For some reason, if you make them travel at a diagonal, they travel at 11.3 blocks per second. But in Minecraft, we could change anything with commands. And as of the new updates, we can now change them to about 8,000 blocks per second at the maximum velocity. For note, the speed of sound is about 343 m/s. And that’s a staggering 23 times the speed of sound in the real world. So, what exactly does Mach 23 do? Well, it would ionize the air. It would melt the minecart itself and probably create a uh, you know, a shock wave that would blast everybody’s eardrums and break glass in a 5m radius. So, maybe we should just keep mine carts as they are.
