Let me turn the volume on. I also just don’t know if there’s a way for me to adjust the actual volume, but I have experience with farming Sims. I’ve played Where’ the music go? I think I just was on the menu for too long. Um, I’ve played Coral Island, Bay Farm. Um, wild flowers, a bit of Fields of Mistria. What else have I played that’s a farming sim? We’ve done a bunch on the channel, but I’ve never played Stardew, which is kind of like the father of farming sims in a way, I feel like, and everyone says it’s the best. So, we’re here to check it out. Uh, flounder through it a little bit probably. Hopefully have a good time. Oh, it’s loud. I might need to turn this down. Um, give me one second. You installed a mod to have Sailor Moon hair. Yeah, I heard that there are a lot of mods for Stardew. I have Stardew through Steam and just installed it. So, however it comes is how we have it. Famously, I’m black and also quite pale. So, I feel like when I pick something that’s actually close to my skin tone, I just look white. Give me I’ll be a little extra mocha today. That’s cute. What kind of farm? Standard farm. Simple plot of land with a large amount of open space to design your farm. Beach farm. Good foraging and fishing and tons of open space. Sometimes supply crates wash up on shore. However, sprinklers don’t work in the sandy soil. Meadowlands farm. Not the best for growing crops. But there’s a chewy blue grass that animals love. You start with two chickens. Riverland farm. Your farm is spread across several islands and scenic river banks. Fish are more common here than usual. You start with a fish smoker. Forest farm. The woods limit your farming space. However, the bounty of the forest is nearly at your doorstep. Hilltop. Rocky terrain and a winding river make it difficult to design your farm. However, a mineral deposit provides mining opportunities. Wilderness. Plenty of good land here, but beware at night the monsters come out. Four corners. The land is divided into four parcels, each with its own perk. Perfect for a group. It’s kind of cool that they give you different farm options. I think we’ll probably do just standard farm. Do I need to do anything with this? I’m going to assume no, cuz that says advanced game option. So, I’m just going to leave that as is. They all have a specialty, but the standard or forest are your Rex for a first farm. Cool. We’re just going to go with standard. And we’re going to see what happens. Okay. Hello, Santa. Is that you? One thing I did hear when we were talking about playing Stardew is that the days are very short. So, we’ll see how that goes. Getting started. If you want to become a farmer, you have to start with the basics. Use your hoe to till the soil. Then, use a seed packet. Okay. Yes. Water every day till the crop is ready. Cultivate and harvest a parsnip and then Yeah, this just wants to us to go into town. What’s up with this? This is our bus that took us here, right? Where do you take me? I’m not going to deal with that right now. We’re going to follow the path. You usually turn on the hit box for your tools. That’s in the settings. Okay. I might check that out. I feel like the thing is that you can really, for the most part, at least it feels that way and that’s how other farming sims are. You can kind of do whatever you want whenever you want. Like there are some quests that will kind of guide you on what you can do and act as a bit of a tutorial, but you can kind of just focus on whatever. Monster eradication goals help us keep the valley safe. Slimes cave insects. Okay. Rock crabs, rusty sword, wooden blade, femur. My goodness. Okay. Come back when you’ve got something to show me, kid. Okay. Well, that was uneventful. you’re a minmaxer. I feel like that’s not really a thing in farming sims. Like there are things you can do to speed up progress, I guess, but like there’s not really winning in a farming sim. Boots. Cool. You do it in Dreamlight Valley, too. And you can do the same thing in games like this. You just have to collect the resources. Like, you don’t really need a plan to get a large chest full of soft wood. You just gather it over time. So hopefully less chance of it being spoiled. I mean, it’s good. I expected it to be good. Everyone, for the most part, that talks about Stardew Valley loves Stardew Valley. It’s pretty much the farming sim that all modern farming sims are inspired by. And to be fair, it feels like a farming sim. I feel like I’m getting what was on the tin, you know, and that’s not a bad thing. Just good. I mean, I don’t have anything really bad to say about it. And the things that I would prefer like to see, wait, how do I explain this? Um, I don’t have anything like specifically bad to say about it. Things that I appreciate in other farming sims. I feel like it’s not necessarily the most fair to be like, well, Stardew doesn’t have this because like I said, those farming Sims were usually inspired by Stardew, saw Stardw, and were like, “Oh, you know, it would be nice if we had XYZ, you know?” So, like for instance, seeing characters on the map, like the NPCs, say seeing where they are on the map. Would I like to see that? Yeah, that’s something that’s in um Coral Island that’s not in this game that I would like to see, but it’s not the end of the world. Another thing would be um the ability to change the speed of the day. That would be nice. But I’m not feeling overly rushed. I do tend to prefer a longer day, but there are nice things about shorter days as well. And I know there are like mods for longer days and stuff like that and for people being on the map, but I don’t often mod games. I feel like it’s a lot of work. It’s a lot of effort. Is there a cart in here I can take some coal from? Oh, you’re asking that as someone that doesn’t like the game. I I like it. Would you stop, please? Too many things. Just pops everywhere. Keeping up with updating mods was a lot. and it just kind of a little bit turned me off of modding games. I just prefer to play the game for the most part. I’m just looking around to see if I see any um crates. Leave me alone. To be clear, that was me talking to the monsters, not to you all.
