    Just as a bit of clearance (because you mentioned it for Celeste) Hollow knight also initially started off at a game jam project, and $50+k only came after a Kickstarter.

    Always great to see some dwarf fortress appreciation! The Devs spent years on the game before getting any major financial compensation from the steam and itch release, huge props to the sheer detail and amount of content in there.

    I like how success of a video game depends on idea not budget. Other games spent million dollars just to make a little over 10 million in revenue. Meanwhile Minecraft spent $0, sold 300 million copies, was sold to Microsoft for $2.5 billion.
