MINECRAFT IS UPDATING WEATHER, COMBAT, & ADDING NEW CAVE TYPES?!

Good morning, gamers. It’s me, well, the Wattles. Who did you think it was? Though, it may sound true that Minecraft Yava Edition snapshots, well, they’ve been on pause for the longest time ever. That doesn’t mean the devs haven’t been cooking in the kitchen. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. On the low, over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been watching quietly as the devs have checked off more and more from their next update to-do list. And by taking a look at what they’ve done, we can learn a whole lot about the next update. Besties, you smack that like button real hard, because that’s exactly what we’re about to do. Oh, I thunder easily. And it’s not just because this is like the only weather in the game, but easily the most terrifying version of weather. You know how it works. From time to time, when it’s thundering in your world, you’ll get these crazy loud lightning strikes and thunder sounds. As you might also know, if you’re one with nature and you’ve tried to mess with the volume sounds of the environment, thunder specifically, before, well, then you will know that it actually doesn’t work. There’s no way to turn thunder down. And actually, it’s been that way for over a decade now inside of Minecraft. Since 1.7.4, thunder has not been affected by the weather volume. With bug fixes, we can take a look at these things for clues as to what might be coming next. Sometimes before a big update relating to something, they’ll go ahead and fix all of the bugs relating to well, whatever that thing was. A weather update in the cards. I don’t think it’s not not in the cards. After all, the system is so outdated. And take a look at what they just did on Bedrock Edition. Vibrant visuals to the weather recently. They made it look so much better. Now, on top of that weather update, we actually have another one. Except this time, instead of rain, it has to do with snow. Let’s say this was a biome in which it was meant to snow. Like it’s really really cold. In fact, so cold that statistically the temperature value inside of this biome was a mere 0.15. So really cold. Well, even if inside of the files I customized this biome and said, “Hey, no, it will not precipitate inside of this biome, snow would still happen.” This has been an ongoing issue since way back in Minecraft 1.19.3 and is finally getting fixed. Huh. Now, if I had a penny for every single time there was a weather. Okay, I’m not going to do the joke, but you get it. Two weird weather fixes that are pretty old. With vibrant visuals on the way, it seems like there’s way more potential for different weathers to come to the game. Dense fog, heavy rain, maybe even wind. All righty. Now, for our next one, we’re going to need to dive into the semantics of biome generation, and the formation of your very Minecraft world. When you tap create world on your Minecraft world, a couple of different systems will take place. All of these systems compiled together are the systems that make up world generation inside of your world. For one, we’ve got the placement of blocks. For two, we’ve got the shaping of the terrain and the placement of biomes. And then for four, we have the placement of details inside of those biomes. For example, mangrove swamp trees inside of the mangrove swamp. Now, over the course of the last decade or so, Minecraft has continually been making improvements on the world generation system. They’ve been cutting the doodoo out of world generation and speeding it up, honing it in. There is a check with mangrove tree placement that goes down inside of this biome. When the biome tries to place the trees at world generation. Now, this all gets a bit technical here, but basically, long story short, if the check passes, a tree can form. If the check does not pass, like maybe there’s just water all over the place or already a tree too close, then a tree will not form. This is a pretty straightforward check that’ll happen in biome placement and only needs to happen once because after all, a pass is a pass. Now, on a related but slightly different note, the mangrove swamp biome is also one of the laggiest biomes in the entire game, especially when it generates in your world for the first time. Like, if you’ve ever had a world where you wander over to a mangrove swamp biome and load it in, then you probably have noticed massive lag spikes happening. It might have to do with this one. Well, those massive mangrove lag spikes, they might have to do with this redundant block predicate filter check and a mangrove tree placement. Basically, this goes all into what we were just talking about world generation and performance the placement of trees. There is a check here that runs twice which is absolutely redundant. Now, while we’re talking about world gen, it seems that the devs might be up to something interesting with world generation. Take into context some of the recent teasers, and oh boy, this is big. So, under the ground, we have a couple of different types of cave carvers that will make different shapes of caves. For one, we’ve got the spaghetti carver that’ll form caves like the cave you’re looking at right here. For two, we’ve got ravine carvers that’ll kind of make caves that are a little bit more ravenous. For three, we’ve got another type of carver that will make these big large caves with the strong pillars holding them up. I love these caves. Well, it looks like there’s the chance of another cave carver coming soon. So, this bug fix right here stems from a bug that popped up in 1.21.1, so not all that long ago. This has to do with width smoothness inside of the configured car. Now, of course, a bug fix could always just be that, a bug fix making sure something works correctly for data pack creators. On the other hand, maybe the devs are messing with the generation of caves. I don’t think this is too far out of the question, too, because after all, as we know, the devs just went on a field trip to a mine in order to research the copper golem. Yeah. No, the copper golem probably wasn’t in that mine. They went to a mine in order to research, well, something. Could it perhaps be different types of cave formations or maybe even larger mine shafts? Whatever it is, the fix of this bug combined with that video in the strange trick and how massive the underground is for Minecraft as a whole. Oh man, just the idea of different shaped caves that that’s enough to get me drooling. In fact, I already am. Oh, and an update on the subscribe situation. Good job. You did it. We’re now up to like 32% of you that watch these videos are actually subscribed. So, if you aren’t subscribed, uh, wink wink. The stronghold, the beginning of the end for Minecraft. While I was making this video, I actually learned something big about the stronghold, and that is the fact that the stronghold, I guess in world generation and placement, it prefers certain biomes over other ones. This will mean this whole ring generation, yeah, that takes place. But if there is a preferred biome in which the stronghold likes to be placed next to the ring, well, that’s how the exact location of the stronghold will be determined. The cherry blossom biome. This is the biome in which the stronghold can definitely generate in right now as long as there is room under the ground. Uh, but I guess it’s not meant to be that way. Or maybe it is meant to be that way. I I gosh, I don’t know. I’ll admit it. I need some help with this one. It’s a little confusing reading the bug report here. But basically, the Cherry Girl biome is missing a tag. And when this biome does end up getting this tag, stronghold placement will likely change. This shouldn’t really affect things in the grand scheme of things too much as there have been some changes even relatively recently having to do with the placement of strongholds, but it’s interesting. Not saying this is the case here, but I’ve always thought it would be a cool idea if a specific biome in the overworld sort of signaled a higher chance at having a stronghold under the ground. Almost like these big mountains hint at ancient cities. All right, this is a little combat pro tip for those of you playing in Minecraft right now. vanilla game axes. They’re actually way too strong. As of right now, and all the way back to 1.21.5, axes are disabling shields in combat situations, even when the shield doesn’t block the attack. So, think of it like this. Take this innocent sheep that really never stood a chance at all. If it was theoretically holding up a shield and missed my block, but I still landed a hit on that sheep, well, the shield would actually be disabled as well. So, take for example this other innocent sheep that didn’t suspect or deserve a thing. Well, that basically means it’s like a double whammy. The ax is landing hits and disabling shields. Until the next update is fixed, use this one to your advantage in combat situations. The axe is absolutely capable. Oh, now music and sound. Sound settings. Inside of the happy gas update, they got some beautiful brand new sound toggles added to the game. inside of this next update, a bunch of fixes will be going down with sounds. For example, one of the big ones here, the Ender Dragon. Oh god, why did I just do that? Yeah, the Ender Dragon. This thing that I definitely shouldn’t have put in the overworld. Well, it’s really, really loud. In fact, this thing is so loud you probably tried to turn it down before. And and well, unless you turn your master volume all the way down or off, well, the sound wouldn’t be adjusted. Now, I’ll admit it, sound changes are not exactly the most enthralling thing to talk about here, but just know that a lot of changes with sounds and improvements are coming in the next update. This includes a massive fix that has been a bug, an issue in the game since 2016. Instead of Minecraft, we’ve got like four different difficulty options. We’ve got peaceful, easy, normal, hard. on a peaceful difficulty. Things like hostile mobs should not be able to spawn, but they could actually spawn in certain situations. For just one brief tick, if I go ahead and run this command right here, you can see creepers actually being able to be summoned in peaceful Minecraft when they definitely shouldn’t be able to. Now, sure, sure, this is only a really, really brief summon. But a summon’s a summon, and you’ve actually been able to summon hostile mobs in peaceful difficulty all the way back to Minecraft 1.8. funnily enough, Halloween 2014. I don’t know how useful it is or if it’s even a big deal, but take advantage of it right now because it’s leaving forever very soon. Inside of some of the newer Minecraft updates, you might have noticed a very subtle but kind of significant change to mobs like the horse. For this one, it’s actually going to go for anything that is ridable. In previous updates, when you jump on that ridable mob, you would immediately be placed facing forwards. Now, when I jump on a ride of a mob, I am not aligned with the horse. Instead, first I need to move around, then I get realigned with the horse. So, like for example, check this out. I jump on the horse facing backwards and all of a sudden, well, I’m facing completely backwards. Only once I move do I actually align. This is the thing that got out of wonk relatively recently. And I wonder, I always do if it’s going to relate to some of those horse updates that were allegedly cancelled. No. So, this one’s kind of funny. You know, like unused things in the files. For example, bow tie. It’s inside of the game files right now. You can find it yourself. Ah, yeah. Well, it’s unused. And unused things, they always absolutely have to get removed from the game. After all, having a bunch of unused files inside of your game, well, that’s literally pointless. What’s the point of it? Ah, for example, since 1.19.4, you’ve been able to find this unused texture inside of the game files called white. This is a tiny, minuscule file that has been sitting inside of the game just dusty, crusty, and unused. This texture is 4×4 pixels and is solid white. It is wasting data in memory and getting removed. Meanwhile, yet still the bow tie remains inside of the game to this day. Ah man, I still always think of it. Wouldn’t it be a great icon to pop up in the locator bar when you have something like a happy guest or maybe even a pet dog? They know it’s there. The devs have acknowledged it but continue to not remove it. It’s got to have a use someday, right? Menu fixes. So, we’ve got a lot of them coming up to the game very soon here. For example, let’s say I was chatting inside of my world, like typing literally any important major message. Then I wanted to tap F3 and see my coord. Well, while I’m typing, hitting F3 does not work. This will be fixed soon, and many other F3 and whatever shortcut commands will be patched over soon, too. For example, a kind of a big one here. If I was spectating a creeper and then open to the game mode switcher, while the shader, it completely breaks. If I want to get that cool effect again, I need to back out of the creeper, then re-enter this thing in order to get the cool effect again. Did you know that cauldrons right now, they’re kind of broken? All right, so yeah, check this out. I’ve got myself a floating cauldron. Inside of it, I put lava that is very, very warm. If I touch it, I’ll catch on fire. Now, if I move down below this cauldron and jump up, if I can stand just right, jump up and touch the cauldron, there is a way to catch yourself on fire from the bottom of the cauldron. You got to line yourself up right perfectly with the middle. But yeah, cauldron effects, they can go clean. That’s a cauldron. So, that’s a little weird bit of a problem. And last but not least, today I ask for your help. What in the world does myipm mapped mean? Because they fixed so many things with this. I don’t understand what it means. Is this just a performance thing? Is it a graphical thing? Will shulker boxes and beds look even better soon? So, Minecraft Javi Edition, the devs, snapshots. Hopefully, they’ll be back soon. They did say when they released 1.21.7, about 2 weeks ago now, that they would be pausing snapshots for a few weeks. I feel like at this point, this means any week is game for snapshots to return again. Maybe next week. But for now, that’s just about all we’ve got to catch up on. Thanks for watching. It’s been me, Iron Man. I will see you all tomorrow. Goodbye. [Music]

  1. Anyone else that plays Java Edition notice that ever since the new “Happy Ghast Update” that the render fog has been updated and is making the worlds look a lot more whitewashed? It’s annoying the eff outta me and am thinking on somehow writing to Mojang about it.

  2. 12:50 Minecraft bedrock edition have very much mipmapping issues which causes game environment got glitched or maybe textures not applying properly.

  3. mipmapping is a method to allow 3D "textures" to be displayed on an otherwise flat surface. This can be useful in one of two ways: 1) it allows for shaders to define ray tracing vectors and thus show "embossed" features accurately, and 2) (the more common one) it can allow farway things to reduce shown textures while maximizing overall "gross" detail and improving frame rates by "ignoring" parts of the rendering stream.

  4. Wattles, I get you're predominantly an update channel but maybe only do it when there's some weight behind what you're saying

Your videos are just you saying things and presenting it as fact, maybe try to do an actual Minecraft Series or something

  5. 1. 0.5⁰C I cold but not that bad (me in uk)😂
    2. Mangrove swamp not laggy on bedrock (at least not mine…)
    3. Icy caves, End Island caves (i want end update in 1.22)

  6. Here's an idea for a new weather type

    I call it "Storm"

This would be a biome-dependant weather type that would also add lots of wind to the biomes.

Rainstorms: Happen in plains, forests, and mountains. Monsters spawn and rain and leafs veer to the direction the wind blows. All mobs and players also slightly move in whatever direction the wind is going

Sea Storm: Happens in ocean biomes. Same monster and wind effect, and it also attempts to steer your boat in the direction of the wind. Perhaps wave effects?

Sand storm: Happens in desert and mesa biomes. Instead of rain, sand particles fly through the wind with the same pushing effect. Collectable tumbleweeds fly by as well. A brown fog effect is also applied.

Snow storm: Happens in arctic, snowy mountains, and snowy taiga biomes. Creates several layers of snow ontop of eachother while also creating pale blue fog effect

    What do yall think?

  7. As someone who really wants real updates on Minecraft (specifically Java), these videos are getting super old very quickly. If you wanna cover bug reports or make speculative content CLEARLY label it please.

  8. Your titles should make it clearer that it's just speculation. More and more of your videos are leaning into deceptive titles and it's eroding your credibility. At this point I can't tell what is actual news or speculation on your channel anymore.
