So, first thing we need to talk about, have you seen this new feature that uh YouTube rolled out here? The top fans. Now, if I am right in saying this, this is uh a feature that’s been tested. It’s not officially out, but it’s been rolled out to a certain amount of creators and YouTubers. So, we are lucky enough to be able to test this brand new leaderboard system out. the top fans. Not many or not all creators have this. So, this is super exciting. So, if you guys have been on Twitch before, you’ll understand Twitch has always had like a leaderboard system um where creators can see who their top fans are. Uh and yeah, it looks like YouTube are going to be rolling a similar system out where you guys can earn XP, it seems, by interacting in the chat, by talking. I have no idea how much, excuse me, how much XP you actually get from doing this. But it also seems you can do it from super chats, maybe gifted memberships, but I have no idea how much XP it gives you. But essentially, I can see as a creator who my loyal fans are, the top fans, there’s a leaderboard and the people, the top three, first, second, and third, as you can see, do get a little loyalty top fan badge next to their name to show off in the stream and to me to allow me to know and other people who are the top fans. Now, as well, it’s worth noting this does not stay around forever because the next stream, this will reset. It goes back to zero and there’s a brand new leaderboard for every single stream, which is really cool. I I like this feature a lot because it lets me know who my top fans are. You know, people who are uh chatting the most, people who are talking the most, interacting, all the super chats and people who are supporting heavily. It’s nice to know like who my top fans are in the streams. And I think we can kind of use this new system that YouTube are rolling out into like giveaways. I can, you know, my top three, my loyal fans, the top fans, I can maybe do giveaways for you guys as a thank you from me to you as well. So, yeah, that’s really cool. Uh, Nicole actually did just do a five gifted. Nicole, did it give you any points? This is all test. How much? How like you get XP from chatting? How much? How much do you actually get? Send live chat messages. Doesn’t say how much you get, though. Or send super chats and super stickers.” So, yeah, memberships aren’t on there, which is very interesting. Why would memberships not be on there? Well, either way, it’s it’s very cool. You won’t see that on everybody’s streams. Like I said, it’s being rolled out slowly, but yeah, YouTube live streams are getting a brand new leaderboard top fan system, very similar to Twitch, which is super exciting. I like it. It’s good good to know who my top fans are. Maybe it’s a bit broken right now. Who knows? We’ll test it. But anyway, enough chitchat about that. I just noticed it um as the stream was scheduled. I was like, why have these people got number one, two, three next to them? Like, what is this? I had no idea. Uh but anyway, today we are playing Grimshshire. Now, we actually covered this the demo version. We played the demo on a stream where I was playing and testing loads of farm RPGs. We did play the free demo on Steam, which I believe is still available and we had a blast. We actually rated it quite highly. We had some fun. Uh it was a cool game. It was just a demo though. But today, I have the full version of this game and it is releasing to everybody in 4 days time. I think the 21st and it’s going to be around $15. Now, this is not sponsored, but I did get sent a key from the developers, uh, and they said I was allowed to play the first 15 days of spring. I can’t play anything beyond that until release. We’re worried about recent events affecting trade. Grimshshire is a small village and the only farmable land is the area here. So, usually we trade for most of our food. But until Finn gets back, we don’t know what is happening. Oh no. What if I can’t get a hold of imported cheeses? He is right. We’re in uncertain times right now, so he must be prepared for whatever happens. As such, we’re asking that you make full use of this land to produce f uh produce food. One more thing, if you can try to donate preserved foods, canning, pickling, drying, smoking, anything you can do to make the food last longer. Any fresh food stored here will spoil eventually. And half the time I play a demo and I’m like, “No, I don’t want to play that. That that just didn’t really do anything for me.” But this was one of the occasions where I played the demo and I wanted to play more. That’s how it should be. So, we’re getting loads of plant debris here, which we can compost. And like I said, this is not using stamina. So, we can just go around and pull all the weeds out. Sometimes they want to get a product out there, you know, just rush it, get it done. And you know, sometimes that can be a bad thing if the game’s not finished and it needs more work to it. If you put a rush game out there, it’s just not going to get the love that you know it deserves. It’s all about patience. Take your time. You know, I know it takes years and sometimes you just want to get it out there, but you can’t release something that’s not finished, right? It’s got to be perfect. Especially nowadays, like this genre, this farm, indie, life sim, it’s so it’s flooded. There’s so many games now in this genre. The competition’s high and unfortunately a lot of a lot of games are trying to live up to like, you know, like a Stardew Valley and stuff. And because they’re rushing and not putting a lot of time and effort and love into it, they’re just getting something out there. It’s just not hitting it. It’s just not It’s not doing it. So, I do appreciate a good game where the devs take the time, spend a lot of love on it, create that content, and you get something great like this. And like I said, this is only early access. Cuz herbs are going to be good for cooking. You can have all sorts, right? Mushrooms, we might be able to find them around. Oh my god, look what we need, chat. 300 stone, 100 plant debris or debris, whatever you want to debris, whatever you want to say. 50 compost, 50 stick, 20 mint, and 20 pepper w pepper wart flour. Wow. That’s going to take some time, right? 300 stone as well. But we need 20 mint. So, I’ve got to forage for that because I don’t think we can buy mint seeds, can we? Should we have a look? Can I buy mint seeds? No, I can’t. I’m making compost. Compost, so that’s easy. Um, I can get the compost. I can get the sticks. I need those flowers and mint. We’re going to have to do some foraging, I reckon. That is a lot. Oh, the villagers will help a bit as well. Oh, I thought that was solely meat. Oh, that’s cool. So, it’s like um Animal Crossing and Dinkham. Over time, the villagers will gradually put things in there if that makes sense. Oh, that’s that’s good to know because that would take a lot if it was just me. Thank goodness for the villagers community thrive. I’ll start gathering some sticks. I could probably do this right away. And the stone’s going to be important as well. 300 of this. Wow. Hopefully the villagers donate quite a lot of this stuff. So, we found the mint. Wasn’t it somewhere up here in the mountain? I I found some up here somewhere. I might have to go and have a look. I’ve never seen those flowers, though. This is going to take a long time to get all this. Yeah, I agree. Uh the restful roost, the villagers contributing, it adds to the immersion and it makes you feel like a community, you know, and that’s that’s some of my gripes that I’ve got with uh a lot of farming games nowadays, especially community based ones that even like Stardw Valley, for example. In Salty Valley, you do everything. You know, nothing happens. Yeah, sure, Robin will build the things for you, but you have to pay for it. You have to use the resources. It’s essentially it feels like you’re the mayor and you’re the one doing all the work and everyone else is just doing their own thing. And it it makes you feel not a part of the community, you know, even living on the farm on your own, away from everyone, it does you do feel isolated. Whereas, you know, games like this and Animal Crossing and stuff like that, you do feel like a community and it’s nice when they’re contributing and doing like Rooachcha, you know, Root Apache, the prehistoric stone age farm game that’s solely based on being a clan and everyone’s contributing and doing things around you. It does really make you feel a part of that. I love it. Staying in my farm while the villagers do everything. Yeah, challenge. I wonder how long it would take for the community to fully fill that though. Or will it get locked? Do you reckon there’ll be just a certain amount that be like, “Right, the rest is on you.” Or will they just do it on their own? If so, how long do you reckon that will take? We’ll go to Hazel’s house and we’ll start we’ll start to see. They still got one day because the rain’s finally finished. So, these only work when it’s sunny, which is again immersion, realism. Love it. We do have some things that’s going to start spoiling. Uh should we go to the root cellar and drop off some stuff? Right. So, I like this. This is unique. This is different. Um, so we’ve got to go up and left. I love how fast we are. I’m so glad I chose the extra 20% speed, right? These buildings are so goddamn cute. So, this What building is this one that we’re in? This is the bakery. And then the peelers is just up there. So, we’ve got prudence. Of course, you’re the baker. What do we have here? Right, as you go in, you know, another thing you’ve got to be careful because the shopke shopkeepers, the merchants, they have their own currency. So, you can’t sell everything to them because they’re eventually going to run out of money. like graveyard keeper. So, you’ve got to balance. You got to buy stuff from them. So, then you can sell stuff to them. You know, they’ve got their own currency. Again, realism. Can we change our occupation? What do you mean? The profession that we chose at the beginning. I don’t know if you can change it. I don’t know. Are we going to buy all of them? We need them, chat. And we do have enough money as well. Perfect. Oh, look at this deck. This bush planter. So cute. Use F rather than the mouse click. Yeah, I see. That’s a good tip. The collapse resets the mines. Oh, so okay. So, we’re good like this, right? How do I um how do I leave that ladder? There it is. How far away are we map? Just got to go straight down now. I really enjoyed that. The first time ever going into the mines in this game. We didn’t quite get that in the demo. Um and that was amazing. Genuine question because I've been noticing this a lot, when companies make cozy games and ask people to review it for them, do they specifically ask you to say that the game is like Stardew Valley?
Stardew meets Watership Down? Favorite game + favorite book? I was like "sign me up" and went to Steam and discovered I'd already wish-listed it previously! Sighs… memory ain't what it used to be.
