Calamity Fables: The Better Calamity
Calamity Fables is a new mod for Terraria, labelling itself as a “Calamity Rework.” It’s being developed by former Calamity developer IbanPlay as well as a bunch of other talented people. Personally, I think that this mod has the potential to be far better than the original Calamity Mod, and I’ll explain why in this video.

Fables will also have its own lore which will probably be based more on cal's old lore than its new
hey!! fables dev here, thank you so much for your support and kind remarks towards the project! just wanted to clarify that calamity fables is in no way trying to start drama with the calamity mod, nor is it an f-you to fabsol and calamity as a whole. the drama that happened took place years ago and we can no longer speak for calamity’s dev environment. again, we appreciate your kindness, but if you’re going to praise fables please keep it respectful towards calamity and the original developers, and because we have some friends working on it too!
I'm looking forward to how this develops. I'm totally gonna need to replace my beaten down Laptop for future updates, it seems tho lol

New mod looks good for sure, but I don't think you need to shit all over the work done for the original Calamity to prop up the new one

really hope they add new difficulties because that's one of the biggest reasons why people like calamity so much (hopefully rogue in some way too)
honestly speaking? as good as Fables looks, there was no need to dumpster on Heart Plus Up for their resprite of DoG or (what remains) of the calamity team; it'd be more helpful if it was phrased as "(x) is good, but (y) and (z) could be better, like how they did (x) in Fables", rather than "(x) is better than (y)" with no further "criticism". I totally understand preferring Fables though, I'll say it looks a lot better, but the original calamity is still solid.

the tittle of the video is awful as hell. In general, the video is awful as hell.
It's hard to call the mod better when it barely exists as of now. Very cool? Yes. Very promising? Yes. But it's super early in development, lacking most of what Calamity has to offer. This video really seems to be more about throwing shade than supporting a new project.

This is cool and all, dont get me wrong, but dogging calamity is somewhat offputting when it serves as the rough draft for Fables. As mentioned in the video, these are former devs working to implement ideas that never got to see the light of day in the calamity we are all familiar with as a passion project separate from its predecessor
honestly i got high hopes for this mod and i hope they put more depth into the bosses which i can already tell from crabulon looking more like a puppet and i hope they make calamitas more interesting and hopefully make her look better because she kind of looks like a baby mouse right now and overall less intimidating then before

Hey y'all, I want to make it clear that despite the fact that I seem pretty hateful towards Calamity in this video, I failed to mention that I still absolutely love the mod. I genuinely think it's the best Terraria mod that the game will ever see, and despite the fact that I think it's been on a bit of downwards spiral ever since the 22 devs incident, there's no forgetting the amount of work and love that was and still is being poured into it.
I think a lot of you would also agree with me when I say that I would absolutely love if the eventual outcome of Calamity Fables is that the two mod teams are able to join together to create the absolute best mod possible, essentially resealing the gap that was created back in December of 2022. I'm sorry that I momentarily hopped on the Calamity hate train, and while I do think Calamity is well in need of some critique, and that Fables is certainly going to put a lot of Calamity's missed opportunities to light, there's no discrediting just how much work and effort is put into it to make it such a great mod.

Ok in calamitys defence Im pretty sure the reason calamity updates take so long is the sheer amount of spaghetti code.
For some reason, throughout the entire video I can't shake the feeling that the author somehow participated in the creation of the mod, heh.
But i do hope they will implement additional difficulties for the mod in someway
Holy cow, this looks so good. I have been playing Calamity with a few friends lately, but have been feeling more and more that calamity is getting a bit repetitive and lacluster. I definetly think that i will switch over to fables. I hope to see more great things emerge from this talented development team. Best of luck y'all.
