You missed out by not exploring the animal section where the colour of your pet can be selected as well.
The SDV Expanded mod changes the town and adds all those unfamiliar faces. Double check your list of "single" folks…might find a surprise in there. Also, deeper into the story you may even encounter yet another possible romance choice. Almost everything you remarked on in this episode is SDV Exp mod, so yeah, it is going to be almost impossible for you to tell what is new for 1.6. If something happens that is notable, I will let you know if it was 1.6 AFTER the thing is seen/found/done etc. because I am not spoiling this! Enjoy to the fullest!!
I struggled fishing but once I set my mind to do it, I got better and now love fishing.

Oh Shelab, it has been a while playing this game for me too. I love the name of your farm and your hairstyle. It is nice to have as I say backyard or your back garden. Shane is so mean! I remember the 🎶 and names and faces. At least you got a ♥ from Dusty the dog. 🐶I don't remember that with the dog. And wow you got a free sprinkler too. How nice is that? Keep them coming. 💐

There were few years there where I was obsessed with this game, and according to Steam it's my "most played" with over 1600 hours. (A close second and third are Don't Starve and They are Billions.) So yeah, it will be interesting to see what changes are there. I think what really made the game stand out in my mind is that while on the surface it's just an innocent little farming/dating sim, once you get to know people you find out many of them are struggling with serious personal issues. There's the guy who comes home from a war with PTSD, the guy with serious alcohol problem, the gal who had to flee from an abusive relationship, the single mother dealing with poverty. There's a lot of drama hidden behind the scenes, and it's only revealed when you've put in the time playing. Come for the relaxing environment, stay for the social commentary. 11:55 – First change Nectarine Sapling. I'm pretty sure that you got parsnip seeds to get you started, and Nectarines weren't even in the game. 1:22:10 – Wow, that was about ten times as stressful as it could have, and what do you get for it? Worms.

I super, duper suggest you give Andy a beer (or two) and then swing down into Cindernsap forest, you'll get a nice surprise~!
I suggest adding look up anything to your mods. Hit F1 on the NPC's photo and it will tell you all loved gifts. Also, Community Center and mines both open on the 5th. If it rains on 5th CC is delayed.
Another suggestion, buy Andy a beer a few times. He will give you free strawberry seeds. You can't get them until egg hunt festival. Great for farming xp. Kale is also great for farming xp.
Morris has expensive tastes. One of his loved gifts is Blue Moon wine.
A few non-spoiler tips: the villager's hearts only show when they're full, not partial hearts (unless you install a mod like UI info suite 2). Items left on the floor, like wood from chopping a tree, will only despwan when you quit the game. When you're fishing and struggling to keep the bar at the top, just press and hold. Hope these help a little!
