Starting some HUGE Terraria projects! | Python’s Realm (Terraria 1.4.4 Let’s Play) Episode 22

It’s been exactly two months since the last episode of this series. So, let’s see if I can remember how to do this. Starting off with my classic intro. Hello everybody. My name is Python and welcome back to another episode here of Python’s Realm. Two months since the last episode of this series. I’m not proud of that. Not by any stretch of the imagination, but it was a break that was much needed and lots and lots of stuff has gone on. Basically, if it wasn’t one thing, then it was another thing. And yeah, it’s only now that I feel like I’m able to start getting back to videos. And more to the point, I actually feel like wanting to come back to making videos. So, yeah, I really do hope you’re excited for the return of this series. Today, we’re returning with a big old world landscaping project of epicness. We’re going to come back nice and chill and we’re going to be making ourselves a whole bunch of custom biomes today. Oh, hello there, random gold squirrel. How you doing? Wow, this is what our gold critters collection is looking like. That’s not a bad amount of gold critters so far, but I do know that there’s quite a lot more still to come, isn’t there? That would be quite the bragging rights goal to go for in the series, wouldn’t it? try and capture every single gold critter in this game. Oh, that’ll be a difficult one, I think. But anyways, we’ve got not just one custom biome that I want to make. Not even two, not even three, but actually four custom biomes. I want to make myself a surface mushroom biome. I want to make myself a graveyard biome, a custom crimson biome of the surface, and also the beginnings of a new large project, which are basically going to be biome boxes right down at the bottom center of the world. What I’d like to do is set up my first biome box, which is going to be an underground hall biome box. And the reason we’re doing that is for, of course, farming purposes. Getting ourselves a bunch of souls of light, maybe some crystal shards, all that kind of lovely stuff. And already my goals have been interrupted by the arrival of this here blood moon. But hey, there is a little bit of a silver lining. And that is we actually have a mini boss to take down, which I completely forgot about, and that is of course Dread Nautilus. And you get Dread Nautilus to spawn in by fishing in a hard mode blood moon. So, all I need to do is head my way over to an ocean. I’m going to go to the left hand side ocean and then pretty much just sort of get on with this. A sonar potion probably would have been a good idea. Oh, good grief. Okay, literally first time going. Okay, maybe I should do a little bit of a zoom out action here. Uh, I must admit, uh, my knowledge of Dread Nautilus is like near zero and I’m already almost dead. Oh boy. Can I take this guy down? Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. He’s nearly done. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on, Python. You got this. You got yourself a whole bunch of deadly spears. Yeah. I mean, to be fair, I was overpowered going into that battle, but hey, that’s another thing. checked off the old beastiary list, isn’t it? Yeah. All right. Well, that was a nice little distraction. Well, I say nice. I’m not entirely sure that’s the right word. An interesting distraction. Whoa. I’ve just realized the damage of the sanguin staff. 61. What does this thing do? 68. There’s not a lot in it, is there? You know what? We were just talking about the beastiary. How about we do a little bit of a beastiary check? What do we got going on? 55% of the dudes in this game have been discovered so far. So, if I was to do just a little bit of a filter here, blood moon. Yeah, that’s what we want to be looking at. There’s still a ton of dudes from the blood moon to take down. Quite what they are, I don’t know. But hey, check this out. The chattering teeth bomb. That is a dude that spawns from the clown. So, it’s little tiny things like this that we really need to think about in terms of, you know, things we need to grind in order to 100% our beastiary here. Oh, wow. We finally got ourselves a banana rank. I mean, it’s not exactly powerful at our stage in the game now, but still a nice thing to have, I guess. Do you know what? I think I’ve just figured out one little set of mods that we could be trying to grind. And that is things like the corrupt penguins and corrupt goldfish and all that kind of stuff. Right. So, if I was to head on over to this water source we have in our corruption here. Maybe there’s a corrupt goldfish. There is indeed. Okay, there’s one. Nice. Whether or not that is someone I’ve already taken down to complete that section of the beast area, I have no idea. I haven’t really memorized what I have and haven’t taken down yet if I’m honest. When it comes to the vicious and corrupt goldfish, bunnies, and penguins, actually those guys should be pretty easy to take down, right? All we need are four regular penguins to spawn in, for example. Then we force a blood moon to spawn in and the act of doing so converts the regular penguins into the corrupt and vicious penguins. Right now, we could take them down and then that’ll be that section of the BC area complete. So, there we are. We have ourselves the corrupt goldfish right here. And in terms of like all of the corrupt and vicious critters, it actually totals up to six. And we have one of them done. So that means five of these are the corrupt and vicious critters. Wait, we got a desert key. When the heck did we get that? I have absolutely no idea. I probably edited it in, but I didn’t react to the fact that I got it cuz I didn’t even realize I got it until now. Oh my gosh, that’s amazing. Now that we have this desert key, I could think of only one thing that I want to do right now. Where are you, desert chest? Ooh, a tabby. Nice. I always thought that it was after defeating Gollum that you had the new dungeon enemy spawn in, but no, it’s actually after Plantera. I’ve been playing this game for 14 years. Quite how I wasn’t able to remember that. I’ll never know. But hey, if we manage to get ourselves a black belt while we’re down here, we might be able to make ourselves the master ninja gear. Oh yeah, found the desert chest. And here we are with the desert tiger staff. And so far as I can remember, this works in much the same way the Abigail’s flower works in that you summon it and reummon it and reummon it. And for every summon, the little minion becomes more and more powerful, doesn’t it? My only problem is the fact that I’ve only just got my sanguin bat dudes on me. Am I really about to take them off already in favor of a desert tiger? Uh oh, wait, no, hang on. I think I need to take off the sanguin bat all together and then just keep on reummoning. Yeah, this guy’s just got bigger. 150 damage on average with my desert tiger. That’s not too bad going, actually. Wait, there’s two bone leaves down there. What the heck? Hey, at least we got ourselves the black belt, though. Nice. We already have our goal completed. Hey, look at this. Pass me the foresight to create three loads of tiger climbing gear. So, when it comes to me, you know, filling out all of these here loadouts, I’m going to have master ninja gear on all three of them. Nice. Good job, Pass Python. There we are. Our first master ninja gear of the series. Nice. And now what I want to do, totally not getting distracted away from my landscaping goal once again, is test out just how effective the desert tiger staff is versus the sanguin staff. And I think what I’m going to do is I’m going to try and make this as fair a test as possible. I’m going to go for ruthless on the desert tiger staff as well, which technically, yes, means that this will do more damage, base damage anyway, than the Sanguin staff. But yeah, I want to test out the DPS values of these two weapons. So, I think what we’re going to do is something very, very basic in that maybe we just take down the eye of Cthulhu. So, here we are. We’re looking for a little bit of ruthless. Although with that said, look at how expensive this is. My goodness me. Okay, maybe we go for godly on both instead. I mean, yeah, look at this. This is far less expensive to reforge. There we are. So, godly sanguin staff 59 summon damage. Godly desert tiger staff 70 damage. So, there’s a good gap in the base damage that these two do. And I tell you what, while we’re here, why don’t we try and get ourselves a little bit of oh, I don’t know, either warding or lucky on my master ninja gear here. Hey, lucky. There it is. So, we’re not rolling in with any buffs or anything like that. We’re just going with our current load out. So, let’s go ahead and summon in our desert tiger as many times as we are able. I think it’s five minion slots we have currently. So, yeah, we’ve got sort of the midsize tiger going on. So suspicious looking at eye and let’s do this thing. Uh buddy, there we go. 700 damage per second I think I saw on the high side there. And yeah, any second now. Yep, there we go. Done and dusted. Not too bad. But now what we’re going to do is take off the desert tiger. We’re going to add on our sanguin bat dudes. Three, four, five of them. Okay, so it is five minion slots we have. And now we’re going to do this again. I anticipate this one being taken down even faster. Uh although with that said, wait, is it being taken down faster? I don’t think it is. 300 damage per second. The desert tiger staff might actually win this. I thought it would be the opposite way around. I thought my sanguin dudes would just absolutely stomp the desert tiger, but no, I’m staggered. I’ve learned something new today. All right, bye-bye sanguin dudes. I’m getting my Desert Tiger dude back on. This guy is amazing, apparently. Oh, I just realized I’m being a huge derp. Why have I got both the shield of Cthulhu and Master Ninja gear on? That is not at all necessary. Bye-bye, Shielded Cthulhu. Your usefulness, I’m afraid, has come to an end. But I won’t sell it. Instead, I’ll just put it away in a chest somewhere. Before we get on with creating our custom biomes, I wanted to quickly show you a little bit of a thing I’ve been working on here. Earlier on, I was talking about how it could be awesome to try and get ourselves a full collection of gold critters. And arguably the most difficult of those gold critters to get is the gold water strider. Water striders have very specific spawn conditions. And what I’ve got going on here is a large but flat water body here in the jungle. According to the wiki, water striders spawn on bodies of water on the surface during the day. And apparently they will only spawn if there are sand or jungle grass blocks nearby. So yeah, what we’ve got going on here with this body of water in the jungle, believe it or not, this is a valid spawn location for water striders. Not only do we get water striders spawn here, but we also get frogs. So, not only will we have a chance of eventually getting ourselves a golden water strider from here, we might be able to get ourselves a gold frog as well. The only other spawn condition to bear in mind when it comes to water striders spawning in is apparently they won’t spawn in if the current wind speed is above 20 mph. So, yeah, like I say, very very particular spawn conditions. Do you know what? There is quite a lot of me that is thinking that I am doing my world projects in the wrong order. Look at just how much of the surface here has been overcome by some evil or another. We’ve got corruption. We’ve got hallow. I mean, just look at it. It’s everywhere. Even past the dungeon on the left hand side here. Even more corruption. We go onto the right hand side of the road. Look at that. Yet more corruption. And it spans for a very, very long distance. and then we’re into the jungle. So, in terms of sort of the normal overworld biomes, you know, just a bog standard forest, we seem to be lacking. So, there’s a good amount of me that thinks that before we go about trying to make custom biomes in this world, maybe we should instead cleanse the world. And I know this is a large world and that is going to take some time. So, question, do we have a cleansinator already? No, we don’t by the looks of it. Okay, so that means we need to go find ourselves the steampunker. Here she is, Zelda. And there it is, the Clenaminator. Now, I know I know what some of you folks are going to be thinking right now. You might be thinking that I’ll be able to chuck this Claminator into the Shimmer for it to become the I think it’s the Terraformer, right? But unfortunately, that is not the case right now. You actually have to have taken down Moon Lord first as I shall demonstrate to you folks right now. So in goes the Clantaminator. And yeah, we just pick it right back up. It does not transmute in terms of how I want to approach Operation Cleanse the World. Instead of doing what I usually do, which is digging a whole bunch of elevator shafts and therefore making the surface of my world look really, really ugly, I’m actually going to flip this on its head. We’re going to dig ourselves a bunch of horizontal shafts and then we’ll be able to spray our contaminator up and down as opposed to going left and right when we have ourselves a whole bunch of helvators. Now, the cool thing is even just the first horizontal shaft we’re going to dig. It should be enough for us to cleanse the entire surface of our world. And then after that point, all of the evil will be limited to underground. Oh, this is actually a genius idea I’m having right now, isn’t it? So, what I need to do is I need to get some prep work done. And I think how I’m going to do that is by trying to make myself an ultimate mining loadout. Unfortunately, in order to make our ultimate mining loadout, I need to have access to shrewmite for shrewite digging claws. So, we need to make ourselves like a rudimentary mushroom biome. And I think what I’m going to do is I’m going to do it here on this left hand side. We got ourselves a nice flattened bit of land. I just need to sort of encase the eventual biome so it doesn’t spread too far. And then, yeah, we should be able to get the trouble to move in. Check this out, though. I think we’ve got ourselves a pretty strong starting point for our ultimate mining load out. I’ve got the mining armor on right now and we are making quick work of all the dirt you see here. But there are plenty more things we can add to our loadout. Ancient chisels, for example, mining potions and exquisitely stuffed food buffs. In terms of how far I want to stretch this mushroom biome, I think we’re just going to go until we hit the first corruption chasm on our left hand side here. Seems like a natural end point, right? All right. So, down goes a bunch of mud stone. This is an uncorruptible block, so it works quite nicely. Really? I just got killed by a green slime. Yeah, that’s not embarrassing at all, now is it? Anyho, a little bit of a mini progress update. We’re very, very almost there with the spreading of the mud blocks. And then upon those mud blocks, we’re going to plant down a bunch of mushroom grass seeds. To maximize the amount of mushroom grass blocks we have around here though, I think what I’m going to do is I’m going to do my usual thing of adding some under the floor lighting because then the mushroom grass could spread to the blocks surrounding the torches. What a stroke of luck. It’s nighttime and still sort of the beginning of nighttime. So, I might actually be able to get myself down to a mushroom biome, fashion into existence a little bit of a house down here. Maybe move the dry out down here. And then I could just purchase myself a whole bunch of mushroom grass seeds. Ooh, hello. Got ourselves a truffle worm as well. Nice. And ladies and gentlemen, just like that. I mean, you know, this might be a slightly flooded base, but it should still do the job. All I have to do is go away, come back. There she is. And then here we are. Mushroom grass seeds. And would you look at this? This is already officially classed as a mushroom biome. Very, very good. So, all we need to do is get ourselves a little bit of a house set up here and then the truffle can move in. There we are. That’s a decent looking mushroom, right? Although, it does kind of look like something else, but we’ll gloss over that for now. We need to get ourselves in some mushroom background walls and of course some furniture. And then the truffle can move on in. And there we are. Housing is suitable. Any minute now, we should have the truffle moving. While we wait, we can see what we’ve got already for our ultimate mining loader. We have ourselves an ancient chisel, which is great. Oh, and there we are. Speak of the devil. The truffle has just moved in. All right, before we say hi to the truffle, I want to see if there’s a quicker way of getting these random mushroom trees to spawn on in. Maybe we could use fertilizer on the ground. Uh, no. Okay, that doesn’t work. What if I was to place down an acorn? Would that convert into a mushroom tree? No. And placing down glowing mushrooms, of course, will just, you know, place down a glowing mushroom block. So, yeah, we really are just going to have to wait for random trees to spawn on in here. Eh, never mind. Anyway, let’s get ourselves up to the chopper and say hello. Hello there, Shimmedi. What I’m looking for is the auto hammer. So, check it out, folks. We’ve already got 33 chlorophy bars. That should be a pretty healthy amount to start us off with. At this point, I’m literally only looking for the shroomite digging claws. And then we’re going to begin on our horizontal shaft digging. Uh, how many of these I actually need, I don’t know. Oh, wow. I was bang on the money. 18 Shmite bars. Shite digging claw. 46 melee damage. 200% pickaxe power and 125% axe power, but it comes with minus one range, but I don’t think that’s really the end of the world. So, over to the Goblin Tinkerer we go. Ah, it’s nice and cheap. Okay, so that does actually come with plus speed, but not as much plus speed as if we had a little bit of light. And there we are. In fact, plus 17% speed. I guess strictly speaking, if we really wanted to get the most amount of effect of this out of this here ancient chisel, what we should do is get ourselves plus melee speed. So, I think what we’re looking for is actually violent. And there we are. Plus 4% melee speed. I dare say there’s still a good amount of stuff to be done if we really want to try and get ourselves the ultimate mining load out. But what we’ve got going on right now should do us for a good amount of time. Unfortunately, we have no access to major improvements to all stats. So, medium will have to do. And then we’ve got ourselves a mining potion on us as well. So, let’s see what happens without the buffs on. This is the mining speed we can achieve. Wow, that is mindbogglingly quick already. Wow. And with the buffs activated, this is the mining speed we can achieve. That is actually ridiculous. I mean, is there even any point in me trying to get an even beefier mining load out? I can barely keep up moving along and catching up to my mining. Anyway, look at it. Oh, what the Oh, okay. Uh, random corrupt mimic in the mix. She scared the life out of me. Unfortunately, my friends, I am very close to running out of time for today’s episode. So, I think what I’m going to do is I’m just going to do the left hand side of this first horizontal shaft just to show the proof of concept more than anything. And then, yeah, as the series progresses, we’ll continue to add in some more horizontal shafts for cleansing our world. But yeah, for now, let’s keep on going with this lefthand top shaft. All righty, my friends. And there we are. We have bumped into the lefthand ocean cave. So yeah, that’s about as far as we can go on this left hand side. All we have to do is get ourselves some torches placed down just so we can see what we’re doing. And then we need to go grab our claminator. So there’s the claminator. There’s all of our pure green solution. And to make that solution go just a little bit further, we are going to make ourselves some ammo reservation potions. Double card, moononglow, and bottled water. And as you can see, 20% chance to save ammo. We use that in conjunction with an ammo box. And then I think we’re going to be golden. So there we are. Ammo box is on. Ammo reservation is on. And literally all we have to do now is this. all the way across the left hand side of our world. Now, obviously, this isn’t going to reach the surface in many, many cases. We might actually have to go up to the surface and then spray the contaminator down. But yeah, as you can see, we are purifying a heck of a lot of our world here. And oh my goodness me, is this satisfying. For any of you folks who don’t know the range of the contaminator, in other words, how many blocks away it will purify, it’s 60 blocks or 120 measurement units as per the depth meter or compass or whatever it is. Just to be on the safe side though, I think what we’re going to do is we are going to have the horizontal shafts be 100 units between just so there’s no chance of any evil blocks spreading that may accidentally have been left behind. So, as you can see on the center right hand side, it says level surface. We are literally at the dead center altitude wise. And honestly, that makes things a heck of a lot easier to work with. Ah, there we are. We have just about done this thing. So, what we need to do now is we now need to go up to where this number on the center right actually says 200. I just realized it’s 200, not 100. 100 equates to 50 blocks, doesn’t it? And that’s 50 blocks going above you. However, 50 blocks going beneath you, that would then add up to become 100 blocks. 100 blocks times two because each block equates to two units means that yeah, we need to go up to 200. So yeah, there we are. Proof of concept has been done. And on that successful note, it is time to wrap up today’s episode with the comment of the day. The first comment of the day in two months. My goodness me. One tired mechanic says, “Hey, Python, there’s a chlorophy extractator that can help in getting the alternate evil items and hard mode ores from silt.” You are quite right. And it’s something I always, and I literally do mean always, forget about. So, why don’t I see if I can make that right now? We have ourselves the chlorophy right there. The question is, do we have a spare extractor data? Yes, we do. Um, now the question is, do we have enough chlorophy? Ah, it’s 18. So, we need ourselves just three more chlorophy. All right, let’s go get them. There we are. 18. Enough hopefully to get ourselves the chlorophy. And, ladies and gentlemen, here we are. The chlorophy extractator. Placing silt, slush, or fossil piles into the extractor turns them into something more useful. Place contaminated blocks into the extractor data to purify them. Other items placed inside may have interesting effects. Ooh, I would very much like to see what those effects are. In fact, you know what? I’m going to go check out the wiki real quick. Let’s see what we can find out about this bad boy. I’m glad I did check out the wiki cuz actually turns out I misread the comment. I was thinking that maybe you could get like alternate evil blocks using the chlorophy extractator, but no, it actually turns out it’s more so converting tissue samples into shadow scales and vice versa. Uh, you know, getting demonite bars from crimain bars and stuff like that. So, it’s not really blocks you get. It really is items. But anyway, there’s still a couple of things I wanted to show you. First of all, when it comes to any sort of evil infinested stones, for example, pearl stone, you could chuck it into this bad boy. And would you look at that? A whole bunch of regular stone. And then we’ve got ourselves, you know, just the classic silt. And from that, we can get ourselves a whole bunch of cool stuff, including hard mode ores. So, there we are. A nice healthy top up of various ores and gems. Thank you so much for reminding me of the existence of the chlorifier extracted data. I really do appreciate it and I really do appreciate all of you folks for watching today’s episode. If you are excited for the return of content to this channel, I would really appreciate it if you’d consider dropping a like. And if I might just say at the end here as well, a huge thank you to all of you folks who have been supporting me. Whether it’s across my various social media posts that I’ve been posting all during while I’ve been away, uh whether it’s just been you sitting patiently waiting for more content to come. I really truly do appreciate it. It means the world to me, my friends. So yeah, thank you so much for watching. Subscribe if you don’t want to miss out on my future content. For now, though, folks, hope you have a fantastic rest of your day. Thanks for watching and I’ll see you folks in the next video.

  1. Hello everyone! Thanks for your support and patience as of late. I know this year so far has been particularly bad consistency wise for me and I'm very sorry about that. Although I realise the lengthy break from this channel has probably resulted in the hype for my series dying out (understandably so of course!), I still wanted to at least get the current Terraria series here finished. So yeah, the Legendary Mode LP will return shortly too… as for Stardew, I'll be honest, I'm not sure what I'm doing with that yet only again, posting only an Episode 1 then going on a large unannounced break probably would've killed all hype for that series! We'll see what happens I guess! 😀

  2. I'd love to see the Stardew Valley series back, I started playing a week ago. Would really love to learn from your videos and the wiki😁
