Terraria has plenty of useful NPCs, but some of them are definitely better than others. Who’s really the most useful NPC in the game, though? Here’s my top five. Number five, the Armstealer. This NPC is amazing for any ranger class playthrough. He’s also the best NPC for getting pylons since him and the nurse are happy enough together in any biome. Number four, the merchant. This guy has all of the essentials: healing potions, arrows, torches, the piggy bank. Everything the merchant sells is valuable. Number three, the nurse. It may be a little cheesy, but taking advantage of the nurse can make any boss fight a breeze. Number two, the Goblin Tinkerer. Not only does this guy sell some really useful items like rocket boots, but reforging is also incredibly useful no matter what class you’re using. The only reason he’s not number one is because his prices are absurd. Number one, the demolitionist. Grenades, bombs, and dynamite. What else could you ask for?

Lol… Bro forgot about guide… Yea guide is the most useful npc.. but lots of people use wiki that's why they don't understand the value of a guide… And also dryed..

Good lost but I'd definitely switch goblin tinkerer with demolitionist. It seems you forgot about the work bench that let's you fuse the best accessories in the game lol

Ok don't get me wrong but the only one the only best I'm the best NPC is is them the magic one the wizard wizard yuppie is the best one you want to know why he sells the music box and you probably never know what the music box does but if you equipping your inventory slot then it will record some background noise and then you can combine them to make it the day music box and you can hear different sounds like you can you have to the desert and it plays the deserts and when you play the music box and I have a choice to make a lot of them I wish the next update they make is called music box extra where there's 10 more are 15th maybe 85 more music boxes alreadythen have to add a new bio because you have to go to the hollow to get these music boxes, so that means don't have to add a lot of stuff
Tinker Workshop alone makes Goblin Tinker great

Most useful NPC is the happiest one to whom I can sell everything for the correct price.

There's no way the STEAMPUNKER and the MECHANIC aren't considered here? Even as a huge fan of the demolitionist I'd trade the grenades for clentaminator and wiring any day of the week.

Guide is #1 purely because you cannot progress to hard mode without killing him and spawning the wof
Guide is one because there momenta where i remember a recipe, yet forget one ingredient, specifically molotovs, because i forget pale ale is needed, or the void bag.

Bit off topic (but kinda not) I think the tax collector should work in a reverse for overcrowding, like the more people there are the happier he gets, it just fits the idea of “I wanna tax as many people as possible” that he has going for him.
