Golem Statues, Shelfs & New Dyes | Minecraft Preview
Well, we’ve waited a whole week and there’s no snapshot. This, my friends, is Minecraft preview for the Bedrock Edition of the game. And the removal of experimental features in this preview means that the copper golem is officially going to be part of the third drop. We had kind of assumed this would be so, but now it’s confirmed. It’s out of experimental. It’s definitely going to be a part of the full drop. So, what’s in this preview this week? Well, copper golems are going to turn into statues. They can be interacted with, and you can also use redstone comparators with them, too. This preview brings us more changes to the copper golem, but there’s another surprise. A new block related to inventory management that also interacts with redstone. Let me introduce to you the shelf block. It is here for all the different variants of wood. Oh my goodness me. Doesn’t this look just utterly fantastic? A new shape, a new texture to work with when building. The back texture is also kind of interesting. This is going to be a welcome addition. But my friends, it’s not just aesthetic. It has functionality, too. But first of all, we need to see the crafting recipe. Just take six of your stripped logs and put them at the top of the bottom. That will create six shelves. So, what about interacting with the shelf? Well, we got some fancy retextured items that I put into each of these. Here you can store up to three stacks of items just by clicking on each of the free spaces. You will then store your items from your hot bar into the shelf. And if we want to take those items out, we just right click like so. When we’ve already got items in our inventory, we will simply directly swap them with what’s in the shelf. Here’s where things start to go to the next level. Something has changed about this shelf. Do you notice what it is? Because when I click on it now, all three of these items get swapped together. How cool is that? And it gets even cooler. This was done with the power of redstone. So, if this shelf receives power from somewhere, like here, you’ll see that its texture changes. The bars in front of it get removed. And these actually link up together. So, it’s when we change its redstone state that we get this functionality of being able to rightclick on it and swap these items. But now, I’m going to rightclick from this side of the hot bar. And you can see it still swaps the ones on the right hand side. This is where we can probably all debate the rules of how this should or shouldn’t work or what your preference would be. But Moyang have settled on this right hand side of the hot bar approach. And as I said, it gets more powerful. Let’s go ahead and drop some items into here, power it with redstone, and then go ahead and right click. Oh, wait. Maybe I have to click on this one. No, they are supposed to connect together. and I’ll take a wild hunch and guess that they need to be the same type. So, let’s try that again. Connect them all together. Right click. Oh, look at that. We just swapped six slots in our hot bar. That’s pretty impressive. I like that. So, the next step is, of course, to throw in some more items. Have three of these hooked up together and just right click on it anywhere and swap your entire hot bar in one go. That is pretty impressive. I could see myself setting up to build and putting my building materials into these shelves, having several of them that near where I’m building. And as I want to change block pallet, I could just come over, swap my entire hot bar. That’s that’s a really interesting way to do it. Right now, you’ve seen that it doesn’t really matter where I click once these are connected together. They all swap together. But let’s go ahead and change this so we’re only doing two of them connected. And again, it’ll be the rightmost side of the hot bar. So, if you got two connected, it’s just the six slots to the right. And then if there’s only one, it will be the three at the right hand side. I really like this idea. I like that it’s also not using a UI, but something in the world that you interact with to address inventory management. That’s pretty cool. It’s also a new building block as well. So, lots of positives about this one. But now, how about we check out these new textures? First of all, I’d like us to take a quick look at the classic vanilla textures because there is a little bit of a problem. These ones right here, they have the same shape and that can be a really big problem if you’re color blind. And some of you out there use vanilla tweaks and know that they had a solution for this. This is the unique dyes resource pack which gives those textures their own shape. I’ve really liked this for the longest time and now Moyang have embraced the idea by redoing all of these textures. Some of them look pretty similar to their originals and some of them have changed a fair bit. They’ve also got this little underline below it. It’s like the dye is on a pallet, but I will say I don’t think they’ve given these enough of a distinctive shape. They’re very blobbish and similar to one another. And if you imagine that they’re all grayscaled, you probably have a hard time guessing the difference between some of these at a glance. Also, putting the little pallet on the underside makes them all a little bit more uniform as well. So, I think they’ve gone in the right direction with this idea. It probably just needs a little bit more work. Now, before we get to the big big changes with the copper golem, we got a few other copper related changes in this preview. Hostile monsters now have a chance to spawn with copper armor equipped. They can also pick up copper weapons and armor, too. And I have been flying around this world trying to get a feel for how often you’ll see copper armor spawn on these things, but I haven’t seen a single one yet. I’ve seen some gold. I’ve seen some leather. Maybe this is rare, but I haven’t got all day. We’ll probably have to wait until the Java edition comes around to get the exact numbers on that. And with copper chests, we’ve had some fixes for their textures. So, when you open this up, the top side there actually has a nice shiny texture. And here is another little amusing fix. The totem of undying can actually be picked up by the copper golem. And if it then gets slain while it’s holding this, it actually activates the totem. But then the copper golem would become passive and it wouldn’t do anything. So that’s been patched. We also saw in the first video that we made about the copper golems that they actually ignored trap chests and this is indeed a bug and they’ll now interact with them. Right, buddy? Yeah, that’s the way. We also explored differences between items and there was one that I didn’t investigate, the bundle. It turns out that the copper golem was sorting all the bundles together. It’s now only going to sort the same colors into the same chest. Another curious change was the distinction of items that had damage. Previously, a damage sword wouldn’t be sorted with one that was undamaged. They would need the same value. This has been changed. So, now it’s just the same item type and damage is ignored. And I said damage a lot. And what I actually meant was durability, but I think you knew that. On the note of durability, you could wax a golem and then you could unwax it with your axe and there would be no durability applied to the axe which has been patched. The copper golem also now turns its head to look at the player when it’s actually looking at the player, which is something it didn’t do before. You can see it’s turning its head. It’s looking at me. If you have a renamed item, it would have been sorted separately from an item of the same type. And this has been changed so that they would be sorted together. That one I’m not so sure about. I kind of feel like renaming items in a filter is important. So, you’d have to use some sort of item that never goes in your sorting system if you wanted to use an item as a buffer. If you watched this video of mine, you’ll know what I’m talking about. I shared a contraption in there that uses this to filter items. should have gone first on the list because it kind of feels like a big deal. Um, you can just right click on a golem now and it will drop the item that it’s holding and then you can pick it up. So, that didn’t go directly to me. It actually got dropped on the ground. I’m just going to step away. You can see it’s on the ground. Then we can pick it up. Please tell me what is wrong with this picture. That’s right. It’s not actually a picture, is it? These, my friends, are copper golem statues, the latest edition in this drop. They are utterly fantastic. They come in four different stages and you can make them strike a pose. Look at this. They’ve got four different poses that they can do. And I must say, uh, four feels a little bit limited. Maybe they’ll be adding some more. But this interacts with redstone. So, let’s go ahead and put some redstone dust behind them. And now you can see that each of the poses has a different redstone signal strength. One on the left going up to four on the right hand side. And picture it. You’ve just made some sort of like Aztec ruinous temple out of tough blocks. And at the entrance, there’s one of these guys just standing there on the side looking like a statue. But, you know, if you right click on it, you can activate a secret entrance. I think that is a really good thematic fit. Anyways, these statues, they age just like regular copper golems do. And that means that you can wax them to preserve their state. And you can also then take the wax off. And if you want to scrape them back down to this age, you can do that, too. But what if you go one step further? Just pay attention to the eyes. Bam. They turn into an actual copper golem. That is so so cool. If your next thought is, how do I get one of these? Then you are on the right track. You need a fully oxidized living copper golem and some time and it will just eventually age and turn into one of these statues. This actually happens. Oh, did you see it? It happened right there. It’s at least really quick from after spawning them that they turn into the statue. And of course, if I were to give this guy a wax, he wouldn’t turn into a statue. But yeah, wherever they are, they just go into one of these statues. It does say that they’ll pick a random pose. But every time I’ve seen this happen, it’s this pose here. Now, we just got an entity to turn into a block, and I can’t help but feel that might be exploited in some way. Pretty sure the redstone community will figure out some crazy cool use for that. But I think that’s a Minecraft first, right? A mob that turns into a block. Anyways, if the golem is holding an item and it changes into a statue, it’ll drop it onto the ground. And what happens if it’s been named with a name tag? The change log says that it’ll keep its name. Okay, it’s changed. I’ve actually got two of them here cuz we’re going to conduct an experiment. So, this one we’re going to break. You can break it with an axe and pick it back up. I’m going to put it back down. And that time it got its random pose. Now I’m going to scrape it. Oh, and it’s remembered its name. So, it can go into the inventory. Interesting. And then this one will remember its name, too. But yes, you can break these blocks and pick them up. But yeah, that’s all the things to know about the copper golem statue as of right now. What do you think of this addition? I love it. I think this preview was really good. And look, they fixed the color of the biome tint in the swamp. Yeah, I thought I’d mention that cuz that was kind of weird. This brings me to the end of my video. So, uh, leave a like if you enjoyed it. And if you’d like to check out some music that I’ve been working on recently. Earlier today, while I was waiting for this preview, I finished up a demo, and I put it out on my Soulside Eclipse music channel. It’s called Reassembled. If you want to listen to it after watching this video, you’ll find a link down below. All right, then. Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you in the next one. And bye-bye.

I uploaded a new demo track to my music channel today

What do you think of the new ladder animations? Looks rather jerky
Ooh, shelves are gonna make such good molding in larger rooms!
I love the shelves. They will be a perfect addition to my Walmart builds.
can you run hoppers into
the shelves??
Would be really cool if the shelves went beyond 3. Get home from an adventure and dump your whole inventory and swap it for a fresh loadout. Assuming they work with hoppers and can easily be loaded and unloaded by them. If you just wanted to dump things not on your hotbar you could click 12 of them which would trigger an observer so it unlocks 9 of them and you can immediately click again to get your hotbar back, or more
Mójame really out did themselves with the shelves!
Finally!!!
bc ppl who use dye r color blind
i swearrr to god the java snapshot BETTER have a change to the confirm command execution dialog because this is still breaking soo many peoples minecraft maps
so like a triple item frame
Copper Golem is something else, I feel like in different game now. When will it out?
We bedrock gamers don't care we have second armor stand😂😂
It is time for vertical slabs
Oh damn, since shelves can save hotbars. KitPvP about to go crazy for that
Inventory update…bit by bit
Shelves!!! Shelves!!! SHELVES!!!
cant wait to have vertical slabs
ve
ve
vertical slabs
I think the shelves should replace the slots starting from the item you have out, going to the right. If your slot is too far to the right, it just does what it does now.
The builder in me is way more excited than the redstoner
Shelves are like shulker boxes. Imagine when you're gonna build something and fully swap out your entire hotbar with building blocks, that's so cool.
Shop building nice
It would be really cool if it connected with a shulker to replace the whole inventory
the shelf block looks modded I never expected something like this but glad its here
Now you can accidentally build a shelf in Minecraft 😜
I kind of wish copper golems remained entities upon deactivating, that way they could be clipped into blocks and positioned more freely like armor stands.
i feel like the reason the shelves swap from the right side of the hotbar is because most players keep the important things (tools, food, the essentials) on the first few slots, so mojang probably wanted to make sure players weren't accidentally swapping out their important stuff with whatever was on their shelves, which is a little bit of attention to detail that i really appreciate.
I feel like I'm gonna cry, the copper golem makes me so happy! So glad to see the copper boi get justice!
Dang I thought they were adding new colours which would be crazy 😂
Vertical Slab baby
I just wish there was a way to craft a copper golem and copper chest separately.
I would really like to see different oxidization levels be more or less stringent on what they sort. So a shiny one would be super particular, might care about durability levels and names, then an exposed one might care about names but not durability level, etc
Insane afk farming potential.
Ok but where is all this for java :<
What happens if the golem turns into a statue while in a field of tall grass or flowers or something? Or a half-slab?
Does it just replace the block it's standing in, or does it wait until it's in an air block to shift?
thought we were getting new colored dyes😭🙏
Be great if the Redstone could change the statues pose.
I would love to see a pvp style game where you have to swap between a combat hotbar and a hotbar that allows you to progress towards a goal like either you can have wind charges to shoot the opponent or blocks to tower up
Scar and Gem are going to love the shelf. I swear Scar especially has been hoping for them
it should go left to right not right to left
wtf
Stick the copper golem statue in the shelf. But copper needs more uses, we could use copper item pipes, that can attach to hoppers droppers and autocrafters.
Not gonna complain about more decorative options, but I wish the items were centered on the bottom of the shelf instead of the center, not a big fan of the way it currently looks
This is more like modded minecraft
