I Built The BIGGEST Railway Artillery EVER In Create Mod

Today, I design and build the Schwerer Gustav railway artillery in Minecraft Create mod! My model is an upscaled version of the real vehicle and is fully functional in-game. The artillery can be setup, loaded, positioned, and fired all while operating on Create mod train tracks. I even determine a rough system of positioning the cannon at the proper elevation to drop a shell on a specific location.

  1. If the sides of a square are x, the diagonal between two opposite internal angles of a square is x times the squareroot of 2 (x*-/2).
    The 1.5 thing worked because the squareroot of 2 is close to 1.5

  2. At the end there.
    That was litterally bracketing fire.
    Shoot long, Adjust, Shoot short, Adjust, Hit!
    Real artillery principles displayed in Minecraft
    Excellent work

  3. By the way, I think you might be able to get more precise angles by using gears as well as a sequenced gear shift, so you'll have a sequence gear shift turning a small cogwheel, leading into a large cogwheel.

  4. it's not a pretty answer, but if my physics knowledge from nearly half a decade ago holds true, then the maximum displacement should be about this:

    v = muzzle velocity (had a bit of trouble pinning this down from the video tbh, so no exact number is here)
    O (stand in for theta) = the angle of the shot
    g = gravity, which i found online to be around 22 m/s/s, but you should test this if you plan on relying on it
    d = horizontal displacement (aka distance the shot goes)

    (V^2 * sin[2*O])/|g| = d

    note: the bars surrounding g here are meant to mean take the absolute value of g, although not everyone knows that symbol.

    P.S. 1.4 is a better approximation of the sqrt of 2 than 1.5, and this difference may be exaggerated at longer ranges. also, this is all based on real life and not on how they coded it, so it still might not work if the math is good.

  5. how did you get around interactive breaking contraption inventories? when i had it installed my crop farms wouldn't pick up anything, they'd just leave wheat and seeds on the ground

  6. Great project! One thing though, while calculating the distance you only took the angle of the barrel in consideration. In real life mortar/artillery firing you also have to consider the amount of charges used. If you mix and match both the amount of charges and the angle of the barrel, you can pretty much hit any block you want

  7. Maybe you can use this, I hope.. .
    V²sin(2θ)÷g=R
    θ=(R.g ÷V²)arcsin½
    V=Initial speed
    g=Gravity Almost 9.8
    R=Projectile range(or distance)
    θ=Launch angle with the horizon
    For diagonal you can use Pythagoras to measure distance (R)
    a²+b²=c²
    V=d÷t
    d for distance (meters)
    t for time (second)
