    honestly i really dislike the "happy ghast" idea, it takes whatever we've known about the ghast before and launch that out of the window. why would the ghast need water if it lives in a place where water literally EVAPORATES in less than a second, and then gills!? seriously? and then "iT eATs SnOwBwALls" feels like something mojang pulled out of their ass bcs of their dogshit "agenda" of making animals as friendly as possible and a crime to EVEN IMAGINE harming (i'm talking about the same reason as to why we won't get sharks, crocodiles or rideable dolphins into the game, or actually useful drops out of the more recent real life-based mobs) why did mojang decide to make a goofy ass 180 and make the mob that lives in HELL, a waterless place, into a fully water dependent organism? extremely annoyed with this

    i remember there being a theory that the nether was once aquatic because of the existence of basalt deltas. It looks like Mojang is doubling down on that environmental storytelling.

    I have the theory that there is water in the nether, in the form of humidity. We know water can persist in the nether since potions use it as ingredients, and we know meat exists since the hoglins drop porkchops.
    Maybe all the water dried up and evaporated, and maybe the only ghasts that can process it are adults, or perhaps an internal mechanic allows them to persist by taking humidity from the enviroment.
    It would also contribute to the heat of the nether, maybe even explain nether trees that are fireproof because the enviroment their in dictated evolving that way.
