  1. generative AI is deeply damaging to the environment. its use and upkeep require massive amounts of energy. generative AI, especially Chat GPT, is built off of the backs of massive amounts of theft. the CEO of OpenAI openly endorses racist, sexist, and homophobic politicians.
    disappointed by this turn tbh.

  2. I think it's funny how chatgpt will know things that are popular online like "fish on rainy days for catfish" or "date Leah" but not common sense things like "don't blow all your earlygame gold on the price catalogue" or "don't mine for rocks when you can just go to the mines" since no one really posts obvious stuff like that online

  3. Lotta people here complaining about AI. Meanwhile I’m just here like β€œOOH! New Lummi video LETS GOOO!”

While AI CAN be used for controversial means doesn’t mean it’s inherently bad or wrong. AI can be used for good as well.

  4. I dont like ai because it replaces artists and their creativity but the people in this comment section are taking this too far.

The whole video isnt ai and lumi is still doing her own things without it. Despite not liking ai I'm still happy lumi made a new video.

  5. Hey, to all the people telling Lummi off for using GPT for this project, I want to give my nuanced opinion on the matter as an environmental engineering student at Vanderbilt University, where we have to spend a lot of time learning its impacts, and learning to clean up any messes it can cause. Generative AI absolute DOES initially burn a lot of energy, and creates a lot of emissions (with some huge farms having the energy and emissions output of small cities-yikes), but this is almost always ONLY during model training. Once it's up and running, the energy usage and emissions plummet drastically, and in the long term it has actually had benefits. That's why a almost every environmental sector uses it, and why we make heavy use of it in our labs. We use it in our work to help optimize energy grids to predict peak usage times and adjust energy flows accordingly, to help optimize water use and fertilizer application to prevent nutrient pollution, and to analyze weather data to forecast energy production, so renewable power plants know when to ramp up or dial down, also saving energy. Plus, it's been great for spotting deforestation in satellites and monitoring the tracking of pollutants much more quickly and efficiently than we can as engineers, because we just can't comb through data sets in even 1/100th of the time. Basically, while it definitely can have a high upfront environmental cost, the long-term benefits can outweigh that hit, which is something a lot of media and news outlets don't care to talk about, maybe because it isn't useful in generating headlines or views. You don't have to change your minds on the topic or anything, but like it's not nearly as simple as "AI=planet killer." A lot of the advancements in environmental monitoring and remediation we're making would be completely impossible without AI, and even the short-term impacts of using AI are still not as bad as driving cars lmao.

  6. Good lord, AI is literally made for situations like this. It’s not taking away creativity from anyone considering Lummi still played the game, edited the footage, etc. using AI isn’t nearly as damaging to the environment as training it, which was already done. This is a cool little idea and some of y’all need to come down off your moral high ground. I’m sure you all do things that support worse processes or ideas without even realizing it.

  7. It was certainly a fun little experiment, Stardew kinda needs some mixing up once you completed it a few times.
I am currently running a mushroom farm but I admit that getting enough moss for all those mushroom logs is a huge pain. It is mid Autumn year 1 and I only have like 60 of them and needs hundreds for the profit I need. So far are the numbers a bit disappointing, I only make like 5-7K a day and my goal was to go up against my last farm with 12 barns full of pigs which made 150K at minimum any day without rain or in the winter.
The darn green rain just gave me moss for something like 35 logs, so I have to up my game.

I don't think I will try AI though… I enjoy experimenting with odd ways to play the game.
