Is Terraria Impossible For New Players? #terraria
The biggest complaint about Terraria is that it’s too difficult for new players to make progress. But is this actually true? Let’s talk about it. I don’t think Terraria is completely impossible to learn. Especially if you play with friends or have prior knowledge of some game mechanics, getting the hang of Terraria can actually be pretty easy. With that being said, I do think that if somebody were to go into Terraria solo and with no prior knowledge, it would be pretty frustrating to get through. The game hardly tells you what to do, where to go, or how to make progress. And while the guide is there, a lot of his advice is very cryptic. I think that an easy solution would be to bring back the tutorial world to PC.

I started playing on the latest version completely blind, the early game can be really frustrating but once you beat the brain of cthulu the rest of the game is easy to orient in
Figured things out just fine myself for the most part. Granted, that was back in 1.1. There’s a LOT more content to sift through for new players to find their way these days
No but man it sucks that it doesn't warn about spread before hard mode which screws over new players worlds.
When i played terraria for the first time i decided not to use the wiki or any external tools, only the little knowledge about the game i had prior to playing it, i had a lot of fun discovering and exploring the world, the achievements and the guide were my biggest help since they showed me the progression of the game, i had a lot of fun and didnt struggle too much or get frustrated.
Sadly i think the problem is that new players really dont want to go through the slowest part of the game when they have no idea what to do, so they just wander around aimlessly, becoming more and more bored because they dont know the objective of the game and/or dont bother reading and learning even the most simple mechanics, a lot of people just go into it thinking its 2d minecraft but when they realize its much different they are already bored and tired.
Its actually not that bad
People please watch Throarbin’s “how well does terraria…” series. He gets a friend who has never played terraria and plays with him without telling him a single thing and they’re not allowed to use the wiki. Right now they just got to early hardmode and it’s very informative
Terraria, without player error, is better at directing the player to the end of the game than Minecraft.
I think the achievements help alot
I thought every platform have tutorial world, cus i only play mobile
Wait. The tutorial is only a console and mobile. I thought it was on PC too.
Fun fact i actually beat terraria without Wikipedia mostly getting trained to not give up back when I had my Xbox 360 holy sh- ocram was hard 😭 so anywho yea though some things I use Wikipedia now after I beat terraria (not 100%)
As a terraria player I played for three days and beat the game and got the zenith without focusing on it. And no I didn't use a tutorial world.
I think my biggest gripe of the game is, yes, getting newcomers into the game…but under a different issue.
Most friends or acquaintances who've played quit at Wall of Flesh. Most found him too hard; others wish they had better gear; even with best Pre-Hardmode Gear. I think I see the issue.
Most of the early hardmode gear that usually gets swept under-the-rug by "better" gear should become Pre-Hardmode/Wall Of Flesh gear–better gear to fight WoF and a sampling of what Hardmode gear is like.
when i first played i had no knowledge about it and i couldn't progress past wood armor
I gave it a try a while back with a friend and it wasn’t too bad after seeing some gameplay on yt shorts but we did have to find a video on basic progression to figure out what to do next
I have 20+ hours on a character and have only platinum armor
I mean by just mining and exploring you’ll naturally fight the eye, bee, and evil boss+ you’ll run into the dungeon due to the guardian then probably talk to the clothier who will say come back at night. Most of prehardmode is unmissable.
I played terraria (ps4) and I DIDNT use the tutorial world and with no knowledge and solo I beat the game learning was not super hard on my first ever world was also a expert world
And this statement is absolutely true. If I have to visit the wiki from time to time after 1k hours, then what can we say about new players who don't know anything about the game yet
Terraria is intuitive. You just kind of go with the flow and explore and you figure things out naturally.
I beat terraria in like 2 months on my first playthrough, and now I'm down to 5 days.
