  1. literally the first thing I do in my world is upgrade my pickaxe so I can dig a 4 wide pit around my evil biome. I bet you can’t believe what the first thing I do when I get into hardmode is!!! (yes it’s absolutely dig 4 wide holes around the evil V. it’s boring, sure but it’s honest work)

  2. Maybe infection biomes should have a size limit, but when it's reached, the older parts get removed to make room for more spread. Or maybe Spawn should have a protective aura to guarantee that there's at least one safe space

  3. Biome spread is great bro, i think that since day 1 until now.

People complains about it from lazyness and skill issue. And the lazyness comes primarily because they just want to boss rush the entire game

First thing first, the spread of the evil biome does 2 things: It makes you have to think strategically on if you are going to just isolate it, or purify it. Or another other apporach
And the second thing is it makes you value your world that is FINITE, unlike minecraft
The terraria's world is finite and has limited resources, the spread makes you value it and want to protect your would

And also when entering hardmode, the V that spawns is necessary, because it gives you the underground hallow and corruption for light/night souls, and other drops. As well as making you again, have to strategically think of a way to protect or purify your world

TL DN: Biome spread is a great and unique mechanic, and people complaining about it usually just want to rush the bosses instead of actually playing the game

  4. To be fair if it never spread then it would be easy to get rid of it not super easy but if you get lucky and get a small one then it’s easy
And having a constant sense of danger that is spreading kinda acts like a timer where you wanna beat the game before it spreads to much, while this may be hard for new players once they realize what they can do to prevent it it makes it much easier to handle
I think it’s a good idea even tho I do hate when it happens

  5. I can already remember remember little me wondering why the hell my favorite biome is now purple and spreading throughout the world with no stopping.

Kinda wish terraria gave more ways to delay biome spread and made it more clear to new players instead of just leaving them to figure out why their whole world is being destroyed with nothing but vague clues

  6. Fighting against time to wrap things up just to gone through tedious task to temporarily drive away the evil biome with expensive goddamn cleaner in a sandbox game known for taking a lot of time to enjoy kinda doesn't work, hope they change it to just have one block of evil/hallow spawn on either desert surface or tundra surface because underground is where it cause problem

  7. Hot take, biomes should spread up and down, without going sideways. And by up I mean up. Creating new blocks to expand cave biomes to the, eventually space. With adding new mini-biomes inside of those pillars, of course.

  8. Biome spread is literally the most annoying thing in terraria, but the game wouldn't be the same without it. Many players enjoy the struggle to maintain the balance between light and dark.

  9. I ALWAYS play Terraria with the Begone Evil mod because of how much of a headache biome spread is. It really dampens a lot of what makes Terraria good in the first place

  10. The main way to counteract it is to purify it, which is not fun, since it requires you to grind money for Clentaminator solutions. Alternatively, you can dig a moat around your base, which also isn’t fun, as it’s a time sink for no actual gain, just avoiding penalty. Not to mention how NPCs refuse to live there. Biome spread also doesn’t do anything interesting on the surface biomes, frankly. For the underground, it turns the normal caves into something fun to explore, especially the underground ice biome. But the surface? Aside from the desert and ice biome, the surface doesn’t really change in a cool way from being taken over by a spread biome, it just becomes that spread biome. Really quite lame, honestly. Imagine something actually cool happening if your ocean got corrupted, instead of it just spawning corruption enemies and causing NPCs to move out. That would be great, and would give me a reason to NOT always want to stop the spread.

So really, I don’t hate it, I just think it’s undercooked and needs more to it. Removing smashing altars causing more spread biomes to spawn was a lazy change that didn’t actually address the issues with spread biomes at all.

  11. honestly it would be so much less annoying without the stupid “V” of evil biomes. if they spawned straight vertically like prehardmode you could just make 4 hellevators and quarantine the corruption/crimson and hallow right when you get into hardmode and deal with them later, but instead you have to tediously follow their spreading path down to the underworld and waste so much time for no reason. it wouldnt fix the problem but would definitely make it easier.

also there should be some kind of new content unlocked if you do manage to purify your world, right now theres no incentive to take action outside of the fact that your npcs might leave if it spreads too much, which is more of an incentive to rush and finish the game than to actually deal with it. you dont get any benefit from getting rid of the evil biomes, youre only free of a potential threat of them being there. just saying its pretty lame to have such an inconvenience just be an inconvenience and nothing else, a reward from the dryad or something would be nice at the very least.
