Interesting you mention going to the mine on bad luck days. I've noticed I run into more monsters on bad luck days. That means I find ladders with less energy as they drop from the enemies I defeat

About good and bad luck days in the mines: good luck means more ladders and less monsters spawn, but because monsters are needed to drop loot [like ancient seeds], a bad day actualy has higher chance of giving you better loot as you have more monster kills to roll for the loot drop.
In good luck days, you don't have monsters to kill, so all you can count on is spawned loot like gem rock or crystals.
Tip about the recipes, any recipe that you miss will replay for you on Wednesday!
