Stardew Valley Challenge run, Can I become a Millionaire!?

All right. Hello and good morning everyone. It is Monday. Happy Monday everyone. We have made it through the weekend and it is time to get started. Today we are still working through my backlog of games and I decided let’s do one that has been requested for a long time. Let’s do a Stardew Valley challenge run. There’s a couple different challenge runs you can do. You can always do like the uh community center in a year. I decided I want to become a millionaire in one year. Now, this is why it’s a challenge, right? I know that people have done this. I know that people have shown you can do this easily. Here’s how it’s a challenge. Uh, one, I’m bad. Two, uh, I haven’t played Stardw Valley in forever, so I don’t remember how to do anything. And three, uh, I haven’t looked up any guides, so I’m just going to go into this blind. So, here’s here’s how it’s going to work. I’m going to run it. I’m going to try to be a millionaire. We’ll see how close we can get and then if we fail, we’ll keep trying and we’ll get a little bit better each time until we finally hit the goal. I could just, you know, Google it. I could just Google how do you become a millionaire in one year and follow a guide, but I kind of want to try and solve it for myself. So, that’s what’s going to make it a challenge run is uh me fighting myself because I’m terrible. So, let’s uh become a millionaire. Uh, we’re going to go with waffles. Our farm name is uh going to be the million dollar farm. Mozzarella, you’re playing Stardew Valley. That’s awesome. All right, we’ll catch you next time. Hopefully hopefully this this will not be a super long stream. I’m hoping we can hit our goal the first time, but you know, we will see. guess an orange cat. We’ll skip that intro. And the question we want to do is for this challenge, how do we want to do we just want to do the standard farm for the challenge run? Do we want to make it extra hard and do one of these? I think we’re just going to do standard farm since that’s just like the OG. I won’t say the easiest. It is kind of the best, but you know, it is also the original, so I think that’s fair. So, okay, we’re skipping the intro. We’ve got one year to make the most money possible. Uh, let me grab a controller here. So, here’s what I’m thinking. Obviously, we get the most money out of the game in summer and fall. Growing the summer and fall crops is like the most important way to make money, right? So, we’re going to want to have a ton of money to be able to do summer and fall crops, but also we need to have upgraded tools in order to make the most of it. So, if we’re going to make a million dollar in one year, I think what we’re going to do during this time is we are going to focus on getting enough money for seeds and going into the mines and getting um enough ore to do to do all the things. So, I think if we have a copper level hoe and a copper level watering can, maybe even a silver level watering can, we should we should be able to do this challenge. But I don’t know if that’s that’s going to be good enough, honestly. Maybe we need more. But I don’t I don’t think I can get to like gold level in the first first month of the game, you know? Like I’m not that good at Stardew Valley. So, we’ve got our crops watered. Let’s um we don’t need to worry about becoming friends with villagers. There are a couple villagers that if you befriend them, you’ll get like a couple dollars. So, I could do that, but uh we are instead going to go and forge to get as much money as possible on day one. That’s that’s what we’re going to do. I don’t need to worry about saving my grass because I’m not going to grow any animals cuz that’s just too big of a cost investment. for a one-year run. So, that’s what we’re we’re going to forge and hope for the best. I guess we’re going to need a chest, too, aren’t we? So, let’s let’s get working on a chest as well, simply cuz I don’t think I’m going to upgrade my bag. I I think that 5,000 gold is too important for other things to start. So, we’re going to probably never upgrade our bag. I think that’s the right call. I could be wrong, but I think that’s the right call. So, we’re going to need a chest if we’re going to play that way. And I will welcome in the comments any any recommendations. I will hear them out. As long as as long as you are not a professional Stardew Valley challenge runner who can solve this challenge for me, I will take all suggestions, which I I don’t think there’s any of you hiding in my chat, but you know, disclaimer. All right, we should have enough wood now for a chest to start with. Yes, we should also maybe invest in some pathing. I know pathing makes you run a little bit faster, but um I don’t know if that’s worth the energy investment this early on. You know, that’s that’s a big investment. So, okay. So, we don’t need that that that that. Uh we won’t need the hoe for a little bit. We could also build a chair and get into the secret forest early, but I don’t really know that that’s going to give me anything that I need. So, I didn’t want that fiber. We can trash we can trash can the fiber if we need to. Okay, so we’re we’re going to run around and we’re going to harvest as much or forge as much as we can because we want to get as much seed money as possible. Our goal is to go into summer. I think we’re going to need around $10,000 to go into summer. I think that should set us up nicely. So, we’re going to forge until the mine opens and then we’re going to spend a lot of time in the mines. And we’re going to try and get like a bunch of corn, I guess, for fall and summer and see if that can get us a million dollars in one year is the challenge. I don’t know if that will be enough. I’ve like said I’ve never done this before. I haven’t researched this, but I feel like that should be enough to make us a millionaire in one in one year. That is that is the goal. One year millionaire. I also need to play this a little bit to get some inspiration. And we did the uh if uh if you give a mouse a cookie bow if you give a hell diver democracy. And there has been a request for a farmer version of it for Stardew Valley. So I’m playing this a little bit to get a little uh inspiration for uh if you give a mouse a cookie, if you give a hell diver democracy. Next we’re going to do if you give a farmer a farm. and we’re going to do a Stardew Valley inspired uh children’s book. So, we we’re we’re hoping for some inspiration as far as that goes. There’s Haley. Hello, Haley. Let’s talk to her so she can be rude to us. Yep. Very, very nice, Haley. Good, good first impression of the valley. Good job. All right, we forged everything here. We should be able to go up towards Lionus’s area and forge a little bit up there. Maybe even the beach. I guess I guess if I get enough driftwood or enough uh if I harvest enough wood, we can open up the beach and that opens up a bunch of money for you as well. So maybe if I spend the next the next four days before the mines open only harvesting wood, we might be able to get enough wood to go to the secret beach area and that will allow us to get a little bit more money. That might be that might be what do you think over there? You need 300 pieces of wood. I think we should open that up. I think that that will I know that those those like refresh every 3 days or something like that and that gives you a decent amount of money and the goal is to have as much money as possible going into summer for seeds. So maybe maybe that’s the right call. I don’t know what the right call is. We’re we’re we’re going we’re going purely on instinct on this one. We’re going to use that that gamer instinct to try and figure out what we’re doing for this run. So, I think that’s what I think we’re going to use the next 3 days of energy to get as much wood as possible. I think that is the right call. We’ve already used up most of our energy for today. I don’t think we can’t get to the um the hotring, right? The hotring doesn’t open up until later, unfortunately. So, we are we are without the ability to regenerate energy unless we’re eating things. I’m pretty sure. Again, it’s been a long time since I played Stardew Valley, so maybe Yeah, the path is blocked for now. So, when we have like that earthquake or whatever, that’s when we can get up there. Oh, there’s not a whole lot to forge today. It looks like we’ve uh kind of exhausted our options. All right, let’s start gathering wood. Then, like we talked about, we’re going to open up the secret beach and try and get some extra money that way. We’ve got some fun topics for today, too. Once uh once once our regulars are in here, we’ll begin our conversations. And always once we have Bubble and Dex join in, uh we’ll start the the other conversations and fun stuff. Today I got uh got a couple stories and all that sort of thing as always. We love we love our story time here. All right, we we’re out of energy. We’re out of foraging. I think I think we’ve done everything we can on day one that we possibly could. But I like I said, I do know there’s a couple villagers if you befriend them, you can get some good recipes and like a a couple dollars here and there, but I don’t I don’t really think that’s going to make enough of a difference that I want to invest any time into that. So, I think we’ll just sleep. That’ll be day one down there. There’s what? There’s 30 days, 30 60 9 120 days. We got 119 days left to be a millionaire. We still only have $500. That’s not not a great start, but we’re going to need a whole lot more money if we’re going to get uh any any any semblance of this winning this challenge. We’re going to need a lot more money. Maybe fishing. I know. Fishing takes a lot of energy. I don’t know if fishing is going to be worth it. See? So, the trees give us about 20 wood per tree. We need 300. So, that’s five. That’s 15 trees. And we can do how many trees on our energy bar and do two trees so far. I think we’ll be able to get the secret beach unlocked. I think I think we have enough energy for that. I guess after the secret beach, we’re going to invest a little bit of money into uh some more seeds. Am I your chemistry teacher? I am I am not your chemistry teacher. I I do not have what it takes to be uh I I do not have what it takes to be a teacher. th those guys have uh some some iron willpower that I do not have. Uh you know the patience of saints and all of that. So I thought about being a teacher once but I yeah I I couldn’t do it. So teaching is not the profession for me. But he streams Tibia online. Is that a is Tibia is that an old school MMO? I seem to recall that name, but I don’t remember it. Bubble. Yes, we are doing a Stardew Valley challenge run. I was thinking about what to play next and since we’re going through my backlog of games and clearing out all the games people have asked me to play, uh we are we are going to we’re going to do some Stardew Valley and uh cross it off the list. The Tibia is the bone in your leg. I I know. I’m pretty sure Tibia is also like an MMO, like an old school like Tribes or uh one of those one of those old school MMO kind of games. All right, we’re halfway to the Secret Beach about. So, we’re we’re on par for that. I don’t think I watered my plants yesterday. Actually, I forgot I forgot to water my plants. We’re We’re off to a terrible terrible start. play Roblox and buy some Roblox. And I’m I’m on the fence about doing Roblox. A lot of people have asked me to play Roblox. Um, and I I I’ve said that I would and I’ve looked at it and I just I don’t know because Roblox is so like not my audience that I’m worried that if I play it, I’m going to I’m going to attract a bunch of people who will watch me and be interested in it, but they will only be there for Roblox and I will be forced till the end of time to play Roblox. And I I honestly I don’t know what the appeal of Roblox is. I’ve never played it, but just like looking at it, I I don’t understand the appeal of it, I I I get that people can make their own games and can do whatever you want in it, but I just I don’t necessarily understand the appeal of of Roblox. So, maybe my opinion on that will change when I do play it. I’m just I’m I’m worried about uh the the average Roblox streamer about how that experience will go for me. As I told Dex, I I need some I I need uh I need more mods if I’m going to play Roblox. The girls love some Roblox, dudes. See, that that’s incentive not to do it. I I am I am happily married. I have no interest in in anything that uh girls love. I have my beautiful and wonderful, loving, caring wife, and I need nothing else in this world. I have God and I have my wife. So, I I don’t need Roblox for that. All right, we got 300 wood. Let’s um let’s go unlock the secret beach. And I think I’m think we can forge again, maybe. I don’t remember. I I don’t remember how often the foraging respawns. I guess maybe maybe we should have done a little bit of research before we did this challenge run, like some basic level like game knowledge that people should have. Like maybe maybe I should have researched one or two things before uh jumping right into this challenge. But, you know, we’re here. We’re we’re enjoying it. So, all right, let’s get the fishing rod. Let’s repair the beach. And I guess we can spend a little bit of our energy on fishing as well if we wanted to. But if I remember right, fish only sell for like 100 or 200 gold. So, it’s not really super worth the energy investment. But if the mines don’t open for two more days, then I guess we have some energy to spare at least for two days. So maybe we should fish for two days. And then if you get a dino egg, I swear I love Stardew. Stardew Valley recently became the number one game on Steam, and I’m working on making a video on that. uh asking that question, does Stardew Valley deserve to be the number one game on Steam? And I think I think the answer is yes. I I know that a lot of people like when they talk about the best games ever, they want to refer back to like Mario and some of the OG classics. And don’t get me wrong, those games are great. I’m not saying those games are not great, but all those games walked so that Stardew Valley could run. And Stardew Valley truly, I think, deserves to be in at least in the conversation of greatest games of all time. You’ve got a great story. You’ve got wonderful mechanics. You’ve got amazing music, stylized fun graphics that it really doesn’t have a flaw. The only thing whenever we talk about being the best game ever, the only reason why I ever hear people say, “Well, I don’t like it, so it can’t be the best game ever are the same people like, well, I think Elden Ring should be declared the best game ever.” When when there’s plenty more people who don’t like Elden Ring, so like not liking the game, I don’t think qualifies or disqualifies it for best or not best game ever. You know, when we have the conversation about Elden Ring, as much as I hate Elden Ring, I try and be objective about it because we we should have a little objectivity when we’re talking about these sorts of games, but I truly think Stardw Valley does deserve to be in the conversation of one of the best games ever made. And I I truly think has fought tooth and nail for that spot. And talking about game overrating, like Donkey Kong Bonanza, which I’m still hoping will come from Gamefly here soon so we can play it. IGN gave it a perfect 10 out of 10. And I just don’t believe that for a second. Like like we’ve talked about games are overrated. Stardew Valley is a perfect 10 out of 10. So you’re telling me Donkey Kong Bonanza is just as good as Stardew Valley? I just I don’t believe that for a second, IGN. I really don’t believe that for a second. So, I guess we’ll see. You know, I’m I’m excited for giving the game a try. Uh I actually I saw at Costco the other day. I didn’t realize Costco had it on sale for $60 when regularly it’s 70. How’s Costco getting Donkey Kong Bonanza at a discount? I don’t know. But I I do hope I get a dino egg. I forgot. I put my I put my hoe away already. So, I don’t think I can I can’t harvest these spots cuz I put my hoe away because I’m not buying a upgraded backpack for a little bit. So, I won’t get a dino egg yet. In the same way, like I always put Doom, the original Doom, Doom 1993 I think is one of the greatest games ever made. And I would think that even Stardew Valley is a serious contender for knocking it off its pedestal stool for me. I think Doom Doom 1993 is the perfect game. But even still, Stardew Valley, there’s just something amazing about it. Stardew is the best game of all time. There I said it. I think more people could say it. I I I like I said, there’s a lot of people who aren’t willing to give it a chance just because they say, “Well, I don’t enjoy the game or I don’t think I don’t think uh everyone likes that style of game, therefore it can’t be the best game.” And like there is some argument for like if you look at Tetris or Minecraft or any sort of game like that where it’s it’s appealing to a huge broad audience. I I guess you could make that point, but as far like cozy gaming is pretty accessible for most people. I know like the the hardcore Call of Duty bros typically don’t enjoy it, but it’s pretty accessible for most everyone. So, it does have the broad appeal like Tetris would, too. All right, I think we’ve done everything we can do for this day. I guess we shouldn’t let our energy go to waste so we can fish fish the last bit of energy we have. Maybe it took me 11 in-game years to get my dino egg the first time around. That is that is a long time to wait for a dino egg. I haven’t ever completed the museum. Actually, now I think I’ve never finished that challenge. I’m still better about it. So, I mean I maybe that should be my next challenge run is finally finishing the museum because I’ve never done the museum all the way through either. I will say one disservice that there are two disservices that Stardew Valley has done for the gaming world though. As much as we’re talking about being the greatest game ever, there are two things that it has done that have actively harmed gaming. one because it is so popular. Everyone and their mother tried to emulate the game and so we got a lot of Stardew Valley clones that were very very mid-tier cash grabby gross. That’s not necessarily the fault of Stardew Valley, but it definitely contributed to that epidemic. And two, uh, I think Stardew Valley really helped to push this idea that every every single game needs fishing. And I I really don’t think every game needs a fishing miniame. For some reason, after Stardew Valley came out, uh, people really fell in love with fishing, and every single game dev was like, “You know what? Let’s tack on a fishing mechanic. For some reason, not every game needs fishing. So, those are the two those are the two things I will fault Stardew Valley for. Again, they’re not necessarily Stardew Valley’s fault, but they contributed to the epidemic. I played so many Stardew Valley clones that were just awful. We played that Paleia Valley, Paleop Pines. We played uh so many bad ones. The only one that’s good uh it’s still in early access uh and it’s making its way. We played I can’t remember its name right now. I think it’s like Tales of something. That one was pretty good. But again, it’s in early access, so we’ll see if it actually makes it out of early access. I’m very very leery of early access games these days. I’ve been burned one too many time on early access games. And the same thing for the same thing for Kickstarter. Honestly, I’ve been burned on Kickstarter so many times, but there is a board game on Kickstarter that I really want to that I really want to Kickstart. So, I am going to risk it one more time for Kickstart. Yeah, Tales of Mysteria. That one’s really good. Uh there’s a new game on Kickstarter called Prop Hunt and it’s like the Call of Duty prop hunt that’s really famous but in board game form. Uh and that looks that looks like a lot of fun. So I am going to kickstart that board game. I I’ve been burned on Kickstarter board games before, but we are we’re going to try it because it looks like a hoot that game. And there there’s one other board game I really want to get. It’s sold out of stock because those darn scalpers I I really really despise scalpers. Bought it and put it on eBay for $200. It’s called uh Necro Molds and you play as uh you’re you’re a necromancer summing army of golems. But the thing that makes it different is the golems are made out of Play-Doh. So, when you’re creating the character, you actually have like a little a little mold and you jam your Play-Doh into the mold and you actually create the character. And then when you’re fighting your enemies and you destroy your enemies, you smush their Play-Doh golem. And that that sounds like so tactile and interactive and fun. So, I I really want to I really want to play that. That sounds that sounds maybe a little gimmicky, but a lot of fun. So, it reminds me of my favorite board game when I was a kid, which was called Splat, which was it it was it was a kids board game, so you know, it sucks. It’s essentially roll the dice, move the amount of spaces, whoever gets to the end first wins, right? Like that’s that’s such a a garbage mechanic, but you played as a fly, and if you landed on the wrong space, then you got to smush the flies cuz they were made out of Play-Doh and you start over at the start again. And I I absolutely absolutely loved that. I loved smooshing the little flies. I loved the play-doh. Absolutely loved it. Sounds like you’ll walk away with no friends. It It is It is a tactical sort of board game. Uh so that does make it a little harder. Uh it’s hard to find people to play board games with, but I’m sure someone will play Smush the Play-Doh with me. I loved watching my friends cry as I smooshed their army. It’s a good thing. It’s a good feeling. So, when the game is not $200, I will be playing that game. Also, on the topic of games, so my birthday is coming up. My birthday is actually tomorrow, but we celebrated it this last weekend. Uh, since I have to work on my birthday because I’m now I’m now old enough where I don’t get my birthday off. It’s not considered special when you’re old. So, for my birthday, I said, I want to go to Dave and Busters because I’ve never been to Dave and Busters, and everyone talks about how great it is. So, Emmy took me to Dave and Busters for my birthday. And I had so much fun there. And they had a a arcade cabinet. It was the coolest arcade cabinet I have ever seen. Uh they had a lot of cool games there, but they had Cyberpunk Turf Wars. Xarion, thank you for the happy early birthday. And in Cyberpunk Turf Wars, it’s one of those games where it’s got like the mounted gun and you you just shoot at things like that’s not special about. What made it special is one, it had a tactile butt, which sounds sounds stupid to say. It’s a tactical butt, but it did. And it um every time you fired a bullet, it would it would simulate getting kicked back in the shoulder like a real gun would. So that was cool. But what made it super special is that the game is covered in like this plexiglass. Because when you fire the bullet, it actually fires not a real bullet, but a real physical representation of a bullet, like a BB. So you’re firing these BB’s out, and when it hits the things, they go ricocheting all around. So, you’ve got the sound of the gun. You’ve got these BB’s flying around everywhere. You’re getting hit in the shoulder. And it just it sounded so cool. Like, it it it felt cool. It sounded cool. It was really cool to watch all the bullets flying around. It it was so much fun. I was like, I wonder if I could afford to buy one of those machines and play at home cuz I loved that experience. So, I Googled it and it’s a $50,000 arcade cabinet. So, the answer is no. I will never be able to play that at home, but I kind of want to go back and play that one again. They also had a giant physical game of Hungry Hungry Hippos where you could sit on the back of a hippo and you actually had to like pull the lever to open its mouth, which I thought was really cool. So, we played Hungry Hungry Hippos. That was really awesome. Uh they had a fishing arcade cabinet where you had to uh actually like twist a reel to reel in the fish. Uh that was a whole lot of fun. That made my arm really sore. They had an axe throwing arcade game, which I I I couldn’t imagine how they made that work, but they really did. It was a ton of fun to throw the axes. So that was awesome. Honestly, the biggest disappointment uh Luigi’s Mansion. They had a Luigi’s Mansion arcade cabinet. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Luigi’s Mansion arcade cabinet. So, we played that one and Luigi’s Mansion was kind of a disappointment cuz it was very obviously just like a coin grabber. Like it was made to be imbalanced and unfair so that you’d have to pump a lot of coins into it. So, that was a little disappointing that the Luigi’s Mansion was just so so money hungry. Come on, fish. Come on. Why? Why are you being so difficult? Fish. There we go. Holy cow. Flounder. I mastered fishing before any other skills. We got some bait. I don’t think I can put bait on the bamboo rod, can I? I I think that the fishing would be useful for this run, but we’re trying to hit a million dollars in one year. And if I spend too much time fishing, it’s going to waste all of my energy. And I think the only way we’re going to hit a million dollars in one year is if we plant a bunch of stuff in summer and fall, which means I need to upgrade my tools in spring if I’m going to have enough energy to be able to handle that. So, the only other thing we could do is we could save up fish now and eat them later for energy. But that’s only like a temporary solution, right? We we need a little bit of energy. We need some stuff that’ll give me energy for like the first day of summer when I’m going to hoe everything, but after that, we can’t rely on eating things for energy. I just don’t think we’re going to be able to do that. I started Stardew like five years ago. I’m currently in the 20 years in the game there. That I mean that’s just a testament to how amazing Stardew Valley is. And that’s not that’s just I’m guessing that’s a base mod, right? Cuz there’s also mods you can play with. I did debate whether we should do a Stardew Valley expanded run since I’ve never played Stardw Valley expanded and a lot of people talk about how great Stardew Valley expanded is like how much it really expands the game. So, I do want to experience that and we might go back and do that after this challenge run is over. This is not Hell Divers. No. Though I could probably find a mod where you play as a Hell Diver. maybe a retired hell diver after you’ve lost both your arms and legs to the war. How was your birthday? It was excellent. We were just talking about how cool Dave and Busters was. How we uh there was a bunch of arcade cabinets that were super cool. The food was really good. I got a super spicy burger that was jalapenos, pickled jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, and Sriracha uh sauce, Sriracha mayo sauce. So, there was a ton of spicy things on us. That was a good burger. Tons of arcade cabinets. That was that was a lot of fun. So, we did that. We went to REI and got me a Leatherman cuz I wanted a Emmy wanted me to have like a physical gift on my birthday. And you know me, I’m I’m I’m very I trying to be practical. So, I was like, I don’t really want any more clutter. There’s not really any things I need. So, I decided a Leatherman. Having a a multi-tool would probably be a practical thing that I could use and would be smart to have around. So that’s why I chose I should have a A part of me thinks I should have chose Donkey Kong Bonanza, though. I’ve been really wanting to play Donkey Kong Bonanza. So, there’s at least a little bit of like maybe I should have asked for Donkey Kong instead of the Leatherman. Uh and then we we went to church and did uh confession and that I know it sounds weird but like that’s how that’s how deeply Catholicism has like impacted my life and how much I enjoy Catholicism that on my birthday I was like you know what I want to go to church and I want to do confession. It makes me feel better. It’s a good it is a good thing to do. And it it sounds odd but it really was something I wanted to do. So, it was awesome to get to do it on my birthday celebration. Choose it. Now, I I cannot afford Donkey Kong right now. We have, like I said, we spent way too much money on renovating the house. I think Emmy Emmy did the math and we spent like $3,000 on uh on the home renovation. So, we we need to chill until next month when our paychecks come in. next paycheck, I’ll look at it. But we’re going to we’re going to hopefully have Gamefly send us Donkey Kong Bonanza so so that we don’t have to buy it. Cuz I I I really The other thing is holding me back from getting it is you know me, I’m I’m a certified Nintendo hater. You know that I dislike most things that people like that I am fairly confident that I’m not going to enjoy Donkey Kong. The fact that so many people are enjoying it already tells me that I’m going to come in there and I’m going to be the wet blanket. It’s like this is not really that good of a game. It’s all hype and no game. I’m I’m hoping I’m wrong, but I’m I’m a part of me is telling me that I’m just not going to enjoy it. So, uh you know, we’ll we’ll see. Have you played Terraria before? I have never played Terraria. I a lot of people have recommended I played Terraria. Uh I have actually that that was one that I miss. I have never played Terraria like at all. Like I booted it up once when I was at we used to have this uh card game shop that had computers in the back and uh there was a Pokemon tournament going on. So I went in the back during while people were at the Pokemon tournament and I I played Terraria for like five minutes. That is that is my only exposure to Terraria. So that that is also on the list. That that’s part of why we’re doing Stardew Valley today is there’s this big back list of games people have asked me to play or try that I never have. So Terraria is on the list of games that I really do need to uh play and try at some point cuz I’ve heard nothing but great things about Terraria. Also, I did find though my favorite arcade game at uh at Dave and Busters that I really enjoyed is uh it was a piano key game. You had four piano keys and you had to hit them in like a certain order. It was like Simon says but with a piano and I kicked butt at that game and I enjoyed that one. That is one I want to play more of as well. And we we over the course of we got one hour uh we got one hour of un an hour and a half of unlimited play time. So we tried to play every game we could. And over the course of that we earned about 2,000 tickets, which sounds like a lot until you realize that the PlayStation is like 300,000 tickets. So, we got like 0.01% of the way to a PlayStation uh at Dave and Busters. So, the the tickets are rigged. That that is that is too expensive. Are you going to play the game I told you in Discord? Maybe. It’s an Android game, so I need to see if it will port over to PC well for easy streaming. But it it too is potentially on the list. We we do love watching troll games that make you suffer. You know, the little statues you find in like uh Chinese and Japanese style restaurants with like the the little arm that goes like this. I absolutely love love that. I’ve debated whether or not I should upgrade to it, but honestly, like I have the PlayStation 5, I have the Xbox, I have a Nintendo Switch, and I’ve got a powerhouse PC. Like, do I really need a PS5 Pro? I I really don’t. There’s not an there’s not an exclusive that is strong enough that makes me think I need to upgrade to a pro to to get the fullness of it. You know, I am tempted though. I I know a lot of people liked when I played Monster Hunter and the new Monster Hunter is not very good, but Nintendo Switch 2 is getting Wild Hearts S. And I didn’t really get into Wild Hearts, but now that it’s coming to the Nintend Nintendo Switch 2, I am thinking about trying uh Wild Hearts and doing another stream with Monster Hunter, but not Monster Hunter. What’s your PC setup like? Um, I am on a water cooled 4090. Uh, it is a customuilt machine. Do you think it’s worth it to buy a Nintendo Switch 2? That depends. Right now, there are only two games for the Nintendo Switch 2 that you can’t get elsewhere, right? There’s Donkey Kong Bonanza and there’s Mario Kart World. Uh Martin, thank you. Uh thank you. I I don’t feel like the best, but I’m trying. Uh, so if if you absolutely need those two games, then yes, the Nintendo Switch 2 is worth it. But I don’t think Mario Kart is worth it alone. I haven’t played Donkey Kong yet, so I don’t know if that one’s worth it. But I would say if you’ve got a Switch One right now, probably not worth it unless you really really love Mario Kart. Like if you really love Mario Kart, it might be worth it. But that’s like the only instance where I would say that it’s worth it. It’ll be worth it in two years. What did you think of the new Donkey Kong Bonanza? Uh, I haven’t played it yet. It’s on my list. I have it. I’m trying to rent it from Gamefly right now. I want to play it. IGN gave it a perfect 10 out of 10. I don’t believe that for a second. I think it’s going to probably be a I think it’s going to be like a I’m going to say a six out of 10. I think it’s going to be a slightly above average experience. I think it’s going to be like Breath of the Wild where people are going to say it’s amazing, but really it’s just a big empty open world with not a whole lot in it and some shallow mechanics. So, I think Donkey Kong Bonanza is going to be an above average experience at best, but again, IGN gave it a perfect 10 out of 10. So, I might be wrong. I am prepared to say that I am wrong. I’m excited for Pokemon A. I am very excited for Pokemon A as well. that is coming in just a few months. We’ll be playing Pokemon once there’s more exclusives. Yeah, I’ll I’ll tell you what would make the Switch 2 worth it is if we got um if we got an Animal Crossing and a Mario Maker and Pokemon. Once those are on here, it will for sure be worth it. Sun and Moon had way too long of unskippable uh unskippable cutscenes, way too long of a tutorial. It did have some cool Pokemon, though. I I will give it that. Sun and Moon might be even worse than Sword and Shield. I I I’ll say it. Sun and Moon. Sun and Moon is the worst mainline Pokemon game ever made. Period. It is the worst. I will say I will say that the Nintendo Switch 2 does make Scarlet and Violet run a lot better. Uh I I’ve been playing Scarlet a little bit on the Switch 2 and it definitely does upgrade the performance. So if if you enjoy Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, uh Nintendo Switch 2 is definitely the way to enjoy those games. It definitely is better. I despise gotcha games with an absolute passion. The only reason I got roped into the horse girl game was cuz I think the horse girls are silly. We should invest more on farm animal gachas. I I I’m so torn on I’m so torn on um gotcha games cuz on one hand like you don’t have to spend money, right? You can play Genchin Impact, you can play the Horse Girl game without spending any money on the game. Like you can choose to spend money. you really don’t have to you don’t have to spend money on it. But we also know that the way that they are set up causes like addiction in the brain and you got like the whales who are dropping $5 $10,000 a month to try and play waifu simulator. So even though it’s like it’s one of those questions of like should should we regulate humans in that way, right? If they have the freedom to spend the money on it, they’re not forced to. Should we introduce legislation that helps to limit that sort of thing or should people have freedom? Like it’s a libertarian issue, I guess, is what I would put it as, right? Like it’s does the government need to intercede or should people have the right to ruin their lives? And and as we’ve seen, people are simply not responsible enough. You have the elderly who are out there gambling their entire retirements away and not able to afford food. You have the elderly who are out there buying cat food to eat because they’re spending all their money at the casino, right? So like maybe maybe we do need regulations. Maybe humans just are not responsible enough. So I don’t like gotcha games for that. But I also do like the idea of if I earn a paycheck and I have a little bit of extra money and I want to spend it on a game, shouldn’t I have the right to spend a little bit of extra money on the game? So, sometimes it just has to happen. payment processors of big corporations shouldn’t be able to restrict access to media like this. I understand they’re all Gooner games which got banned, but the thing is is Steam willing to uh cowtow in this context. How much further can you push it? And that that that is a solid argument to make. I I’m not saying you’re wrong in that, but also like I think that we are not talking about as enough society how badly pornographic games are harming people, how much addiction is running rampant, and how many problems that are really happening in our world because of it. I I I think we need to as a society start looking at video game addiction seriously. And we’ve talked about this before that video game addiction is not taken seriously at all, but video game addiction as a whole definitely needs to be looked at. The abyss walker said goon. That is a bad word. It It’s tough because a lot of the words a lot of the words in this context are going to be words that I don’t like. But as far as as far as trying to have the conversation, I don’t think goon is necessarily that bad of a word compared to the other words we could be using in this context cuz it is a difficult conversation to have. But it is a conversation we need to have because again it is it is a epidemic. It is a problem and it is something that some point our society is going to need to look at and and start trying to find some solutions for because uh again it it is a problem. It is a real problem. All right, I I made a mistake. I messed up. We need a furnace to to be able to upgrade our tools. And I’ve been selling all of my stone. So, we need to save up a little bit of stone to be able to get a furnace so we can upgrade our tools because we want two upgraded tools by the first of summer. We need an upgraded hoe and we need an upgraded uh watering can. At the very least, I’m just worried where they’ll push adult content as representation of LGBT individuals, adult content, gore, deeper themes. I’m worried about them pushing the boundaries further to suit their morals. Here’s the thing. I’ve seen that argument. Uh, I do think that that falls into the realm of slippery slope because the the um the money processors, their only goal, their only reason to exist is to make money, right? They are a business. So they exist to make money. So what they have done is they have weighed when they’re looking at the adult games, they said that we will lose x amount of money if we ban the adult games, but we’ll gain x amount of loyalty, followers, risk, whatever those sort of things are by not doing it. So, what they’ve done is they have said there’s an actual like there’s a job position in high-risk places like this that are like super accountants and what they do is they just weigh the money. They will say, “Okay, if we get sued because we process this payment, we will lose x amount of millions of dollars. If we force Steam to ban these games, we’ll lose x amount in sales, but we’ll mitigate x amount of dollars in risk.” and they have decided that the amount of risk they they are mitigating through this process outweighs the amount of money that they can make. There is no world no world possible where those accountants look at it and say that it is more beneficial for us to ban Gore. There’s no way there is absolutely no way will they ever say we’ll make more money or mitigate enough risk by banning Gore that we’re we’re going to get rid of. There’s simply there’s simply no way. Our society is way too addicted to gore and violence. There there’s no way they will ever ban that. The LGBTQ stuff is a whole different conversation because like we’re seeing that in real time, right? We’ve seen a couple businesses like Target that made some very bad decisions uh financially in that realm and they have been suffering the consequences of doing those sort of things. So, I don’t think we’ll ever reach that part of the slippery slope simply because they exist to make money and that will lose them way too much money to do either of those actions. But the the worry I mean you’re you’re absolutely right to be worried about it, right? Like as we’ve just talked about, it’s not like humans are the most responsible beings and it’s not like humans are flawless individuals. So, could it come to be? Definitely. But I think it’s a slippery slope, so I’m not terribly worried about that yet. But as we’ve seen with like the most recent election and the way politics has been pointing lately that uh maybe maybe um maybe uh slippery slopes can happen. Maybe sometimes our our worries and nightmares can uh can become reality. We we’ve definitely seen things going way down the rabbit hole in that realm as well as well. So, it’s possible I’m wrong as well. Uh Martin, yes, we we we were talking about adult games. And while I try not to say words like goon or pornography cuz it is a family-friendly stream in the context of the conversation we were having, it is acceptable because we were having a a good conversation about some real problems in the world. I do try to avoid saying those things. Again, I try and be a family-friendly stream, but I think it is a conversation worth having. I think it’s a conversation not enough people are willing to have. It’s truly a very odd condition to exist. It’s a human right to be skeptical in this era. That that that’s a whole that’s a whole another issue like humans and skept skepticism like with the advent of how good AI is getting. Uh it’s so hard to believe anything that is said, right? Because you you hear a story or you see a video and our first question now is well, is that AI? Is that fake? Is that really real? And the fact that there are some people who can’t tell, like if you if you spend any time if you spend any time on Facebook, the amount of people who are absolutely fooled by really garbage AI videos should be concerning for anyone who has uh skepticism or worry for the future. Like, and I know that Facebook also is a lot of bots, so like all the comments aren’t as bad as people say, but also like there was a video of a a floating island in the sky. And some someone said that they found heaven and it was a floating island above Earth that had waterfalls on either side. And yes, probably half the comments were bots, but there were still some old people and they’re like, “Wow, I can’t believe they discovered heaven in my lifetime, or it’s just as beautiful as I thought it would be.” And and and they they just they just accepted it. They just accepted that cheesy AI video on Facebook was heaven discovered in real real time. And that that’s real concerning that people were getting fooled by it. It depends. A lot of YouTubers are family friendly. They still say non-familyfriendly things to do. Family so familyfriendly as a whole is a is a tough concept as well because like yes talking about adult games isn’t necessarily familyfriendly but in the context of morality the overall morality we’re talking about is familyfriendly and the the kind of things that you want to to have in a familyfriendly environment. So is it familyfriendly to talk about from a morality aspect? Yes. But there are people who will get, you know, upset at just the mention of adult games, say that’s not, you can’t even have the conversation. But what what good does it do us to say this conversation cannot be had because it’s not a family-friendly conversation? That doesn’t that doesn’t benefit the world in any way, shape, or form for us to just stick our head in the sand, say, “Nope, we can’t have the conversation because cuz it’s not a friendly conversation.” That doesn’t help the world in any way, shape, or form. Uh, Dex, if I ever got an AI art, it would be 100% to scam old people on Facebook. I’m gonna I’m going to wag my finger at you, Dex. We We We don’t scam old people. That’s That’s very very naughty. Very naughty. We We We are not on the side of scammers. Google should be everyone’s friends. Skepticism is healthy. I don’t I don’t even know that uh Google should be everyone’s friends. I’ve seen a lot of people who who say like even Google is fudging results, right? Like that they’re they’re pushing their agenda and their stories to the top and their biases are coming through. And so I I I I don’t even know if you can say Google it anymore because Google’s been compromised in a lot of ways according to some some deep skeptics. Google is my doctor. JK. Okay. You say JK, but there was actually there was a news story uh that popped up because someone had uh they diagnosed themselves using chat GPT and their diagnosis was actually wrong. So there are people who have used chat GPT uh for for medical for medical reasons and misdiagnosed themselves uh using it. So we we are we are at that point. And the other point of chat GPD chat GPT that’s very scary is uh there have been now cases of people uh people going into religious psychosis because of chat GPT because the way chat GPT is built is it will always agree with you. Very rarely will chat GPT ever say that your idea is terrible or wrong or that you need to seek professional help. And so you have a lot of people who are going in there with these huge religious uh delusions like saying, “Well, chat GPT, I might be the next Jesus Christ.” And Chat GPT is like, “Oh, well, let’s explore that. There’s been other people in history who thought they’ve been Jesus. What makes you think that you’re Jesus?” And and it’s it’s feeding those delusions. And that’s that’s causing a lot of problems. And we’ve now had actual people hospitalized over the religious psychosis from getting too deep down the chat GPT rabbit hole. My husband did that for his shoulder surgery because he had complications and after and chat GPT was like it could be a nerve issue and a blood clot and it was correct. I’m not saying it can’t be correct. Definitely not saying it can’t be correct, but also like just from a standpoint as as as a streamer, I cannot endorse using chat GPT as a doctor because I will get my pants sued off and I do I I like my pants. I like my pants. Don’t don’t sue my pants off, please. So, it’s good if you want ideas, definitely. like I I I like it for the context of like going in and talking to your doctor and having an idea of what the conversation needs to be. Uh cuz unfortunately as we’re talking about like uh the medical world and all of that. Uh there there are some doctors who should not be doctors and there’s doctors who just don’t care, doctors who are who are burnt out. Um and that’s a problem. I’ve done like uh in World of Warcraft, role play is is a really uh really big thing in World of Warcraft and I’ve met some role players who use like text to speech in that game and it is way slower than actually typing it out. Maybe I’m old, but I still Google my symptoms. I mean, is is there a difference between a difference between using Google to Google your symptoms and using Reddit or AI to get your symptoms? Like, uh, I I don’t think there’s a difference. I had someone tell me, uh, bachelor’s in medicine surgery is useless because AI would replace doctors. I think the sheer stupidity of the statement inspired me to move to a different nation. Uh yeah, there’s there’s a lot of people who who overestimate AI and and what that comes from is I think I think people overestimate AI because they don’t understand how chat GPT works. They don’t understand that the vast majority of the AI programs are simply a large language model. It’s basically a sophisticated um auto text predicting text. So like it’s just choosing the most likely outcome. It’s not actually like intelligent. It’s not actually thinking. So I think that because a large portion of people don’t understand how it works is why people overestimate what chat GPT truly can do. Although although we will give it to his credit uh for fun last night I asked chat GPT I asked hey um what should I stream based on all of my stuff here what game should I stream next cuz I didn’t really know what I was going to stream next and chat GPT did tell me that I should do a challenge run for Stardew Valley and we’re we’re we’re at a high viewer count right now so you know may maybe maybe Cad GPT does know what it’s talking about right. This is this is the most viewers we’ve had in a while. So maybe there is something to it. The my name is Richard and I’m singing the corner playing my recorder as a fire song. That dude has like he’s playing actual concerts now because of that, isn’t he? Like he got so famous from that meme that he’s like doing actual concerts. Choose it as a high school. Yeah, I I I think well so it is going to be the next you know how for a while there everyone was told like oh you have to go into the trades you have to go into the trades you need to you need to um you need to be an electrician or a plumber go into the trades. I think it is going to be the next one of those. I think everyone’s going to be forced into the IT and they’re going to realize that there’s not that many IT jobs open for them, right? Like I I think that it’s just going to be the next the next big uh trades thing. Who is Richard? It it is is a song. It’s a song that’s popular on YouTube right now. It’s some guy playing a recorder. It’s a It’s a pretty catchy song. Uh I’ve never seen it all the way through. I just see people reposting it mostly, actually. But I I I do think that we’re going to have an excess of IT workers here soon because everyone’s told go into it. Go into it. But also like you know there’s uh there’s a lot of furries in it who can afford very very expensive fursuits. So maybe maybe it maybe there is something to the it cuz those fursuits are uh expensive especially. Have you seen Have you seen the uh the furs suits in China, the like more realistic ones rather than the the more cartoony ones that we have here? Like there is there is some really uh impressive fursuits I’ve seen in in China. Really impressive. It’s absolutely hellish. I would not recommend. Yeah, I I I would agree. uh it especially if you’re like in the customerf facing part of it. I I could not I I could I I no I I could not stand to be in like basic level it where you’re just on like phone support. Have you restarted your computer? No. Okay. Restart your computer. Is it plugged in? Plug in your computer. Restart it and then try again. like I I could not I do not have the patience or fortitude to do to do that. That that that is that again that requires a a level of person that I am not. I’m a furry hater. I I know that it’s really meme and popular to be a furry hater, but I I’m with Abyss on this one. Like there there are some bad actors in the furry community just like every other community we’ve talked about. uh you know that there there’s definitely always going to be bad parts of fandoms, but for the most part, I I really don’t understand the the random furry hate. They’re they’re just hobbyists and enthusiasts like anyone else who enjoy doing doing their thing, right? So there’s there’s no issue with them on a core core level. They just want to dress up and and do it’s basically cosplay, right? Like it’s the it’s the same thing as if you want to dress up as someone from a video game. It’s the same basic idea, right? So, but why don’t you like them? Like, have have you taken the time to examining yourself and ask why why do I not like them? Cuz a part of being human is having biases, but also examining those biases and saying why why am I this way? Is it is it trauma? Is it is it illness? Is it a bias that’s bad? Is it a prejudice? It’s it’s always good to take a moment to examine those things and ask ourselves those questions. Why? Why am I this way? I know Dex wishes I would ask myself that more. Have I Have I What? Have I made a furnace? Uh, I got I got the supplies to make a furnace. So, we can actually make our furnace today. And then, if I remember right, it’s five it’s five copper to make one bar. And we need five bars to upgrade our tool. So, we need 25 copper to make five bars to upgrade a tool, which means we need 50 copper to make two upgraded tools. Is is my math math thinging? Is that correct? Oh, you know, I’ve also been selling my coal like an idiot. So, uh we we are trying we are trying really hard to ruin this run, aren’t we? Like I’m doing every mistake every noob could make. I needed that coal to run my furnace to upgrade my bars. Uh, we messed up. Speaking of cosplay, I just saw some guy in Red do a bayonet cosplay. He slayed. It was intricate and detailed detailed. I didn’t even know it was a guy. I think the mathematical mean furry hater is 13. They’ve barely had a life retrospect on. I mean, uh, you know, I I was a cringy 13year-old, too. So I definitely think that age probably does play does play a part in it. But just because someone is young doesn’t mean we shouldn’t encourage them to to have a healthy tool such as introspective and retrospective. They may not use it. Right? When I was a teenager I was one of those I know everything. I don’t need to listen to you. I’m smart. I’m grown. I know everything sort of people. Uh and I regret that now. But you know having the tools available is always a good thing. Whether or not they use them that that is that is up to the individual person. But having the tools available is important. It’s important to teach the tools. All right. We need some coal uh which we can make if we if we can just go and grab grab some wood. wood turns into charcoal, which I can use, right? Like I think I I think right if we put wood in here. No, wait. Can’t am I wrong? Can’t you put like five wood in there turns into one charcoal? Am I wrong on that? Does anyone played Stardw Valley? Can anyone tell me? I I’m pretty sure you can put wood in the the or No, that’s a different It’s a charcoal maker itself, isn’t it? That’s a totally different Isn’t that a totally different machine? That’s I’m thinking I’m wasting I’m wasting more time. I’m wasting more resources. I I am Oh, I am a Okay. Well, we wasted half the day. We’ve wasted half our energy. This challenge run is going going very very poorly. We are we are behind. Uh let’s see if we can salvage it. Uh I don’t know the Asgore thing. I think that’s from Delta Delta Rune, right? Like there’s there’s a whole meme of like Asgore running over someone in the game and they’ve turned it into running over furries. Is that is that what the Asgore thing is? I too cosplay. Would Would you all like to see my cosplay? Do y’all Do y’all want to see St. Waffles cosplay? All right, I’ll be right back. There you go. This is This is my current cosplay that I’m working on putting together is my Hell Diver helmet. So, we’ve got a helmet that’s got a fully takeoffable mouthpiece, which is absolutely wonderful. I’ve got the cape to go with it. Now, I need to work on the rest of the armor. It’s John Hell Diver. So, that is that is my cosplay so far. Um, now I need to find a spot for it. I wish I could afford the rest of it, but uh to get the full armor set is going to be about $2,500. And as we’ve talked about, you know, I just dropped $3,000 on a bedroom or Emmy and I both combined dropped $3,000 on a bedroom. So, uh Hell Diver armor is kind of on the low scale. We have to redo our bedroom or our bathroom next. We got to put new flooring in our bathroom. So maybe once I’ve paid off uh the floor and the bed and our car, we will finish the Hell Divers cosplay. Thinking of doing Hell Divers Cosplay, too, but probably the Masters of Ceremony Heavy Armor or the gold version. That would be awesome. I would love to see that. And like all my cosplays that we made in my own two hands. I I do not have the skills to make cosplays myself. Unfortunately, I am I am not handy or crafting uh crafty in any sort of way. I am I I am I’m jealous of those who are because I do not have I do not possess such capabilities unfortunately. Uh the the only artistic talent I have is and it’s debatable at best would be photography. That’s that’s the closest thing to artistic skill that I have is my photography. And I would argue I would argue my my YouTube videos count as art, but based on the the 100 views I get on every video and that’s it. I I would say that if it is art, it is not very well-liked art. So, you know, cinematography is a thing. Content creation definitely requires skills, but uh I I I don’t quite consider them up to the level of art yet since they are not uh not good by the public standard. At least I think they’re good, but uh you YouTube has decided that it is not good. To be fair, most of the cosplays and characters with very simple outfits uh like Aki from Chainsaw Man, you know, I I watched one episode of uh Chainsaw Man, and I did not get into that, but I feel like I’m missing out because I see so many people uh talking about Chainsaw Man. Maybe I should give it another shot. Where should I post this guy? Uh you can just throw it like there should be like a pictures part of the subreddit. The only anime that I can think of off the top of my head that I would say is for everyone is Freren. Freren is an anime I think everyone should watch. Full Metal Alchemist is an anime I think everyone should watch. Um, My Hero Academia is an anime I feel like everyone should watch. Those are some good ones. Those are my Waffles approved animes that I highly recommend. Full Metal Alchemist, Frerin, and My Hero Academia. Nope. Which Which one, Dex? Which one do you have a problem with? It’s pretty good list except for My Hero Academia. I can’t stand Deku for the life of me. Deku. Deku. Deku is a little uh a little annoying in the first few seasons. He definitely is definitely cries a little bit too much. That’s fine, Dex. Throw it in general. I I do agree with that. He He is a little annoying for the first couple of seasons, but like But like what what anime protagonist isn’t annoying in the first few seasons? Like uh Yuyu Hakasho, Yusuke is an annoying pervert. Uh One Piece. Deku’s W or uh one uh Luffy is an annoying voice. Uh he cries a lot too. Uh so like every every main character has some annoyance at some point, right? Potato, welcome in. I am a potato. Welcome, Potato. Been having an absolutely banger slay the spy run while watching this stream. Awesome. What uh what ascension are you on for Slay the Spire? Are you doing an ascension 20 run or have you have you beaten the game yet? Are you on any ascensions or is this just like base Slay the Spire? I would I would stream Slay the Spire more. I really enjoy Slay the Spire. That is probably one of my favorite games of all time. I truly enjoy Slay the Spire. However, uh it’s a very boring game to stream. Like people, for whatever reason, people do not enjoy watching Slay the Spire. So, I don’t stream it because for some reason, people really do not like watching Slay the Spire. Maybe it’s just because I’m bad at. Maybe that’s the problem. But people do not enjoy Slay the Spire for whatever reason. Trying to beat the game as The Watcher. The Watcher is my favorite. Um, basically with the Watcher, the way I beat it and got lucky was just doing a pure um, uh, stance stance swapping mode, swapping between calm and fury. That was the way that I beat that one. It’s just a simple stance swapping deck. All right. Unfortunately though, it’s a little bit past my streaming time. I got to go get ready for work. So, let’s save our game. We’ve made it 10 days into the challenge run. 10 days down, $110 days left to go to make a million dollar. We have We have what? 2,000 3,000. So, we’re we’re what? Three 3% of the way there. We’re 3% of the way through our challenge mode run uh in 10 days. So if that if that math maths we’ve used 8% 8% of the day to make 1% of the money. That math says that we’re not going to make it. So we’re we’re behind so far. Uh so we’re going to have to pick it up for the next one. I do like the ironclad. I like uh strength build is a lot of fun, but I really love a blocking build.
