MINECRAFTS HUGE NEW COPPER UPDATE + NEW BLOCKS, RODS, & MORE ARMOR IS HERE (snapshot 25w31a)

Ow. Besties, the sun is beaming. I’m suited up. And most importantly, oh baby, snapshots are back with so many banger features. Now, in honor of today’s snapshot, I went ahead and spelled the word out in the British version. But seriously, oh my god. You take a look at all of these features. This snapshot is absolutely gigantic. And oh my god, what is that? In honor of is so exciting, but there’s only one spot that I could begin. The OPA. Actually, I lied. We begin everything today on the main menu. No new panorama, of course. But when creating a brand new world, you may ask yourself, is there an experimental toggle? No, there is no experimental toggle. That will mean that every single one of these gigantic whopper changes today, the shelves, the golem, whatever, you can check them out inside of your world. And whenever the next update releases, whatever it is, well, it’ll have everything here inside of our controls. We’ve got brand new settings here, right here. Attack, destroy. You could change it from hold to toggle. So now, let’s say I was inside of a world. All I need to do is press the use button once, and I’m not pressing a mouse, and it is just smashing and breaking blocks. You press it again and it’ll stop. Wowee. Now, in a more combat-minded situation, this makes me wonder if I had a cow down and I wanted to attack it, is this gonna just uh Oh, it’s timing my hits. Or no, it’s not even hitting. Okay. In survival, I mean, if I have a cow down and then I go ahead and hit it once, it doesn’t want to spam hit the cow. All right. Well, never mind. Fine. You live today. Inside of the mouse settings screen, we’ve got this option, invert mouse X. You can go ahead and turn that on. Invert the Y and well, yeah, it’ll go ahead and invert the mouse. Oh my god, this is crazy. I’m going to turn it off. In a control screen, we got the sprint window right here. This changes the quickness that you need to double tap the forward key to sprint. So, if I go ahead and turn that off and I double tap W, well, like I literally don’t think I can double tap to sprint inside of my world. It’s not working. If you were like me and change all the controls, it is default to seven. Now, check this out because when I load a world right here, oh, whoa, that was different. So, we actually have a gigantic change to spawn chunks inside of the snapshot that we’ll talk a little bit about later on in the video. But check that out. When I load a world or create one, that screen is completely different. And when I jump back into it and load it again, again, it’s different and it feels way quicker than it used to. Keep in mind that it’s known so for the Vibrant Visuals update, the devs are going to drop a performance update for Java Edition. So, bit by bit, piece by piece. Over the next couple of updates, we should hopefully see even more performance improvements. Now, you go ahead and keep that jazz in mind because next is the copper armor added to Bedrock Edition a long time ago on Minecraft Java Edition today. Oh my god, this stuff. It feels so illegal still, right? I feel like I definitely like I probably shouldn’t be making copper armor inside of my world for whatever reason. It feels wrong now. This copper armor stuff. Oh, it is so tight and fresh looking. And look at how good it looks on me. Even in my handsome suit. Ah, well the copper it just makes me look even more handsome. But seriously, it just feels a little bit illegal, right? It can’t just be me. Now armor wise, statistically, this thing is going to fit into the tier list between iron armor and leather armor. So, when I put copper armor, my armor gets a little bit less worse. No, no, less good. But here’s the thing. At least from my testing, in most situations, copper armor, it’ll actually do you just fine. A creeper right next to me. That was one of the most potentially fatal things of all time. And I survived. Now, for my next magic trick, a copper armor right here. Oh, man. Let’s check this out. At last, we can see durability wise what it stacks up to when compared to iron armor. So the boots right there, it’s about the 50 a durability less. The pants about the same thing. The chest plate I well the chest plate is actually more like 70 durability less. And then the helmet it’s only about 40 durability less. You know how it goes. I’m your update guy. Over the next couple of days, I’ll be testing out all of this new update stuff in a whole lot more depth. So if there’s anything you find or something that you’d like me to try out, comment it down below. Next up is back over to the oldfashioned crafting station because oh mama, copper tools as well. You know, over the past couple of the weeks, months or so since the stuff was initially added, I’ve been thinking about it and I love how Mojang just changed their word on the idea of copper tools and armor just not being a thing because they are so good. Take this for example, a copper shovel. If I go ahead and mine a dirt block, I mean, that’s pretty quick looking right there. Like obviously not instantaneous but not really noticeable in speed when compared to a hoe shovel when compared to a shovel. I don’t know where I am today. I didn’t even have any coffee today, man. This is crazy. So iron shovel mining a block right here. Technically the copper shovel is a little bit slower, but you can’t really notice it. Come on, you’re lying. A copper bopper sword. So, this sword is going to fit into our sword tier list right alongside stone sword right now because well, the swords actually don’t have enough diversity when it comes to how much damage they deal. Like an iron sword deals six, a stone sword deals five. I wonder if perhaps maybe we could be looking at potentially adjusting the other tools in order to make more room for copper. Check this out. With a copper sword, it is going to be the same as a stone sword. Two wax and smacks and the cow is toast. Chomping a tree down with a copper axe. You might be wondering about it. Yeah, that’s pretty quickly. Basically, all of these copper tools, this goodness, well, it’s all like actually pretty good here. It’s pretty sweet. Thinking about how easy it is to find copper inside of your world early on and how good this stuff is when compared to iron. Like, it’s not that different. Well, I will test it more, but this update might have quite a bit of shakeup to the natural progression and the tools that you use in your world. Next up is over to the furnace. inside of the blast furnace. We can speed this up a little bit faster. Once I have copper tools and I am done with them, they’re toast. No, like literally they’re toast. I could smelt these tools up inside of a furnace. And same thing is going to go for the armor if you wanted to, but you can smelt these tools up inside of a furnace for the brain new copper nugget. Alternatively, inside of a crafting table, you could take the ingot, throw it inside of this thing, and get yourself nine copper nuggets. These nuggets are reverse craftable. You can smash them back down into an ingot with no need for fire. And yes, yes, cats out of the bag with these ingots inside of the craft. Okay. Wait, no. I How do you Can you not craft? Uhhuh. Oh. Huh. Okay. All right. Well, that’s awkward. That’s my bad. I guess you can’t craft it. So, next up, for this one, all I need is a tamed best friend. Now, interestingly, no horse updates have crept into this snapshot, but we do have a new horse gear. I need to go front and center right here. No saddle for now, but instead copper horse armor. Oh my god, look at how good that stuff is. It’s got that copper tone. It’s got that other copper tone on the saddly bit right there. But there is no saddle, of course. Keep in mind, if you want to use and sear the horse, well, you’ll still need to find your saddle that you sheared and dropped on the floor and forgot about copper horse armor with a saddle on. Oh yeah. Fortunately, you can still see that little green part underneath the saddle. Dude, this stuff is so good looking. Statistically, when it comes to the horse’s armor, though, I’m surprised that there’s not like a way to see the horse’s armor on the hot bar, right? I thought that was a thing. Oh my god, the horse armor. I was wondering about this. I don’t think I’ve mentioned it in a video. Maybe we talked about it on stream, but like, yeah, where was the horse armor? The question is answered. I wonder if this is perhaps hinting at some of the other horse changes that were allegedly leaked earlier on this year. Now, the copper sub. Oh, you bet. You got to keep it in mind. We’re going to come back to it. There’s a lot more. But instead, next of Oh, we have to segue over to the shelf. Bam. The shelf block. A complete surprise in last week’s Bedrock preview. Oh, he’s made it over to Java, too. That is so good. So, for starters here, the aesthetic of our shelves. Due to the differences in Minecraft Bedrock and Java, they are going to look slightly different. And dare I say, I prefer how Java looks. I like how the shelf looks on Bedrock, but I love how the shelf looks on Java. Mechanically, exactly the same. At any given moment’s time, you can go ahead and interact with any slot on the shelf and put an item into it and listen. Oo, we I didn’t remember hearing that on Bedrock. Or at least it was way quieter. But I love that sound, man. Oh, this is the most painful thing of the day. I’m so sorry to say this, but the shelf, if you want to craft it, and you haven’t heard about this yet. Oh, three of those. Three of those. Oh, it’s so painful. Six to strip the logs. And it’s mainly just painful because stripping logs is such a pain. Like, you have to place a dot and strip it, then pick it back up. But whatever. We good vibes only today. The shelf block, you place a dot and look at how nice that looks. Now, the shelf block, just like on Bedrock Edition, it doesn’t need to be mounted on a block. You can just place it down and it will place down. The back texture of the shelf has a completely different texture. In this video right here, we talked all about the shelf recently. And wait, take a look at how you will hold this thing in your hand. It’s kind of weird. Like you’re slapping it sideways, right? Of course. Of course. So many people have noticed. It’s like vertical slabs or maybe even better, some kind of fancy pedestal block or something inside of your world. Man, this is so cool looking. And the build potentials, I mean, they’re insane. Just like it can on Bedrock Edition when you can put a stack of things inside of it. I said it and I meant it. A stack of things. That could be one thing. If it doesn’t really stack, that could be 60. And if it stacks like that, that could be up to 64. If it stacks like that, wow, this is so powerful. Oh man. But it gets even better. So check this out. If I had three shelves placed down right there, lever, lever, lever. If I go ahead and give a little bit of redstone to a shelf, it actually completely converts over. And listen. Oh, it’s deep. It sounds good. That’s a romantic sound. When I interact with a shelf, when it’s in redstone mode, three things from my hot bar will be pulled out. It’ll always be these first three if it’s just one powered shelf. And listen, so many sounds. Now, if I go ahead and add on to that right there, then my shelves instantaneously expand and connect a little bit longer, interact over here, and the same exact thing kind of is going to happen. I’ll admit, when you start playing around with the red zone, it gets a little wonky. But here we go. In drag right there. And bam. Now I have six things pulled out for my hot bar. Go ahead and expand this one more time. You can expand it to a maximum of three blocks or nine spaces. That’s an entire hot bar for switching out instantaneously. And the sound. Oh, dude. I just love them. All right. Next up, let’s talk about spawn chunks because earlier on I alluded to them being different. By different, I meant that they’re gone. Yeah. So, when you create a world, no longer will spawn chunks be a thing. That makes me wonder. Game rule. Spawn radius. Yeah, that’s still going to be a thing. What about wasn’t there something for like spawn chunks or something? Or was that not actually a thing? I I thought there was a game rule. Now, this one I could see being maybe a little bit controversial because spawn chunks have been in the game forever. But according to the devs, spawn chunks incur a memory and performance costs for all players and have outlived their initial technical purpose of keeping spawn ready for players to join in. But we want to recognize that spawn chunks have been used for farms over the years. So removing them straight up without having other mechanics, hey, maybe not good. We believe that the niche held by spawn chunks has now been filled by alternate methods of chunk loading, such as using portals or pearls. So we can go ahead and remove them. So check this out here. When I load a world, it’s going to happen really quick, but that spot, I’ll slow it down in editing. When that spot is loading, previously it showed the world spawn chunk loading. Well, actually, it could show spawn chunk and the area where the player is. Now, it’s showing the chunks that are loading around the player. And that little progress bar, well, that’s a progress bar. How quick it’s going. Alongside all this, we have what I believe is a brand new command, the force load command. If I go ahead and use this command, I could go ahead and add the chunk that I am standing in right now. And if I wanted to, I could go ahead and set this to be a chunk range, like a 3×3 area, and force load it forever. By using the force load command, you could basically recreate spawn chunks, maybe if you’re on a server or tried to set something up or whatever. Keep in mind that that is of course an option or the other option that was added to the game earlier this year, and I think what was the spring to life update where you could basically use an ender pearl inside of a stasis chamber. So something like this, to load a chunk indefinitely as well. Now, speaking of statistics, bam. Oh my god, they’ve gone ahead and redone it. This screen, the F3 screen has been completely redone. Now, this screen is crazy right here. There is way different information. It obviously looks entirely different. And bam, F3 and F5 will now access a super secret menu in which you can actually control what is shown inside of the F3 screen. So, maybe I don’t want to see my system specs. I could go ahead and turn those off. And then inside of the F3 screen, system specs are gone. This is absolutely crazy. And in a way, we saw it coming. You see, inside of the snapshot, there was an absolutely gigantongous amount of bug fixes going down. Many of which have to do with the debug screen and additional information. This F3 and whatever stuff. Copper golem. Copper golem. Yes, the copper golem. Oh man. Oh my god. We finally made it. I just made a short yesterday talking about the copper golem, how to get it. Now, it wasn’t on Java, but no, now it is on Java. Take a look at this tiny little guy right here. Oh my god, it’s amazing. So, the copper golem. This is going to act just like it does on Bedrock Edition where you could place a copper block down. Waxed or unwaxed, it doesn’t matter. Place a carved pumpkin on top of it and boom, it’ll pop down into your world. When it does so, it seems that the copper golem is always facing in this direction. So, what is that? South. And oh my god, it’s just like it is on bedrock. It will walk around, do its own thing, and this buddy is not fully axidizing and statutizing, but whatever. Whatever. You do your thing. Oh my god, dude. Look at them. They’re walking around and doing stuff. And then the copper chest as well. They’ve made it over to the game, of course, too. And dude, what are you? I don’t even know what to say. All right, so check this out. Copper golem. Copper golem over here in an isolated environment. Let’s say I had myself a copper golem inside of this chest. Maybe I had like a little bit of pumpkin seeds. Meanwhile, inside of this one, I have a lot of pumpkin seeds. And check this out. As we watch this, eventually the golem. Hey, but stop staring at me. Eventually, as we watch this, the copper golem will take up to 16 seeds at a time. If I interact with you while you’re doing your thing, well, I think I was too slow. But if I’m a little bit quicker, I could actually take the seeds from it. So, like, check this out. If I put things inside of this chest right here, give the cop golem a little bit of time. Well, our golem boy will only be able to hold up to one type of item and up to 16 of those items at a time. But if I interact with the copper golem, like basically whack it. Well, then I could actually take an item away from the copper golem. Maybe you picked up the wrong thing. Like I don’t want it to hold the flowers. What are you doing? And look at how he holds them. Dude, um, wait, where are you? Um, never mind. The copper golem. Oh my god, you’re so tiny and you are so amazing. But there is more to the copper golem as well because allegedly speaking over time when it fully oxidizes Uh-huh. You know what it is? I was doing it with waxed copper. As long as I have unwaxed copper over time the copper gollum when it is unwaxed it will fully oxidize. And when it does wait a second, you can make them in the different ah angles as well. But if this guy is unwaxed eventually, if left to its own means, it should eventually stop moving. Pick a random pose and turn to a statue. And the copper statues look like I said earlier for the shelves. Maybe I’m biased, but I think they look a little bit better over here on Minecraft Java. Our copper statues. Dude, these things are so cool. So, you place one down in your world. You interact with it, and it will change its pose. We have up to four different poses for the statue. And we can see here the running pose. It definitely looks a little bit different on Java. It’s like leaning and tilted a little bit more. I like it so much more than how it looks on Bedrock when it’s walking or running. Like, don’t get me wrong, it’s cool, but like the small tilt and whatever’s going on here is so much better. If I walk up to Copper statue with his pose, I go ahead and m it and this pose will reset. Oh. Oh, man. It didn’t work like that on Bedrock. This is so sad. There’s only one thing that could enlighten warm my day up a little bit and one way that I’d like to end today’s video. So, today’s snapshot, an absolute banger. Such a big one. Make sure you smack that subscribe button. There are more updates on the way every single week. Oh, the lightning rod. Now, this thing, will you go ahead and take a look at every single rod in the game? The lightning rod. We were just talking about this. It will now actually oxidize. This will mean that you want a fully oxidized lightning rod, maybe for the top of your build or just some kind of cool decoration. Well, yeah. You can now oxidize the lightning rod and it wax it in whatever state to keep it however it’s oxidized. Oh my god. Let Mojang cook. This is the first snapshot and they have already gone so hard with this update. What do you think is coming next? Call it down below. Smack that like button and subscribe. Thanks for watching everybody. It’s been me Waddles. I’ll see you tomorrow with a video and a stream. I’ll see you again tomorrow. Same exact place.

MINECRAFT SNAPSHOTS ARE BACK!! Minecraft snapshot 25w31a is a giant snapshot that adds tons of new copper armor, copper gear, copper chests, shelves, as well as new copper horse armor and better lighting rods! This update could be Minecraft 1.22 or Minecraft 1.21.9 its not too clear yet.

  1. Wattles I used to love your videos but I found that recently you've been putting out click-baity videos and it's just not very enjoyable to watch. I think I'm gonna get my Minecraft news from ibxtoycat from now on.. sorry to unsubscribe but the videos just aren't hitting the the mark anymore

  2. Bruh I said i prayed and it came true finally I don’t have to play bedrock to do a survival world on this 🙏🫡🔥

  3. They really need to change how copper tools/armor work, because it currently has no valid purpose

It should have time-based durability rather than use-based durability to give it a niche

  4. If mojang can add all these useless variants can they just give us more variants all blocks we actually want like maybe terracotta ??? Or more color blocks in general

  5. I am still hoping they add copper pipes for item transportation.

Not as fast as water streams and bubble columns, but a lot easier to set up and more aesthetic. And would complement the golems quite well.

  6. Cooper items should have something that makes them unique compared to other materials. Like how Netherite is lava resistant, and Gold is best for enchanting. Also, would like More nuanced blocks like other types of bricks/stairs for the blocks that don't have them yet.

Also, still hoping one day for a cooking/brewing update.

  7. Still missing the point of copper tools as another step in progression.
Why would you waste time and resources to make copper tools when iron generates quite often somewhere around it?
Don't get me wrong. It's nice to have them. The problem is not the tools themselves but the progression. Progression is making most of the lower-tier tools abundant and immediately replaceable. Which is going to be the same case with copper tools.

  8. If they fix the toggle attack, this could make it so we don’t need auto clickers for farms!! That would be huge for automating mob farms like raid & witch farms!

  9. But copper nuggets have no use except for making copper bars, iron and gold nuggets have a use for lanterns and golden carrots. Maybe they will add a new use for the copper nugget soon

  10. I think we need oxidized versions of the copper armor and tools, idk how they'll code it but I assume it will be based on how long the items are equipped but still have the same durability

  11. My problem with the Copper Tools was a lack of durability to make it worth it.

Less than 1 Stack of Blocks of Durability, will both, in short and long run, not be worth the time.

and the fact the Pickaxe can't even mine Gold or Redstone is a double-gut punch for anyone hoping to get something out of it… especially when many predict more usability between Copper and Redstone in the future as a whole, and right, Copper can't even mine it???

That feels like a bit of a ripoff.
