THEY ADDED HOPPER SHELFS! THIS IS HUGE FOR SERVERS LIKE HERMITCRAFT! #minecraft

Turns out Minecraft listened to me. The new shelf can take input from hoppers. So that begs the question, what can we use this for? First, quickly, the basics of how it works. A hopper can feed into a shelf from any side, including the front. But the best side is definitely the back because you can’t see it. A hopper at the bottom of a shelf will also feed out the items. The only strange thing is what side the hopper is doesn’t matter. If you put it on the right side, it’s still going to put it in the first slot. That’s because it’s always going to feed it from left to right. I honestly thought the powered ones would be useful for swapping to a building block when you run out. and then we could use a hopper on the back with a chest to instantly refill when we take out. Unfortunately, that’s not going to be how it works. Even where it’s powered, the hopper is only going to feed into the shelf that it’s attached to. So, if you want to make something like this, you’re going to have to set it up something like this, which is a little bit more annoying. One of the things that everyone wanted to make though was a vending machine, and you can do that. Around the back of the vending machine is all of your stock. The only issue with this one is the limitation of hoppers. If you take something out of vending machine, you’re going to have no guarantee that it fills it with the same thing. But Hermitcraft style shops are going to have no issue. I’ve always hated this way of paying for items in Minecraft. Using shelves to take out a stack and then pay in a separate place. Not only does this look 10 times better, but your stock is not going to run out as much as chests because you can auto feed into them around the back. I can’t wait for shops to be built like

  1. Why are you shouting? The fake enthusiasm and strained tones in these kinds of videos are ridiculous, it screams scripted and doesn't seem genuinely interesting when the person showing me has lost interest from retake after retake. Just record yourself candidly and upload. It's more engaging anyway.

  2. You could potentially make it not trust-based by putting a glass pane in front of it, make some kind of cycling system to select which item you want (whichever item is in slot 1) then only hopper it into a dropper to give it to the player once the payment has been made

  3. wait wait here is an idea to make it BETTER

instead of refilling every single one of them, just make copper goelms to go and put them in chest

  4. 0:40 surely you can set up one block of storage that then gets split into three different hoppers that feed into the shelves, instead of making 3 blocks of storage

  5. I know there’s gonna be various better redstone methods with the shelf I’m not sure of what but the simple organization aspect and the hopper mechanic can be very useful maybe a way to store data or something

  6. To add do the shop design, if you set it up so that you have to pay first to reveal the shop, and lock the hopper, then when you grab the item, it closes it, it makes it much more steal-proof.
