Have you ever considered what might happen if you asked someone to marry you while already being married? To find out, I spent all my money at the saloon buying beer and started giving it to Shane to quickly raise our friendship level. Since beer is his favorite gift, it didn’t take long to reach 10 friendship hearts with him. After that, I gave him the Mermaid’s Pendant and we got married. But then, I needed another Mermaid’s Pendant, since this item is required to propose to someone in the game. I waited for a rainy day and headed to the beach to buy a second pendant from the Old Mariner.

TLDW: They call you a weirdo and won't marry you if you are already married. BUT then again, she tried to marry the Wizard……who isn't even a marryable NPC….but i assumed the result is the same for NPCs that are single and able to be married.

I got a mermaid pendant on a rainy day and the next day was the green rain (year 2). I proposed to Elliot and the Mariner sold me a second pendant no questions asked lol

In this other game: Rune Factory Frontier, you can ask someone else to marry you even if you are married. Your partner will catch you in the act and beat you up, leaving you with only one hp and completely draining her relationship from ten to zero.

To be fair, you can get an extra mermaid pendant on a rainy day if you go to the old mariner on a rainy day between your engagement and your wedding.
Granted that is a really narrow time window, but is doable.
I only know because I am doing a "marriage speed run" to get all of the paintings.
