  1. I hate the happiness mechanic, is a intereting ideia but the alocation of biomes and relation ship is quite random and it make the sandobox aspect of the game being punitive

  2. Khaios i love these build and all your previous build, im curious will you some builds base on specialized farming? lol stars for a star cannon/crafting sky city or find a way to farm just sharks with no jellyfish?

  3. I really appreciate your take on this. The wiki's guide has always annoyed me in the past, cuz it was always optimized for average discount across the board, but some NPCs are only ever used a small handful of times. It's nice to see someone coming at it with the more practical perspective of "These are the NPCs I use a lot, the discount levels for the others dont really matter"

  4. Instead of maximizing happiness and the lore pairings, I just stick everyone in their preferred biome so that I have enough people in areas for my Pylon network; my Ocean for example has the Pirate on a ship, the Angler in a fishing cabin, and the Stylist in an apartment to have her salon, with an underground spider cave, to imply she's a Sweeny Todd-esque demon barber. Meanwhile, my desert has the Dye Trader in a little caravan inspired by one of Khaios' builds, a saloon where the Arms Dealer operates out of, and the Steampunker flying over in an airship.

The Nurse has a clinic next to the Wizard's tower the Party Girl's crib, and the Tavernkeep's tavern, in the Hallow. Santa and the Tax collector live on opposite sides of the Tundra with the Cyborg and Mechanic living in a workshop in between. The Clothier, Goblin and Demonlitionist are underground near the Dungeon so I have quick access to it with the Pylons, the Guide, Zoologist, Golfer and Merchant in the Forest, and Painter, Dryad and Witchdoctor in the Jungle, for obvious reasons. The Princess usually gets her own private villa somewhere. I also usually give some NPCs specific block palettes for thematics, like giving Clothier various Dungeon furniture and the Chippy's Couch, Pirate the Golden stuff, Party Girl the Balloon stuff, Santa the Christmas Stuff, Tax Collector the Obsidian stuff, and to be cruel to the Guide, slime furniture to remind him that King Slime ate his brother. When I play modded, certain blocks stand out as well, like I think Thorium adding Yew Wood dropped by the Goblin Army, so I use that for the Tinkerer's workshop.

  5. 6:19 I CAN FINALLY PROVE IT TO MY FRIENDS THAT PUTTING THE GOBLIN TINKERER IN THE UNDERGROUND SNOW BIOME ISN'T ANY BETTER THAN PUTTING HIM IN JUST THE UNDERGROUND
(I kept on trying to get the mechanic and goblin tinkerer in the underground snow biome so both of them can be happy but they were refusing since on the wiki it says the goblin tinkerer dislikes the snow biome)

  6. angler: pull the lever khaios

    wrong lever

This joke was actually a spin off of a gag in the emperors new groove where the main villian tells her servant cronk to pull a lever, whence she falls as a result of crink pulling said lever she says “wrong lever”. Really good movie if you haven’t watched it

  7. Would absolutely love an npc house series! Would love to see your own way of doing it and the builds you've come up with for it more, but if you felt like doing an optimal npc house series as well as your own take I'd be stoked to watch both!

  8. No joke, I move angler and golfer to the main camp (aka Forest at spawn) as I like do get my fishing quests and golfer is one of the few that doesn't hate that brat, ahem, kid. That way I get a merchant to sell my stuff every time I come back, willingly or not.
After the princess move, I change my setup so she is the happy buyer. Most of the time I got her with angler, tax collector and someone else that might think he woke up in hell, because he live around the worst NPC. At least the Princess is near. She is nice. Everybody likes her.

  9. Hey khaios I'm a little late to the video for you to probably read my comment, but could you make a circuit that makes npcs have a visit schedule? Like it would be cool to teleport the dryad to the mushroom biome once a week, or have that painter visit multiple biome since he sells paintings for them, using teleporters and a circuit. Make the world feel so much more alive

  10. I would love to see a series of npc towns based on your picks, I would also group npcs similarly. I'm currently doing my own npc buildings and it would be great to compare how you build yours.

  11. I personally only want to set up towns around Pylons, so the idea of having NPCs too far out from them doesn't jibe with my style. On top of that, I want to space out my Pylons so I can use them to get around my world more efficiently. I end up prioritizing favorite biomes and not-disliked NPCs over anything else.

I also make my Surface Mushroom Pylon a floating island so I can further space everything out; it usually ends up floating above the Dungeon, and I set up my permanent Boss Area at the Dungeon entrance. I even build the Cavern Pylon Town at the bottom of the world, just above the Underworld, so I don't have to dig out a Hellevator.

  12. Tbh I kinda get disappointed by the overcrowding mechanic because I always liked the idea that these scrappy survivors all band together and make a village

  13. Some things to note:

    – You can probqbly use, and even improve upon, that Oasis build you did years ago, with a small custom desert cave with the cactus ball and with the singular house on top. I copied and pasted that house into my world, just for the sake of using it on the Dye Trader.

    – I would have loved to see you build a tavern/pub for the tavernkeep, because you said that you dont mind the NPC happiness much when building

    – I would really love it if you can create a other Pylon series, based on this list of yours
