How many worlds are there in Terraria?
how many possible different worlds are there in Terraria Well by my calculations 54 bill84,91,828 worlds That’s about 6 3/4 worlds per person alive on this planet Quite a lot But wait why 54 bill884,91,828 Is it just a quirk of code or is it deliberate And does it have anything to do with the integer limit Well the answer to all three of these questions is actually yes And the reasoning behind it is actually quite simple At the most basic level Terraria seeds are numbers Specifically 32-bit signed integers This number is what the Terraria World Gen actually works off of Any seed that’s a string basically text is converted to a number before actually being generated Watch the last video to see the quirks of that mechanic Anyway to determine how many seeds there are then all we need to know is how many 32-bit signed integers there are which is about 4.3 billion However past this Terraria has a few more qualifiers than what a valid numerical seed is They must be positive Negative seeds aren’t allowed and any negative seed is simply changed to its absolute value This has the number of seeds available from 4.3 billion to 2.1 billion Essentially the integer limit 2 bill147,483,647 plus one to account for seed zero There are 2 bill147,483,648 basic seeds in Terraria Now if this was Terraria 1.3 I could just end it off here and say that there are this many seeds in Terraria And given world size and world evil combinations there are around 13 billion possible worlds in Terraria Plain and simple However now we have a new cool thing called secret seeds that complicates things just a tad bit Despite all secret seeds of the same type having the same initial seed at least that we know of they generate different and unique worlds This happens because when a secret seed is inputed the game generates a new random seed that it actually uses to generate the world under the new conditions The secret seed itself basically just flips a switch This seed is hidden and is never saved anywhere interestingly but it is used This hidden seed can range anywhere from number zero to not the integer limit but 999,99,998 I guess they just spam the nine key a lot Anyway this means there are just shy of 1 billion possible seeds for each secret seed available From here adding it all up across the main set and eight secret world seeds we have a total of 10 bill147,483,640 total unique seeds You can then knock off three seeds from the basic pile 516 2011 516 2020 and 516 20221 Since these numbers actually generate the drunk and celebration mark 10 worlds and therefore are not available basic world seeds this leaves us with a final total of 10 bill147,43,637 total seeds Then finally multiplying this by three different world sizes and two different world evils except for the drunk world and get fixed boy We arrive our total of 54 billion884,91,828 different worlds Hello If you enjoy this video consider subscribing as only about a quarter of you are Similar videos are on the left and right My Discord server pack info and additional stuff are all in the description Either way though thank you for watching and good day and goodbye See you next Fortnite [Music]

How many possible worlds are there in Terraria?

1.4.5 seed combinations: and i took that personaly
i wonder if any worlds (or ig seeds) have ever been generated more than once
wouldnt any of the basic seeds (5162011 etc) still be possible if you randomly rolled them, thus still being possible to exist?
Now the REAL question is, how many worlds are there in Calamity mod Terraria?
I do wonder, should you not type a seed manually in the world creation screen, and the randomly assigned seed happens to be one of the secret seeds, would that cause a secret seed world to generate?
Or in other words: can you create a secret seed world unintentionally?
what about the numbers of the other secret seeds? sure, they're all text, but as you've said, they're converted to numbers, so there should still be less
How many WORDS are there in terraria tho?
next secret seed gotta be Integer
Fuck I’ve overdosed on worlds, sorry to those couple of people who don’t get to play terraria anymore
Doesn’t the getfixedboi seed generate different numbers of traps, heart crystals, and chest depending on how many stars were hit. I would think that would balloon the number of seeds even higher.
neat
Start: 0:05
End: 0:11
No problem.
This tells us that there are 54 billion more reasons to play this game over and over again.
what happens if a secret seed generates another secret seed when it picks a random seed
I'm just curious, are you a modder? You seem to have a knowledge of C# and decompiling/Terraria's source code. I've seen you in the tmod discord occasionally but never in the modding channels
now curious to see the maps for a seed and each of its secret variants side by side
not a single one where the hardmode V-strip doesn't split my jungle in two
Wonder if you could use some kind of coding trick to use the secret seed generation without the actual secret seed, showing some worlds that are unused
If it takes the absolute value of negative seeds, what happens when it's the signed integer minimum. -2^31 behaves like 0 for 32-bit integers in that it's its own negative. While technically it would be 2^31 if it was an unsigned integer, if that was an option, then there wouldn't've been a reason to make the integer signed in the first place to cut the number of seeds in half.
probably at least 100
Terraria taking the absolute value of negative seeds instead of just using an unsigned integer really sums up the codebase quite well.
Wait, does Drunk/GFB not change how the generation works if it internally had the same seed, but the Crimson/Corruption choice was different? I assumed it would generate the selected evil first, then the opposite evil – resulting in two slightly different worlds if that was the case. Is that not how it works internally?
At most 10
