Note to those posting a comment with your improved redstone build: YouTube's anti-spam system may delete video links which is unfortunately beyond my control. To be safe, just say in your comment that the video is posted to your channel. I'll be checking this comment section regularly over the next few weeks. Good luck!
UPDATE: I've decided I will pin a comment with ALL the videos I see ranked in order of the best.
unless they changed the mechanics they should work
Lesson of the day : Always archive your download on internet archive when you create something
please make more stuff like this covering the history of creative ideas inMC
"Our EULA is fair and legal!" lmao.
1.12.2 still continuing to be my favorite preferred version by far with it being a key part in getting things to work
"This last version that was made for 1.8, which was still released over 10 years ago though." Whaaa, I swear it only came out a few years ago. Why does an update release date make me feel old?! lmao
Very glad that 1.12.2 still supports beta worlds
i love how the calculator in the modern version acts old with some of the lights flickering, really adds to the vibe that this is over a decade old
You should try the 16 bit ALU some guy made if the world still is able to be downloaded. As far as I'm aware it is the oldest complicated redstone build. It was made in Alpha 1.1.2_01 which is even older than the tic tac toe build you tested.
Welcome back Sal been waiting for a vid to drop
You say wow, yet the earliest circuits never used any block propagation tricks and only used NAND and NOT gates.
You can build anything with only NAND gates.
8:25 Just draw the circuit on paper. Honestly, these redstone contraptions are probably just circuits remade in minecraft.
Not to mention that the classical repeater is just a double NOT gate.
1:57 "total playtime: 4772d"
Thats 13 years. Props to you for using the same launcher for 13 years and not managing to loose your playtime.
i love minecraft
media fire the goat
I dont know if its just me, but when he is using programmer art, i cant tell which version he is on, it looks basically the same, maybe turn it off at least for these kinds of videos? or was it intentional to capture the nostalgia of the machines or something else?
Who is this, antvenom
rather than redstone machines i'm way more curious if the old redstone enabled minigames still works today
I'm still trying to log in to minecraft, what is Microsoft account lol.
if you think it's crazy to make stuff with primitive redstone then you'll be blown away to know that's EXACTLY how a real computer works. pretty much just redstone dust and torches.
Most of those builds were built around simplest redstone mechanics so it's kinda bulletproof for later versions (yes i typed it before watching xD)
3:59 – there's your redstone repeaters 🙂
OK, what video game does the song in the background of pong come from??? I swear it’s like one of the donkey Kong country games. Or maybe a legend of Zelda game. There’s too much noise for me to be able to Shazam it
That music
Of course it will still work if you loaded the game in the same version it was built on. You're practically downloading a map, the calculator doesn't seem that impressive considering it's literally in the same version
honestly that first calculator would still work if it was using a binary addition system, which is fundamental to all computers
👍
Can you make this into a series? There must be hundreds of these.
Just so you know the pong map. Was buggy even when at first released. So I really am not too surprised. It doesn't play nice on modern versions.
Seems like you have win98
The tic-tac-toe with the arm height ladders
Actually I remember Bucky’s Minecraft train station the orginal one broke but someone fixed it then I fixed the 3×3 door T flip flop
I remember in pocket edition doing "redstone alternatives" with cactus, signs, gravel and sand. It was pretty funny. This was before mojang added redstone to Minecraft PE
a video that definitely needs a sequel
I like to think that old redstone builds are like "Hard wired" no update will hopefully never change the behaviour of basic redstone and redstone torch. Unlike droppers, hoppers etc, that could change or a update could remove items from said hoppers etc.
Retrying pong using redstone lamps could be cool! It seems the display is the main problem, so restomodding it could work!
this brings so much nostalgia. the interest i have today in IT is due to these redstone builds
its same reason we only send old computers in to space, fat wires are way more resistant
1.21 changes redstone mechancis with the whole not block updating and such things. tha wou realy break alto more complex builds
POV: You’re the best assassin:
Job Giver: How do you escape if everything requires you leaving a trace?
You: I get abducted by the aliens.
love to hear halo music
Wait until sand and torches with water streams nostalgia hits for the iPhone Minecraft users
