Legendary Fish Ponds Buffed Now? New Patch Notes – Update 1.6.15

Legendary fish pond output has been tweaked again with patch 1.6.15. How do the new outputs stack up?

We had to rush through this one before the holidays, so I’m sorry if it feels a little less put together than some of the other videos 😂

  1. Me who finally got 20 Legend Roe out of a Golden Animal Cracker Legend Fish Pond 4 days ago: Yay
Concerned Ape: How about more Roe drops?
    Me: 😀
Concerned Ape: But you get less Roe and will never get that 20 ever again
    Me: D:

Edit: I do like we now get more frequent Roe but reducing how much we get is a low blow that really takes the wind out of the sails. Yes they still outperform all the other fish but come on. I worked my rear off to get these fish. You could have left the Roe quantity between 1-10 and just moved the legend back up to 23ish% with the other Legendary Fish. The drops are rare enough as it is but dropping loads of roe at a time made up for it. Now it's a rare drop for much fewer roe. It almost seems like it's not really worth it if you can go entire weeks without your Fish Ponds producing anything because of bad luck just to be met with like 3 Roe for your trouble. The Lava Eels make a far more tempting target to put into Ponds because then at least you get consistent Roe at small volumes to sell off with a small chance of some other drops. My rainbow trout pond grew to 10 and gave me a Prismatic Shard and 2 rainbow Shells before my legend pond gave my anything which wasn't that perfect 20

These are Rare 1 per game Fish, imo we need a huge reward for fishing them up and keeping them in ponds if we don't outright smoke and sell it and then just continue to farm the Second set every few months or however many times Qi's Walnut room gives us that quest

Yes I'm editing again: I ran some maths of my own. A Smoked Iridium Legend Sells for 42,000 gold with Fisher and Artisan. Aged Legend Roe sells for 7,084 gold with Artisan. You'd need 6 Legend Roe to Age to just beat out that price by 504 gold. It's a low chance for Legend Roe to Spawn anyway if it was matched with the other Legendary Fish but it's also a low chance to get multiple Legend Roe. And that's before grinding out for Farming Mastery and then hunting through RNG for a Golden Animal Cracker to put into the pond. Perhaps you could get another batch of Roe out and aged before you could farm the Second Set of Legends a second and third time. Perhaps you may not. But even with the Cracker this puts the Aged Legend Roe just above Breaking Even with Just smoking it and selling it. The reward for all the work put into the ponds has to be more than just breaking even else there isn't much point to doing it when you can just farm Legend 2 fish over and over and over again, just using 1 piece of coal which is far easier to get than an Animal Cracker and utilising both the Artisan and Fisher Professions. The Legend should have the same stats as the other Legendary Fish as it did before with just under 25% to produce 1-10 Roe every day. Statistically that's a drop every 4-5 days but realistically it could take a week or two to get that drop and that's a far better rate and motivation to justify putting the Rarest fish in the game into a pond instead of the Fish Smoker

ANOTHER edit: I ran more numbers. Aged Lava Eel Roe sells for 1,064 Gold. You need 40 of these to break even with and beat Smoked Iridium Legends and the 6 Aged Legend Roe from before. These fish drop 1-2 Roe almost daily at population 10 which is 2-4 Roe daily. That's at least 10 days to beat Legend output. Also I can just build 10 Lava Eel Ponds and do it in like 2 days maximum. This is surprisingly easy and doable to do considering my farm is currently running 20 Fish Ponds, 5 Legendary and 15 regular. If I filled them all with Lava Eels The Legend and Legend 2 would be meaningless to catch aside from just completing the fish tab. The only other possible use for it would be to put it in the Grange Display but thats easily filled with an Iridium Largemouth bass. So truly what would be the point in catching any of these fish if I can just do that

  2. I miss my 16+ roe at a time 🧎‍♀️‍➡️it’s a small problem but I preferred having the larger profit same day. I decided to just keep my legend roe for longer, stockpile, then age it to make a bigger visible profit

  3. Fish ponds have always been a waste. I’ve only ever used it to get sturgeon roe-caviar for my perfection runs, which now that you can just fish up roe-fish ponds are trash. Hot garbage even. 😂

  4. I have 4 ponds with legend 2s and golden crackers, aging the roe. I get about 100k a week which is comparable to my parallel starfruit wine setup at about 400k a week. And the roe is much more casual!

  5. I think the change is overall for the better, making them a much more reliable money source. But, at the same time, there is something to be said for the dopamine hit of going ages without seeing any Legend roe, and then all of a sudden getting 10 out of nowhere.

  6. I hope the patch comes soon for console, the Switch version has a game crash bug where if you file for divorce and end the day the game crashes, there's also a bug with the racoon wife shop where only the 4 basic seeds are available regardless of how many racoon requests you do

  7. Very interesting!
So in short – on release, Legend fish drastically dominated. 15k p/d with cracker, 7k without. Everything else was around 3k, except for Crimsonfish that was at around 4.5k.
Post-nerf, all non-legends got evened out. Angler became a 3k p/d, carp & glacier got even with about 3.4k, crimsonfish turned to 5k, and legend was shafted and turned to 6k (less than half, way bigger of a hit vs the others)
Post-nerf/buff (this one) again, everything was evened out. But due to how math works, most fish were slightly punished. Crimsonfish was downed to 3.5k, with angler being 3.2k and glacier/carp staying about the same at 3.4k. Legend was slightly buffed at this turnout, turning to 7k from 6k. That's a more accurate 'half' and that seems to make Crimsonfish about as good as the rest, instead of being a more solid first placer.
Overall, nerf. Buff for legend. For reliability and luck, this is a good change.

  8. I like this change, i didn't really bother with fish ponds before because i have terrible rng luck and never got anything. I finally had a reason to put a few on my farm!

  9. It really doesnt bother my play style. Being on console, I always had alot of Animals and fish ponds anyways. Now, I just dont have to make and grow as many starfruit and kegs, and can put all of my legendary fish to more use thansitting in a chest somewhere. Even the patch for teasaplings didnt hurt my playstyle, because my money making process has always been balanced between everything in the game, not just one or two things. That way , I experience the whole of the game.
