What’s The Best World Size In Terraria? #terraria

Terraria has three main world sizes: small, medium, and large. Which one is really the most enjoyable for a regular everyday playthrough? Let’s start off with small. This is a surprisingly great option, especially for a shorter playthrough. Resources are denser, so it’s a lot easier to make progress without as much grinding. Overall, though, it is still a little bit underwhelming, so I wouldn’t suggest this, especially to a new player. Large has the complete opposite problem. While there are far more resources across the world, it’s spread out so much more. Large worlds are really only fun with multiple other players and a million hours to grind. The final option is medium, and obviously this is by far the best choice for the average Terraria player. Lots of materials, somewhat spread out, but the world is still typically rich with a lot of useful content.

  1. In all of my years of playing terraria i never even considered choosing world other than large. Hell, i'd even grab a mod for even bigger world size if there is any

  2. All 3 are great options, but I feel like large is the best option, as it captures the grand scale of terraria I feel isn't in the other sizes. Honestly I wish there was an XL size

  3. Small is great if you want a quicker playthrough for w/e reason, but small worlds get less loot its not uncommon and in cases just missing. Something like a Celestial magnet from the sky islands might just not exist in a small world. The world gen is also a big gamble. Sometimes small worlds just dont generator well. I've made a world once where the Jungle was in the middle of the world at spawn.

  4. Large worlds have a lot more ores , chests and all kinds of loot at all . I started my play though in small world because I heard that it's easier and faster progress in small world , it's not true , small world has much less content and a lot of things aren't working there . For example if you want to use gravitation potions tactics to fight the twins , you have slightly less time in small world between landing on ground and borders of space .

  5. To me, anything below large world is too claustrophobic to get anything done, and the only problem of the world size is that… It's way too small. My most requested feature ever since I started playing this game in 2017 had been an XL and even XXL world, ANYTHING that can make terraria exploration feel fresh again.

  6. Small or medium would be fine if you’re alone or just wanna play through it fast.

Large is where it’s at. Half the fun is grinding and finding items.

  7. I hate small worlds because if I play on a high difficulty, any arena I build will have its top part occupied by harpies and wyverns.

  8. I used to play on medium worlds, but after playing on large worlds, i found that they work the best for me. I love having some natural areas in the game, i don't want to leave a mark on every inch of the surface

  9. It really depends on what kind of playthrough you plan on doing. For me I like to do class runs on master here and there, so I always use medium, though if I want a playthrough where I spend a lot of time on it and build things with detail, I use large. For a fast playthrough though or if I just want to try to speedrun the game (I'm dogshit at it) I use small.
