Is The Minecraft Handbook Still Good in 2025…
The construction handbook is 11 years old and it’s practically one of the four Minecraft bibles. So, let’s see how it holds up in 2025. Okay, that’s already a sick looking castle. I have played Minecraft for a decade and I still can’t build anything like that. Okay, then there’s a dramatic falloff to the most ugly looking basic house. I can build that, although I suppose this is to teach you the basics. Damn, there’s a French named building. That looks pretty cool. Although there is a dramatic lack of blocks because this is around 1.8, you know. Where’s copper? Where’s amethyst? Where’s my beloved glazed terra cotta? Oh my god. What the hell? That’s one of the coolest builds I’ve ever seen. Why? Hold on. I’m sorry. This book is meant to be 11 years old and bad. What’s going on? Okay, this is more my level. I’m less impressed by this. Oh, and a maze. I don’t know why you’d ever need to build a maze, but to any crazy person watching, there you go. Okay, then another insane mega build. than than another basic build. Then another insane build. Okay, this book seems to be either really really impressive or really really basic. There is no middle ground. And as a handbook, I don’t understand how it’s teaching you to get to this stage, but the builds are cool nonetheless. In the big 25, I’d give it a solid 7 out of

Those big builds are more for inspiration than how to build them. Sometimes the best builders are inspired by other builds they see and try to incorporate some of its style into theirs.

As someone who owns all 5, I can confidently say that in most instances they hold up pretty nicely

The book shows you what you can do and what other people can do.
They did make updated books up to I believe somewhere between 1.11 to 1.15

All the basic builds it shows you incorporates the techniques you need to do the mega builds. It just shows you the techniques in a really scaled down simplified way so it doesn't come off as impressive with the teaching pages.
Something peculiar is that the pictures in the book have shading and shadows, while minecraft at the time did not. Huh, foreshadowing maybe

They’re not teaching you to build the crazy stuff, they’re showing off what other people have built.

I like the last build because the creative ways with the gold, endstone, ore, and all of that paired with the old textures just feels nostalgic 😌
