  1. A "roguelike" to be specific is a type of game where after death you are brought back to the very beginning, with every time you press play being randomly generated

  2. I dont think the current stuff is "fire looking". it looks pretty bad. I dont see any charm in it, atleast early minecraft had its charm in its artstyle. Also "roguelike dungeon crawler" theres so many of them notches current game will be nothing special

  3. My guess is that the game might be a little like the Elder Scrolls of old. But I can't shake the feeling that the overworld might be made in part with procedural generation. Think Spelunky and how its levels are generated using pre-made pieces, but added in procedural patterns. Add on that the clear desire to have some sort of story take place in it. The "levers" in the title make me think Notch (with his shown interest in automation-games like Factorio) might be taking some inspiration from Minecraft's redstone community and adding a similarly versatile system to the one he made all those years ago. All-in-all, the more I think about the game, the more excited I get.

Imagine a voxel-game with a semi-procedurally generated world, a story that sees you becoming a powerful warrior/wizard/…, a cool system to make machines with, and atmospheric creepy dungeons.

  4. Sir Wattles, a “Rogue like” is a game genre (based off an old dos game that used ascii and text to play, called “Rogue”). It has basically turned into a hard core setting where you “carry something over” to the next play. So HOPEFULLY every time you die and lose “everything” , you progressed your …. Um … account? Somehow. They also tend to use “RNG” for a fair amount of gameplay, like looting and maps etc.. I hope this helps clearify “Rogue Like” a bit.
Side note . Rogue Lite is also a genre😅

  5. Personally won't be playing it or anything just due to the negative connotation behind Notch and why he has been quite distanced from the game by Mojang now due to the phobic behavior. Maybe he has changed his thoughts on that matter, but I just can't support him otherwise.

  6. Friendly reminder that Notch has openly been both transphobic and homophobic on several occasions, going as far to describe trans people as: "mentally disabled." I prefer my indie game devs to not be a terminally online creep but maybe that's jus me.
