Have you ever wondered what it’d be like for a total noob to play Terraria totally blind? Well that’s what I am aiming to answer today. We don’t get very far, we are just getting started, but the beginning is everything for any game. So how does a totally new player interact with Terraria’s beginning?

    HORRIBLY, I can confirm, when I started playing it was all so confusing, I didn’t even know that the guide told you what you could craft with items, is it just me being dumb or you guys had the same experience?

    Literally 80% of the actual problems they had were because of them being in Expert Mode. The Guide is more than self-sufficient on the first day in Standard Mode and literally tells you all of the first five minute stuff they've been struggling with.

    as someone who introduced to terraria by watching Irish Lads who only knows making funny content by wrecking havoc in-game and being an idiot and also plays minecraft beforehand,…
    I started playing Terraria at v1.4.3.6 and oh boiii, I didn't even know how to craft staff until at my 2 hours of gameplay learning it (that you only need to stand near the crafting table to use it instead of clicking it),
    then killed my first boss (Eye of Cthulhu) after my 24 hours gameplay…
    and you know what is even funnier? I didn't even know that the "GUIDE" npc can tell you how to craft staffs from the materials that you gathered after almost 6 month after I first installed Terraria;
    and I only need 1 week to beat the Minecraft's Dragon when I first started playing it

    i droped terraria 2 times bfr looking up a quick guide and proocedeing to drop 120 hours in the spam of 2 weeks and doing 2 worlds until moonlord at the same time, best 2 weeks in a long time

    I actually figured out how to use a work bench without clicking on it in my first playthrough. My biggest problem was somehow not being able to open my first chest

    I didnt know anything about terraria when my girlfriend convinced me to play

    She was mad that i was pogo jumping on skeletron
    I went to the sky with him and he despawned

    I was laughing hard and she was mad
    After some more time i stopped playing completely

    Im not really in to terraria

    JUST started playing .. i know absolutely nothing. i mean NOTHING. i struggled figuring out how to place blocks. still had the time of my life just digging and finding loot and I played for a few hours straight lol. been watching videos and i now know you have to kill god to win and thats about it

    Genuinely shows how much the tutorial in the Xbox 360 version of Terraria carried me through my first (technically second because I switched to PC before even fighting EoC) playthrough.

    Also don't ask why I played terraria on Xbox 360 while 1.3 was out on PC.

    the mobile version of terrario used to have a tutorial before you could start a world. And considering I tried and failed to play the xbox version before getting the mobile version, I really think it should be part of all versions. Before the tutorial, I had no idea how walls worked, or that they were necessary, I didn't know how to make a house. I rented the xbox version the first time, and it wasn't untill I bought it again that my first ever starter house got walls

    As someone with no Minecraft or Terraria experience it took me an entire night to figure out crafting 💀, a few extra hours to figure out housing for NPC’s and now I’m trying to figure out what I do now 😭 (I started yesterday, so wish me luck)

    To be fair and be by the side of the game, as far as I remember there's this option in the title screen called TUTORIAL
    Although, I don't remember if it is in the PC version, I remember it is in console and portable version
    But if it is in the PC version they REALLY should've played it

    I've got to be honest dude, I don't think Terraria is nearly as unintutive as this video would make people think. Most of us figured it out just fine on our own blind. And more importantly: Your friends are messing up such basic obvious things, refusing to listen to you, and just kinda doing insane things, I don't think it's the game being unintuitive or the Minecraft in them tainting their experience, i'm pretty sure they're just trolling you and pretending to be dumb. Like, how do you mess up a treasure chest? It is like, a gamer's first understood thing. Treasure chest means open it for loot. And opening it is as simple as a right click. And it's in the middle of nowhere. They're just pretending to be dumb is my take.

    i have this friend who i care dearly for, and i got her this game, and when we made a new world to go find more acsesorys and kill the eater of worlds, i said clean up your inventory get rid of everything you wont need,i made the new world and whent to go brake the orbs, and she said im stuck in the tree, i look at her screen via discord to see she took off all of her gear and had literly nothing, bless her heat.

    I started playing Terraria with a friend that also knows nothing of the game. I don't think we got this confused over some of the mechanics lol. Like we've opened chests and figured out eventually where to put doors and how walls work. The hard part was knowing how to progress, because we didn't know if iron was better than gold or how to find more bosses. We also somehow got a meteorite to spawn during our first week, and later on I found out it was something rare. I guess it's mostly the progression that will gatekeep new players, we're having a lot of fun but because we often find places to explore, but we had to follow a progression guide online to know what to do next (even with the Guide's tips).

    tried terraria back in like 2015 and yeah, it really did feel like I needed a wiki to do anything at all, and would need to do a 40 hour "practice run" on a throwaway world to understand enough to explore a new world properly after. simply never wanted to try again

    I started playing with my nephew few days ago and I can say the first thing I did when I saw the trees were cut it right to the stamp and ask if they'd grow back if I left it there. Still very disappointed with the answer.
