Part 1: The MOST relaxed guide to Stardew Valley: How to avoid getting overwhelmed | Spring
Part 2 is out now: https://youtu.be/O-k_3q1vQp8?si=kmq1GYFXkZIvp7wO
Stardew Valley can get really overwhelming and stressful, especially if you see every other guide out there which pushes you try and finish it as quickly as possible.
This is unlike any other tutorial. Instead of trying to stress you out with what you *SHOULD* do, I only tell you what’s available in the game and encourage you take things at your own pace.
Prepare to play Stardew Valley the way you want to: as relaxed as possible.
This guide is up to date with the 1.6 changes

I mention that luck affects the number of monster that spawn in the mines. I was wrong about that. It has no affect on monster spawns.

I remember that the first time I played, I didn't go to the wiki for a long time and so I had no idea what the "worm spots" were for and therefore ignored them, and also thought that the TV was purely decorative so got no information from it since I never interacted with it. I feel like there should have at least been a hint that the TV was more than mere decoration. If I'd used it, I would have gotten the hint about digging up the worm spots. And fishing is HORRIBLE! Even after all this time, and even after getting full skills in fishing, I still only go fishing as a last resort. I also dislike how short each day is, so you often have to skip doing something and choose something you think is more important at the time. Despite all that, I still like the game overall and still play it.
Stardew would be more relaxing for me if npc errands didn’t have a time limit
OMG. This is so nice. I love this. As a veteran player it is nice to remember that I can play slow and not try to min/max everything to death.
I have played Stardew Valley before but I was so so into mix and max and I was trying to rush everything.
I thoroughly enjoyed this leisurely walk through. It helped change my perception and play of the game. I was getting a bit flustered but because of you I will start playing it bit more chill.
Hi It is great you are making videos to help new players with the game. & remember there are times we can black out just in side of out the house & not get in the bed. & they take us to the Dr.s house to. & we have to pay for that to.
I might hate joja but I am an achievement hoe. So I have a joja run lol 😂
I like the bats, I don't have to check it as often as the mushroom but that's just me haha.
I decided to play like I live and avoid building relationships – at least for the moment. I only started a new game a couple of days ago. I've always quit playing after about a year because the relationship stuff was so stressful! I have to deal with people too much in my real life to want to do it in a game.
What a fantastic idea! The guides are often super intense and can discourage players seeking a casual experience.
FYI, luck has no effect on monsters spawn rate in the Mines.
Thanks for this!
Another tip about fishing for those that are struggling:
Harvesting from crab pots slowly increases your fishing level, which increases the size of the fishing bar, and unlocks better fishing rods that can use bait and tackle. There many different types of tackle, if you're solely chasing a bigger fishing bar, use cork bobbers.
While successful catches are the best way to do this, crab pots are a good alternative if you're struggling with fishing (even with the training rod- there's no shame). Just get a crab pot (or several!), some bait, and be patient.
Hope this helps! Good luck.

Playing it for the first time with a mate. This was the video I wanted! Well edited as well. Looking forward to the next one. I am about to hit winter
Relaxed… But with cuts… Another one, please youtube, don't send me these kind of videos.
Thank you so much for this! I've started my stardew journey a week ago and while i enjoy it i'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the info and advicr i see and i feel like i'm noy playing it "right". This is rly nice and relaxing, i'd love to see more!
Hey, thanks to you Ive just started playing the game. Please send thosw new videos out. I am waiting for your summer video.
If you find Stardew Valley stressful in any way, I don't know how you even made it this far in life
Last month, I finished a 3 month binge of this game. I achieved perfection, and I got to Spring, year 7. I forced myself to slow down, and just do one or two things a day in game. Sure, it took me 3 years to finish the community center, but it was such a nice walk to the goal.
I've also recently got into Luma Island, and it makes me want to go back, and play even slower.
This is what I needed! I got deeply into Stardew a handful of years ago. But I was so focused on doing everything "Right" or "As fast as possible", at a certain point it was definitely overwhelming because there's so much to do. I was so concerned with being as efficient as possible. I've been thinking of playing again on my steam deck but the thought of doing as much as I did before doesn't interest me. I'm glad someone is pushing this route!
So thankful for this, ive been playing for a couple irl days now and have been getting myself so overwhelmed by all the "need to do's" i see on youtube
When I tried to play I felt overwhelmed, not having time to do nothing and everything was taking forever. This led to frustration and boredom. Let's see what you propose.
Just started this game 😊
Thank you for this great video. I remember starting like this but eventually got lost in the pressure to get perfection and lost the magic that I had when I treated Stardew Valley as a chill game. Thanks for the reminder of how relaxing this game can be.
I will be very honest, for some reason, when you said "the way poor old grandpa intended" made me tear up. Like yeah. Right there.
yesss. i needed this
oh wow i love this
Thanku so much, I sunk like 20 hours into just mining and came out having no idea what to do lmao
Part 2 (Summer) is out now: https://youtu.be/O-k_3q1vQp8?si=kmq1GYFXkZIvp7wO
I think its a symptom of the internet man. Sometimes, you just need to chill out and play the game. Dont google how to finish the community center, dont google the townsfolks schedules. If you miss giving whoever a present its aight. Just get em tomorrow.
this was a good video compared to others i've seen, i tried not to watch any videos before playing out as to not spoil anything but i think this video does a good job of not spoiling and hinting in the right direction.
funny enough too this was uploaded only 12 days ago, funny enough i only started playing 12 days ago :O.
(Sorry – need to edit my post – I didn't communicate my point at all, lol)
I have played around 450 hours of this game. Most of the time I have spend playing different min/max strategies. This type of gaming is fun, until it isn't. I have never finished the Community Center because of this. I become disappointed that I cannot complete the CC within a year. So I loose motivation to keep going, and that's a shame.
I now feel more drawn to relaxed ways of playing the game. Taking my time. Your video is a very beautiful way of showing that. I highly recommend it to both new and veteran players of the game.
Well thanks for having a relaxing guide. I am in my year two. And got a bit exhausted of watching guides that tell you to do everything NOW!!!
first time player here and boy is this guide refreshing😅 no yelling about PROFIT💰!!! the entire time, just vibes. great work, this is super helpful
i love this video so much. i play like this (but slower) which is very diff from my min max friends who thankfully assure me its fine. the earliest i went to bed was 2pm when i ran out of energy!
I recently got back into the game and I've been pleasantly surprised by how much easier it is to do well without playing optimally. Also: Forest farm has been a good starting farm for me.. Hardwood, Foraging, good fish on lucky days, and most of all LESS farming space. Way less pressure to figure out how to use it – lots of space to place things where you know you won't be messing with later farming setups.
Oh I did like this. I do now know how to play but it's nice to relax and watch someone else doing all the work and there is a good chance that I will learn something new. Any tips on how to easily read the lost books? It may just be me but mine tend to sit there and when I click it doesn't work… so, it wasn't until I watched a video that I found out why everyone considered a prismatic shard to be important and just what I should do with them in the desert.
Wow, this video suddenly pop up when I needed it the most. I started my first play and greeted villagers when suddenly it's already dark. I got frustrated and immediately create a new game. Those progress, I think that is why I'm scared to play a cozy game. Now I'm trying to enjoy the game, thank you so much, just subscribed!
I’ve played Stardew Valley for a long time but getting started was hard for me because, as you say, it can be overwhelming. If someone had told me, “Don’t worry. You can do whatever is most fun for you and there are almost no lasting consequences to mistakes,” I would have had a much easier time.
I’m glad new players have this video as an introduction.
I remember that this game stayed put in my library for two months before take it again just because I felt like I was not "exploiting" the mechanics "as wanted", after that a I forced myself to play it in a relaxed way, not caring what would have happened and in fact I loved it
I needed this really bad thank you so much!
really anything you "miss" in this game doesn't matter. it's more about HOW you're going to progress to the next thing you're interested in, rather than when. you're likely going to do another playthrough anyway so who cares.
I needed this bc i automatically fall into speedrun mode when i play stardew lol
