Why not just use rope? I always have a couple hundred at least from pots and chests before i ever find a cave like this, and it lets you go back up if theres any enemies too strong for you

I would absolutely not recommend a beginner to use a bucket to cave explore for two reasons
1. Rope is 10x better
2. In order to even get a bucket you need to jump into caves.
Ropes are super easy to get for a reason
You could also use a cobweb to clutch
