I don’t know if they’ll see this comment, but I recommend the pause time mod. When you play single player, time pauses when you talk to people and read but in multiplayer, time continues. Pausing for one player helps so much. And me and my bestie play that way! It makes it feel less stressful!
I also hope that chat taught them how to tell if something has been donated to the community center.

Fun! I haven't played it myself, but based on gameplay I've seen, I think you two could definitely get into it.
I feel like there's a notable section of the stardew fandom that's comprised of "I dont know why everyone one is so into this, i guess ill try a little bit." Then they have multiple 100's of hours.

I NEEDED someone to show me around Stardew Valley. There was no way I could've played and figured everything out, myself.
Stardew Valley is a game that's great with edit commentary. Not so much full play commentary. It's a very personal game experience. Something is lost when you watch someone else play it uncut.

I think stardew is a game that benefits from some "quality of life" mods. And that can look like anything for each individual player! Personally, I'm very forgetful, so a mod like Automate that picks up my ores for me when they're done smelting has made the game way for fun for me. Something to consider maybe!

Well, you can go the Joja route then (you unblock things by paying for them). I did it once, it's loads of fun!
i would watch you play through this whole game even though I have played/completed it soo much myself. I'd be soo surprised if you didn't get super into it after a short time.
PS once you upgrade the minecarts and also afford a horse you can get places a lot faster!
