What if Terraria Had Infinite Worlds? #terraria
If Terraria had an infinite world option, would it actually work for the game? Let’s talk about the pros and cons. The biggest benefit would be the ability to have the corruption and crimson in one world, making it way easier to 100% the game. Having infinite resources in general would also be a big help. No need to plant more acorns over and over again if you run out of trees, cuz you can’t run out of trees. To be honest though, I think infinite worlds in Terraria have far more problems than benefits. For example, where would the celestial pillars spawn? If your world was infinite, they could hypothetically appear anywhere and they would be impossible to find. Valuable structures like the dungeon or jungle temple would also become a lot less special since there would need to be multiple of them in one world. The wall of flesh would no longer be challenging either because with an infinite hell biome, you can take as much time as you want. Those are just a few issues out of many. And ultimately, I don’t think Infinite Worlds would work in Terraria.

With the celestial pillars they could make it that they'd spawn within a certain distance of the world spawn

i once saw an idea i like where when you get to an ocean on your world you can go to another one like continents

Its just a large world but the ocean is like 300 blocks and after it there is everything else. The pillars and dungeons and all that is in the same place
I just want an extra large world size that makes it so you can go to the other side of the ocean and theres another land mass with the other world evil on it
Very easy to solve problems
Simple solutions. Seeds have altered bosses before so tweak the infinite one to change WOF speed. Make it a question of killing it before it outruns you.
As for world evils, make it only detect the evils in the places you’ve generated. If it’s outside those areas it’s never been generated anyway. If not that, make them only appear near spawn before the oceans.
I think ways to help solve this are:
1. Pillars would spawn in correspondence to where the center spawn would be.
2. Oceans would be massive and would eventually reach land again.
3. Jungle Temple would be located in the Jungle closest to spawn.
4. The Dungeon would remain the same.
5. Corruption/Crimson and Hallow spread can probably be dealt with by using player position variables. For ex. If the player has passed two Ocean Biomes, then said Biome spread near the opposing end of the Ocean will be disabled until the player is near it. Therefore the Biome Spread only happens to whatever biome they are closest to.
5. Underworld Ruined Houses can spawn every few thousand tiles.
6. A waypoint system would greatly help players with fast travel which could be unlocked upon reaching certain distances.
7. Wall of Flesh could be on a time limit. The horrified debuff could be the timer and when it reaches zero, the player dies or the Wall of Flesh disappears.
8. The map would have a certain zoom out point depending on where the player is currently at.
9.Multiplayer could tell one another what section of the world they are in.
I have a idea, there would be npc at the end of the world and all the worlds would be different, example one is all corrupt, and one is always eclipse, one would have no chests, one would have no life crystals, or a world that’s all dirt
Make it so the wall of flesh has limited time or sum and moon lord crystals could spawn within a span of a large world
Honestly I'd be glad for an XL worldsize at most
Here is how to fix those problems
Celestial Pillers- put them around spawn
Dungeons- that's not a problem
Wall of flesh make the fight I timed battle if you run out of time you die
Finding those pillars would feel like stardust crusaders
WHERE WILL THE OCEAN SPAWN?
There was a mod that I found that has a really cool way of making the world infinite. It links all your worlds together by making you take a boat to one of the world borders and traveling to another world
Have it be infinite like noita does
personally I think the way the pillars could be fixed is if they spawn 250-500 blocks away, evenly spaced out from the dungeon you killed the cultist at
maybe the pillers spawn in only generated chunks
What I thought of was where does the beach spawn? How do you find the shimmer. And many more
What about oceans?
All of these have super easy fixes…
I would go the starbound route where they just circle and you do not realize it
I think a "looping" world would work better, where, when you reach one side, like at the ocean, if you continued you'd find yourself on the other side of the world
aka, if you went to the left edge of the ocean, instead of finding an invisble border, you'd just loop around to the right ocean

i don’t get why people seem to think if the world was infinite that things like the dungeon and jungle temple would have to spawn multiple times. they wouldn’t. they could literally spawn the same distance from spawn like they do now and it would be 100% fine
we would be millions of tiles from the angler so thats good
is anyone even dying to the wall of flesh hitting the wall before they either die or beat it?

I think it will work if the moonlord already defeaded and the crimson or coruption will only spreqd in betwen border
