10 Criminally Underrated Items in Terraria 1.4.5.

with the impending release of Terraria 1.4.5 you’ve probably already seen some of the cool things that it adds to the game the collaboration with Dead Cells is front and center and brings in some really cool new vanity of course there are some new weapons like this deck of cards as well as a ton of new whips that are really going to help the progression feel a lot more interesting for all those smooth brain summoner fans out there there’s also lots of fun things like the secret seed menu and my personal favorites like the hanging flasks as well as the new furniture sets but while these things are a bit flashier and arguably a bit more impactful today I’m going to be highlighting 10 things that I think are criminally underrated and that you should really be looking forward to in Terraria 1.4.5 and first on that list is the hopper system if you ever played Terraria for even just a little while you’ve probably tried to make an AFK farm only to come back a few hours later and realize that your inventory is not only full but all those extra items that you thought would be waiting for you are now gone and it’s gone this is because Terraria’s drop ground loot limit is actually only 400 items anything after that and the items begin to despawn and this is where I think the hopper really can come in all those extra items well now they will get fed into a hopper and then be fed directly into the chest or other storage solutions that you’ve chosen so you won’t lose out on any of those goodies so more items and money are in your future the roller mount this isn’t just any old mount these roller skates let you slide on platforms like it’s 1995 which makes it a bit easier to create those basic arenas since you can just slide along while placing them down and they also let you grind on the rail car tracks which is just a really cool additional feature number three is the new utility sets and specifically the new and improved versions of the mining and the angller armor sets so typically you’ve got the normal little mining one that gives you a bit of extra bonus to your increased mining speed and a little bit more fishing power when it comes to the angller set now that’s all well and good but all I can say generally is that if I can do those things even faster then sign me up now we don’t actually have the exact stats on what these will do but I’d say it’s a pretty safe guess that they will make the respective specialties easier and faster and this will never be a bad thing in my books especially for mining after all digging is a pretty substantial part of the game same goes for the fishing gear which I am hoping will no longer be locked behind RNG of the fishing quest rewards either way both of these will make the daily task of mining and fishing a bit easier and honestly I’m all for it except for fishing fishing sucks at number four is infused fertilizer now this may seem a bit trivial at first glance as we can already grow trees pretty easily especially with the introduction of the axe of regrowth and fertilizer but to grow absolutely massive trees that will literally change the landscape of your world you’ll need this infused fertilizer and I think this is going to be so great for not just farming materials but for building purposes as well just think of the possibilities to make really cool tree houses without having to manually build the tree i’d say that’s a pretty big win in my books especially as a builder and on the topic of these massive trees well these massive trees can then be quickly chopped down with the next item on our list the axarang okay well maybe not the massive trees but definitely the normal trees will be able to be chopped down and I do expect this item to be an item that we can get pretty early on and overall I just love the idea of being able to quickly chop down multiple trees so I can quickly gather my resources the only thing this thing is missing is if it would also plant the acorns automatically for us as well but I’ll take what I can get at number six we have hard mode bombs now a bomb that can destroy hard mode ores all I can say is finally it always seemed odd to me that we don’t have a wider selection of bombs to create or destroy blocks in Terraria and this is a nice way to make bombs more useful in hard mode cuz let’s be honest by the time you get to hard mode you’re not really making the biggest use of bombs at that point like think about it have you ever tried to make a large arena for Plantera and what actually ends up happening pretty much every time as you start bombing out the area you’re left with a bunch of pockets of hard mode ores that are messing up your big beautiful open arena and you got to use a pickaxe like a peasant well not anymore or at least that’s the hope now continuing the theme of bombs we get to number seven which is the freeze bomb now a freeze bomb is a bomb that turns the frigid waters of the snow biome into ice to make your travels a little bit easier so you know you don’t get the debuff and are stuck underwater now I don’t think this one is going to be super useful but I think it’s going to be a really fun addition and it lends itself to this idea that I mentioned previously about needing more bomb options in Terraria now I’m hoping this might set us on a path where we have various bombs that can place blocks for us so as an example if you want to throw a dirt bomb well you have a dirt bomb if you wanted to throw a Ebonwood bomb or a stone slab bomb maybe you could have those as well all I’m saying is think of the possibilities either way like I said while this one may seem a little niche I think this is a step in a very interesting direction number eight we have auto reforging now this is reforging that automatically stops once you hit a legendary roll listen we’re only ever reforging for one reason to make our items better why do I got to sit there and manually roll over and over just hoping I can get the best possible roll while this little goblin steals all my money it’s 2025 and this is just a nice quality of life addition now I will caution that while this is certainly convenient this could be a bit of a double-edged sword as it means the rolls don’t stop until you get that perfect roll so you might accidentally bankrupt yourself even faster than normal but if you’re rich well then don’t worry about it up next is the new placeables now these are versions of background objects like demon altars and fallen logs and life fruits and shadow orbs etc etc as a builder you will never hear me say no to more decorations these are just going to be awesome and will add a little bit of that extra detail to any build that you might be making so naturally I am 100% behind these being accessible to the player i think the demon altars and fallen logs in particular will be rather interesting and this brings us to our 10th and final new change that I’m think is criminally underrated and it’s also related to the new placeables because the rubble maker and the echo paint while they’re not new well now you will get access to them a little bit earlier meaning you’re going to get access to them in preh hard mode and I realize that this might seem rather trivial at first but since I’m a builder this is a big change as it helps make those builds in early game more interesting and helps them kind of stand out by using some of these features so be it the rubble maker or the echo paint to hide things it can kind of just be a nice little touch and no this isn’t just underrated because I’m a builder just think of all the traps and schemes you can come up with if you’re playing with friends and have access to the echo paint early on honestly this one is really simple and is going to add a lot to the game especially if you like to have a little bit of fun either with building or with your friends and there you have it 10 things that I think are currently flying under the radar that I am really looking forward to in Terraria 1.4.5 of course this is just my opinion so let me know what you’re most excited about and don’t forget to check out
