Copper Golem & Chest | Minecraft’s Inventory Management Update!
Welcome back, my friends, to another Minecraft update video where we are on Bedrock Preview edition of the game. That’s because today a preview for the next update of Minecraft, which we’ll refer to as the full drop. It dropped today. And did you spot this guy over my shoulder? Look, it’s real. It’s legit. The copper golem has made its way into Minecraft. You may recall Minecraft Live 2021 where we had the option to vote for the glare, the LA, or the copper golem. And obviously the LA won that vote. But now with the copper golem making its way into the game, one might wonder, what will the fate of the glare be? But let’s going to check out are the new copper tools. I’m guessing you won’t be surprised to learn that these are made out of copper ingots and sticks. The tools that you can make are the sword, the axe, the pickaxe, the shovel, and the hoe. Copper is nestled between stone and iron in the tech tree. So, the copper sword is going to do more damage than a stone sword, but less than an iron sword. And this is actually true of all the tools cuz all of them can be used as weapons. Oh dear, what have I stumbled upon here? Their other property is that they have more durability than stone. But by how much, I’m not able to determine because we’re on Bedrock Edition, which reminds me this is coming to Java at some point. So, I’ll be able to investigate further at that point. Now, as you might have suspected, the tools have a similar story when it comes to mining blocks. They are just slightly faster than stone. The other big quirk is enchantability, which is described as being better than diamond, but not as good as iron. I wasn’t actually aware that diamond was worse for enchanting than iron is, but basically means you got a better chance of getting some decent enchantments through the table. So, that’s the tools. Let’s check out the armor. It is also crafted exactly as you would expect. It has the same recipes for its counterparts with the copper ingots. If we look at the armor meter, the full set gives us five chest plates, whereas a full set of iron gives us 7 and 1/2. This makes it better than leather, which only has 4 and 1/2. And the armor’s durability is better than leather, but not as good as iron. And its enchantability in the enchanting table is slightly less than its counterpart of iron. Meaning you don’t get quite as good enchantments on copper as you do on iron. And you might have noticed this when I was opening the crafting table, but all of this copper comes with a new item, which is the copper nugget. Its purpose is not just to be crafted into a copper ingot. You can do that. It was added because you can smelt down copper tools and armor into copper nuggets using a furnace. And with that out of the way, let’s get to the really good stuff. It’s time to check out the copper golem and the copper chest. But first, if you’re I love this. The sounds that they make, the animations that they have, the movement as they wander around. This is bringing some life and animation to Minecraft. But their main purpose is actually inventory management, which is why you’ll see here that we’ve got a bunch of copper chests. And with a little experimentation, I found that you can’t do this on the chiseled or the cut variants, but you can do it on regular blocks and waxed blocks. So, here’s a regular one. You put a carved pumpkin on top of it to create your golem, and it comes with a chest. So the block that you place at the bottom becomes the chest and that is a waxed block right there. So you can do it with those. And then also the weather types. And of course when we use these we are going to get a golem with a different texture that matches the age of the copper. Oh, and uh we made a double chest. Very interesting. Let’s uh try that again. Like this. It’s not until I put the one next door that they join together and become a double. Okay, these blocks look absolutely fantastic and we’re going to learn how to use them right here. Then I got a whole bunch of junk in my inventory and we need to sort it away into chests. So, we want to use the copper golem to achieve this. And we can throw items into here and it will find it a place to go. So, this guy takes out whatever item is first in the copper chest and makes its way over to a chest to put in the items. The animations here are just fantastic. Now, it can choose to put items into this chest cuz originally it was empty. But once there’s items in it, it can only put in items of the same type. And in order to demonstrate that, I actually need to get rid of the other chests, which is why they’re gone. Okay, so a guy comes back, finds the copper ingots, and then looks in this chest, but isn’t able to place them in there unless this was empty. So, I’m going to go and take that out, and then we’ll see eventually he’ll decide to put them in this chest. In go the items. But notice how there’s only 16 of them. That’s because this guy can only take 16 items at a time out of a stack. Ender pearls, of course, stack into 16. So, let’s go and put that in there. And you’ve taken them out. In fact, you’ve taken all of them, but you don’t know what to do with them. And this is a little bit of a problem with the copper golem. From my testing, they will just hold on to that item indefinitely. might be a good idea if they’re able to put items back in after they’ve tried to put it somewhere and failed. For this next chest over here, we’re going to do something a little different. We’ve actually got two types of item in there. And the copper golem is going to have no issues getting the raw iron and the iron ingots over to here because if the items are already present in the chest, it can put more in. And notice how they didn’t stack together there. So, if there is empty space, it’ll be able to fill it up with the same type of item. This actually seems like a pretty good way of doing it because otherwise you’ll end up with loads of junk going into your chests. And the reason that I’ve got a bunch of iron bars here is cuz that’s what I originally thought they would do. So I set up a system like this where the only thing that would go able to go in there would be iron ingots, but then you’d be limited to one stack. So it turns out this is a pretty smart system. Now I want to make sure I communicate everything here clearly. So let’s go ahead and read through the patch notes to make sure I didn’t miss anything. If the copper golem doesn’t have an item, it’s going to look for nearby copper chests to get one. And this can be any type of copper chest if it’s oxidized or waxed. From said chest, it can take up to 16 items at a time. And it will take any item out of a copper chest. Once holding an item, it’s going to look for nearby chests to try and place them in. And this includes track chests as well. It can place an item in a chest if it’s empty or if it contains the same type of item it’s holding in its hand. The copper golem will try to visit a maximum of 10 chests in sequence. If no matching chest is found, it’s then going to idle for 7 seconds before trying again. And the search area that it looks within is 32 blocks horizontally and vertically it will be eight blocks. And that last one is a big one because if you have a storage area that exceeds the distance this guy can travel to to look for chests, that’s obviously going to cause a problem. But it did get me thinking about something. It can search eight blocks high, but how high up can it reach? We’ve added four new chests. So, I’m going to put four unique items into here because they’ll go one into each. Yep, that’s right. You can’t put sugarcane in there, buddy. Well, this guy successfully was able to put the sugar cane in there. But that’s as high as you can reach, which is interesting because in storage systems, we the player tend to stack chests like this because we can reach a lot further. There was also no mention of other types of storage block. Obviously, it wouldn’t really work with the ender chest, but hoppers and barrels. This guy is not interested. All right, the next thing I wanted to do was to find out how it would handle renamed items. So, we’re going to put ender pearls into this chest. And then our cheeky subscribe plug is going to go in there. Let’s see what this guy does with it. Oh, he’s going for the chest. What’s going to happen? They’re going in. No, it doesn’t consider them the same type of item, and I’m not sure if that’s the proper way to do it or not. What do you think? Give it some thought. Leave a comment down below. Now, we saw how to spawn this guy earlier on, but I thought I should also mention it comes with its very own cute little spawn egg, and it’s only for the regular copper variant. All right, more things about the copper chest. We’ve seen how to bring one into the world, but you can also craft them as well. The recipe is kind of predictable. You take a chest and surround it with copper ingots. That way you can get the copper chest. But from here, I think it’s going to behave like a regular copper block. So, this thing would be able to age over time, unless we treat it with some honeycomb that it’s been waxed. And we can obviously scrape that off as well. And that’s why we got eight different variants of the chest with the exposed, weathered, and oxidized as well as the regular and then the waxed variants of those. And what I love about this drop is that it adds quite a lot of new items, which these golems are going to help you sort away. The last thing I want to mention is that these copper golems have just some amazing sounds. And cuz we’re on bedrock, I’m not going to go through them one by one, but I turned up the sound volume for this video. So hopefully you enjoyed that in the background. And they included this in the change log. So I’m going to do something that I never thought I would do and murder one of these cute little fellas because they drop between one and three copper ingots upon death. Why am Moyang? Why? Now, of course, there’s going to be a lot more magic to be unearthed as we learn how to use these in our contraptions and such, but one thing did pop into my mind. If you so desired to, you could use this guy to bring a little animation and life to your base, cuz he’s going to pick out the items out of a chest and then wander over to a place that it can deposit it off, like this one over here. The thing is though, we’re just taking the items out immediately and pumping them back into the same copper chest again, right? And we learned something there. Hoppers can feed items into copper chest. But now we got a really cute animation where this guy just goes back and forth between these two spots and you could put little things like that in your base. Oh, it’s going to be so cool. It really is. I am now really, really excited for this next drop. On first impressions, it feels like this is a really good idea. All right, leave a like to support this video. Subscribe to catch future videos about the copper golem because I’m going to be messing around with it when it comes to Java edition. And the very last thing I needed to do was remind you about season 8 on the marketplace. So after this video, come and watch this one. Thanks for watching. See you over there. Bye-bye.

Copper armour looks dope. The tools and armour look like a letdown though. Much like with leather vs iron armour thing, you're just going to use iron because you'll probably have more iron faster than the other material. Leather armour isn't very common (other than for display purposes) because you'll have tons of iron before you have tons of cows. I doubt copper tools and amrour will be very common because by the time you have the copper, you'll just have the iron to use.
I don't see the point for copper tools, how long does it really take to from stone to iron, 5, 10 minutes?
I would love it if the golems could create blocks for you. For example, if you place iron ingots in a copper chest and there's iron blocks in a nearby chest and a crafting table within their wandering range, they will turn the ingots into blocks for you. Imagine a smelting system that automatically yields blocks instead of ingots!
Imagine if we got a “Mob Vote Update” that’s just all the creatures and biomes that lost 😂
and so them the minecraft community rejoiced in peace
The copper armor feels like it’s just a mod.
I just hope this gives us hope for the Moobloom in future updates
As much as the're cool looking, I don't really see myself ever using them because of how slow they are, to put stuff into chests. This also doesn't solve the inventory problem. My inventory is still cluttered. i really think they should just along with this. Human grade Make art stock size is bigger. It would solve so much of the problem. There's a reason why terraria went from 999 to 9999.
One must imagine the copper golem happy.
Fans have been begging mojang to fix inventory management for a decade but the copper golem doesn't really fix this issue and actually does something less efficiently or creatively adaptable than the already existing redstone can. Bundles were a small step in the right direction but if they actually want to fix inventory clutter they need to do more. What if the full copper armor could add an extra row to the players inventory? What if copper tools automatically compressed resources into their block forms? On the topic of vertical reach, what if the copper golems could sprout little propellers from their lightning rod antennae and hover up to the higher chests?
Glare might be added in another dimension or the deep dark area for more mobs to spawn and not just the warden. They'll make it useful then it was announced as it got the least votes as they'll improve and work on it more😊 😊
0:24 2021!?!?! Has it been that long since the little fella lost??!?
The copper golem working as an item sorter that can put multiple different items into the same chest is fantastic. This will finally remove a lot of the busy work from playing the game without having to invest a ton of time into advanced item sorters. Also should be easy enough to have a bunch of single type bulk storage with item requests.
For all of you, copper golem fans, remeber that this version of the copper golem IS ACTUALLY USEFUL!!
The original vision for the copper golem was actual hot garbage. This is not the same mob, it just wears the same model.
THESE GUYS ARE SO CUTE OH MY GOD
Honestly, it could be pretty easy to set up a system for them
First, set up 9 chests for one set of copper golems, and if you need more space, set up a 10th chest that can be accessed only by the first set. This chest leads into a hopper that goes into a second set of golems, which also have 9 chests. This way, if they cannot find a place for it, they pass it to the next set of golems
Finally we get what we've been wanting this is an awesome feature mojang 👍
I’m surprised it took Mojang 5 years to finally add copper gear and it’s completely void of any unique mechanic. They claim they have slow development time so features can fit the game well, and yet this is how they ship a new armor set? If this is what the gear is gonna be it begs the question on why the gear wasn’t added in 2021.
Why did they stop calling these 'updates' and start calling them 'game drops'? It sounds stupid and it's just marketing slop.
copper armor and tools is a great addition for me, because i have horrible luck with iron ore
copper block + pumpkin = 9 to 11 copper ingots, chest 8 ingots plus the golem dropping 1/2/3
The world is at peace now!
