created let us see what we can make of this lava landscape we spawn in this world at the very edge of one of the few biomes that is somewhat hospitable to us a desert obviously deserts have their own issues like lack of trees but hey we aren’t burning live so that’s something we now turn our attention to our bonus chest which overall has some pretty good stuff in it most notable for our purposes is a decent little quantity of wood it’s certainly not enough to feel secure in our supply of indefinitely but it is a nice boon to help us kickstart our endeavor having extracted everything of use from the chest we now turn our attention on this desert as a whole this one bio may be about the only lava-free zone in hundreds of blocks and will as such in all likelihood be our domain for the foreseeable future ironically enough an oasis of sorts amidst a sea of flags as we explore this desert let us take a moment to discuss the minecraft hierarchy of needs and the unique difficulties this challenge will pose in fulfilling those needs at the base of this hierarchy i would put abundant wood and abundant food these are two things we need to acquire before we can hope to achieve anything greater this is for the self-evident reason that we can’t be particularly effective at more demanding tasks if we are starving or don’t possess the materials to craft even our most basic tools unfortunately i do foresee significant hurdles rising to our acquisition of sustainable instances of these resources in the case of wood i’m pretty sure renewable wood is just completely off the table well yes we could theoretically get a sapling by hurling ourselves into the inferno of a burning forest and breaking some leaves the sad truth is without so much as a speck of dirt present in this entire world we wouldn’t have anywhere to plant it and as such it would prove useless to us so with renewable wood off the table our only real option would be building up a sufficiently large stockpile of finite wood the way i see it in the world there’s four ways this could happen firstly and most risky would be attempting to chop down some trees in a forest as it burns we could theoretically snag some logs this way of course we could also just burn to death or be too slow to reach the forest before it burns down at minimum i don’t think this is worth attempting until we at least have a water bucket another option would be tearing down a village which often contained buildings made of wood unfortunately desert villages don’t have much wood and any villages located in another biome like the plains will in all likelihood have the same lava-based issues as the forest approach overall again not very appealing then there are mine shafts these structures are typically tucked away primarily in stone and thus wouldn’t have the same lava based problems as the previous two approaches if you can find one that is sure mine shafts aren’t incredibly rare or anything but at the same time just randomly running into one before this first chest of wood runs dry is far from a guarantee and then what are you going to do punch your way to a mine shaft i mean technically it’s possible but doesn’t seem very pleasant look if we find one great let’s take advantage of it but i don’t want to build my whole game plan around randomly coming across that just leaves shipwrecks which instead of presenting us with malicious magma instead threaten us with drowning in the depths that being said we can manage drowning risk in fact we already have done so in the past in our ocean only challenge we used a shipwreck there and i think we could use one again the key advantage shipwrecks have over mine shafts is that at least you can see them from the ocean surface and therefore finding one as long as you find an ocean should be a near guarantee i was going to talk about food next but first let’s actually go over what we’ve discovered in the desert so far well after wandering the desert i found a desert temple with as thrilling contents as ever a spider dungeon which contained eight buckets an interesting looking ravine a no joke section of the river that produces infinite cooked salmon so i guess that’s food taken care of there is also a savannah style village that slightly sprawled out into the desert thus allowing me to collect a good quantity of logs from it before it entirely burns down so i guess that’s wood taken care of as well at least for a while oh and let’s not forget about this second desert temple which isn’t terribly useful but it exists that my friends is everything of note in this desert and that is not a bad selection of places if i do say so myself i mean we’ve got our base level needs of food and wood covered so i think it’s likely appropriate to now settle down somewhere and start angling for some more advanced objectives the decision on where to settle was obvious the only option i really even considered was on the coast of cooked salmon river there i erected the great castle the thumbnails as a side note for those curious the way cooked salmon river works is that as a river salmon spawned those salmon are then stupid enough to swim down to the bed of the river which would normally be dirt but it’s actually in this universe lava this both kills and cooks the salmon whose delicious corpses then float to the surface for us to enjoy now you may be thinking wait a minute if water and lava are touching shouldn’t the lava just turn to obsidian normally yes but these blocks haven’t updated since the dirt was replaced with lava what that essentially means is that minecraft so as not to be a complete resource hog doesn’t check the for lack of a better word physics compliance of every flowing or gravity affected block in the game all the time it just kind of assumes hey this for example lava block has been doing just fine existing there for the last several minutes and if nothing’s changed about or around the block since the last time i checked minecraft just assumes that the status quo is fine and dandy and therefore doesn’t even check to see if it should be falling or flowing in this case this is actually something that can happen in regular minecraft world generation with sand and gravel for example so if in this video you see water and lava touching without any reaction or lava just floating in the air that’s why the blocks have not been updated since they were created and as long as a block doesn’t get placed next to them or something else similar doesn’t happen they can theoretically stay like that indefinitely so thank you on updated blocks your cooking is delicious and that’s the essentials taken care of next phase to concern ourselves with is preparing for and then venturing into the nether for the invaluable resources required to craft isa vendor but first how about a standoff with some pillagers that’s right burn to death you worthless vagabonds for i have claimed this curse of lava and turned it on you um how about we get some iron now the ravine proved a decent place to start but soon enough the urge to go deeper could not be ignored this sent us straight into a mine shaft oh i guess these really aren’t that tough to find in any case sufficient iron has indeed been extracted from the earth and consequently i now feel quite safe and confident in entering the nether with all my wonderful iron gear portal construction is no problem we just make use of our buckets and before we note that good old purple portal permits passage to that plane the nether that is and if i’m being perfectly honest this challenge doesn’t really change the nether dynamics at all we after a fair bit of searching find another fortress wherein we murder blazes for their rods we also find that this new warped forest biome is absolutely teeming with endermen which honestly was quite a relief to me so we end up murdering a bunch of them for their pearls and that together gives us all the ingredients we need for eyes of ender and speaking of forests for those of you out of the loop the nether has loads of them these days and so if there was any question left as to whether or not we truly had enough wood to finish this challenge well it’s been answered and the answer is yes upon our return we have more than enough materials to make all the eyes of enter we might need to find the stronghold but we’re still not quite ready to head there and slay the dragon just yet because you see we don’t have a way to slay the dragon yet historically i’ve used a bow in numerous arrows but i’m not thrilled with that proposition this time as we don’t have access to chickens or a skeleton spawner to gain arrows from i do hear though that beds are a pretty decent way to slay the end dragon so perhaps we can make a bunch of those this is where that spider dungeon from earlier comes in with just a bit of digging roofing and water flows we’ve got a rudimentary spider farm on our hands this yields a string which begets wool which begets beds this just leaves one more thing i wish to acquire before venturing out to find the stronghold diamonds so that we may craft a diamond pickaxe in case we need to dig through obsidian to get to the stronghold well that wasn’t too hard all right we’ve got everything we need now all that’s left is to throw an eye of ender at two different locations then use some maths to triangulate the stronghold which should be somewhere around x negative 1560 and z negative 400. we now cross that great magma expanse utilizing the traditional water bucket method when we eventually reach the coordinates we’re lucky enough to have a desert close enough for us to dig down from there and thus not actually need to dig through a bunch of obsidian to get to the stronghold which is indeed right here we enter the end use a bow in about 24 hours that i had acquired from wild skeletons to break the crystals then discover that i had crafted honestly way too many beds turns out you only need like three or four which is a good thing that leads to the ender dragon going down easily which means that it is possible to beat minecraft while all dirt is lava i hope you very much enjoyed this video and if you did please like it comment under it and consider subscribing to this channel you may also want to check out one of my other minecraft challenges as i’ve done quite a few of these at this point and if you have any ideas for future challenges minecraft or otherwise i would love to hear about them in the comments in Wtf This is absolutely possible. No need to handicap yourself with a "bonus chest"
Land mods belike:
👍

I love this guy's mannerisms, truly exquisite.
6:32 "I just wanna talk about food next…"
Rabbit: *instantly starts running away
Try minecraft but in a cave only world
Its pretty tricky I recommend turning up your gamma for it
"All dirt is lava"
Thumbnail; shows grass
BADLANDS VILLAGES BADLANDS VILLAGES BADLANDS VILLAGES
You can collect sticks with dead bushes to make planks, it takes forever but you can get some
You could probably even make a datapack to simply replace dirt with lava as the player loads chunks.
It still somehow feels weird that not even a year after 1.16.5 got released we basically got the most anticipated update ever
Apparently a lot of people don't like the way this guy talks. But honestly I find it weirdly relaxing, these videos help me go to sleep lol
As soon as he said finding a mineshaft was unlikely I knew he would find one
well at least it’s easy to get to the nether
8:57 song?
Wow thatʼs much harder than I imagined when I saw the title; youʼre including grass too. Although renewable wood is still possible if you a) count Nether wood or b) didnʼt change the trader to sell lava buckets instead of podzol
wait
pillager outposts can spawn in deserts
Why not use azalea trees for wood? They also create dirt.
h diufobu ?
Basically the nether
The floor is laver
>Has a water bucket.
>Doesn't try to rush to the edge of a biom to get a sapling.
(Dirt isn't a issue, trust me)
