Shimmer is a shiny, pearlescent liquid found in the Aether, a mini-biome which generates in the Underground or Cavern layer, always on the same side of the world as the Jungle. It has a variety of effects on different items and NPCs, triggered through contact. Shimmer is the only liquid that cannot be fished in.
Here are some useful shimmer upgrades in Terraria –
1) Drop any crafted item to get the raw materials back.
2) Drop any fruit to get an Ambrosia.
3) Drop an Angel Statue to get an Aether Monolith.
4) Drop a Life Fruit to get an Aegis fruit.
5) Drop a Life Crystal to get a Vital Crystal.
6) Drop a Mana Crystal to get an Arcane Crystal.
7) Drop a Spell Tome to get the Advanced Combat Techniques Volume 2.
8) Drop Orichalcum Ore to get Mythril Ore and vice versa.
