  1. My opinion on this is kind of backwards, relative to the whole situation, I do think that having a trademark on something in a game owned by a different company is tricky in the first place.

The idea that you can trademark something you created using another company's alrwady existing trademarks, it just seems a bit dodgy to me.

my thing is, Minecraft already exists and for Noobcrew to come out and say "oh by the way, you may own the tools and the foundation but I want to own it now"

I know the argument falls apart when you consider like, photoshop isnt a tool and they dont own the photos you edited however what makes THIS different is the fact that, Microsoft DOES own things like "oak sapling, cobblestone block" etc because it was something they created/obtained from another creator. So in this case, everything Noobcrew used to create Skyblock is already owned and trademarked by Microsoft so, doesn't thet inherently make "Skyblock" a Microsoft trademark as well? I understand the issue here is the name but, again, Microsft completely owns the tools, therefore their creation.

  2. I honestly have no idea why this is framed as though Noobcrew/Mineverse are some kind of bullied underdog. This is like Nintendo trying to trademark "platformer", except Noobcrew doesn't have millions of dollars from toymaking. Skyblock is not a particularly unique idea, mineverse was far from the only server doing it back in the day, and you don't see Sethbling trying to claim ownership over Skygrid even though he doesn't get enough credit for it's creation.

I've used Noobcrew's servers back in the day even before Mineverse and they don't strike me as particularly honourable people, I ran into a lot of complaints about rank pricing and unresolved problems with kits and such. I have no doubt that if the roles were reversed they'd have no problem fighting to keep content they didn't make.

  3. Socialist here, we are not incoded to be selfish. To see a fish drowning on land is to think its nature is to die when youve never seen an ocean. The enemy, goliath here, is capitalism. To say humans are selfish not only betrays the empathy you feel for the little guy, but validates the abuse of them, to call it nature. Drowning.

  4. any minecraft add on / creation got instantly invalidated once the marketplace opened.
so many games have been made better or more enjoyable with the use of mods and such, any many (like minecraft) have used that to their advantage. rarely do companies or game developers go out of their way to promote mods like mojang and Microsoft have for minecraft. But the way they've handled it doesn't bother me at the same extent as it really should have. Resource packs and skins were hardly understandable back then only because those were to aspects of the game that would be somewhat difficult for console gamers to understand how to implement. This being said, anyone who does know how surely can make or use a world download, which is what skyblock was originally. Furthermore, skyblock is such a ridiculously easy map to make, that it's not too uncommon to see people start a skyblock world on a normal survival world or server just by making it from scratch high enough from the ground…
DOING THIS is clearly just the best way to play skyblock now as it keeps the landmark on any world you play on and is a huge slap in the face for anyone who wants to market or sell a map that's basically just 20 blocks up in the sky.
legal or not, it's just straight up rude. it's rude of Microsoft to allow this sort of thing, it's rude to the players and map creators. and above all else it's rude to the players because they're without a doubt being scammed at this point. The argument of minecraft being a game everyone has already bought is irrelevant now and punctuates the need for the people behind this sort of thing to make every small detail in minecraft marketable to the highest extent imaginable. minecarft is a block game, but that doesn't mean every block has real life value like a lego would. Nobody should really be okay with this and I'd be genuinely surprised if anything good can be found in all of this, unless maybe hypixel gets to keep something skyblock related and makes it more easily accessible. which is our best case scenario, really.

  5. bro's even cool w/ them using skyblock, they just don't want them to be using "original skyblock", cuz well, it's not… and they fr said "no, fukc you" : /

  6. Oh no, what is this? A big multi billioner company is doing everything against it's community to get more money? Wonder where i've seen this for thousand times.
