Is Pre-Hardmode Terraria Better Than Hardmode? #terraria

The vast majority of Terraria players prefer hard mode over preh hard mode. But is this really that much better? I actually think pre-h hard mode has some pretty big advantages and it’s always been my favorite stage of the game. And here’s why. First of all, you can fight the bosses in any order you want. If you really wanted to, you could even skip every single preh hard mode boss and go straight to the wall of flesh. Hard mode isn’t nearly as open in comparison, having a lot of mandatory bosses, which gives the player less freedom. I also like how pre-h hard mode is more focused on exploration, especially in the early game. You’re forced to truly explore your world to find chests and valuable items to make progress. In hard mode, on the other hand, most of the progress you make is simply reliant on boss fights and combat. These two things alone will always be why I prefer preh hard mode Terraria. My favorite thing about the game in general has always been the player freedom and exploration.

Is Pre-Hardmode Terraria better than Hardmode? Let’s talk about it.

  1. Pre hardmode is allways my favourite, especially in modded tararia. i already said, and i will say it again, pre hardmode has the best bossfights, wats better:

A hard and stressful bossfight, where you have almost no armour, low mobility, a bad weapon, and a small arena, and you have to use all little trinkets and things to not die, and you also have to look in the chests for a better weapon mid fight.
Or spinning in circles, with 84662575220000 milion layers of invinsibility, perfect dash, and unlimited flight.
I also love exploring the world, pre hardmode modded tararia is where you find all the new structures, and get to know about how good the mod is. I know i can just not use OP things………… Thats a pretty good Idea, thanks myself

  2. Exploration being essentially mandatory is the sole reason why I think pre hard mode is better, great video dude keep up the good work ❤

  3. Design wise, pre hardmode is a more compactly made game that the world of terraria was originally built around. The sheer amount of high quality content and fun found in hardmode is great and super impressive, but if I want the most densely quality terraria experience, pre hardmode is always my go to

  4. yes hard mode is worse because most of the progression is related with rng: rare enemy drops, rare enemies, rare drops from rare enemies, boss drops but nothing much craftable

  5. I feel like a way to help with the boss order issue is that there should be more hardmode bosses that aren't mandatory to progress but give great loot, as right now there's only Fishron and EOL (also queen slime but her loot isn't that great)

  6. I think not many people are that happy to explore for HM ores and everything beyond. There's nothing to find anymore exept a lucky mimic spawn maybe, and thats the only thing I can think of. Or more annoying enemys when just digging arround for life fruit and Chlorophyte.
Maybe it's just magically alot of fun for the first few times

  7. If you want the pre Hardmode experience in hard mode try Fargos soul mod. The majority of my map has been explored finding the random items I need

  8. Hardmode definitely has a lot less of a focus on exploration, but I do like how they used mimics to, well, mimic the concept of exploring to find chests to find cool accessories. Other than that though, exploration is minimal in hardmode unless you count the jungle temple and post plantera dungeons
