Is Terraria’s Rarest Armour Worth It?

The Forbidden Armor is one of the hardest armor sets in the whole game to get, needing three forbidden fragments from sand elementals, as well as an ungodly amount of adamantite or titanium. And in today’s video, I’m going to be taking a deep dive into figuring out if this armor is actually worth grinding for. If you’re new to the channel, please consider subscribing. And now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into the facts. The forbidden armor set gives the player 25 increased magic damage and summon damage, 80% extra max mana, two extra minion slots along with its average 26 defense. Comparing this to titanium armor, which I’m going to be using in this comparison because it’s objectively better than Adamantite. Titanium gives to 23% increased magic damage, 13 increased critical strike chance, 30 defense, as well as 100 extra max mana. Even though these armors seem pretty even on paper, the forbidden armor starts to stand out just because of those two extra minion summon slots. And if we look at set bonuses, honestly, they’re pretty even. The forbidden armor gives you a sand tornado that you can summon at your cursor and deal 20 base damage. Comparing this to the titanium armor set bonus of a max seven spinning titanium shards, which deal 50 damage, cannot crit, and deal some pretty good knockback, I think they’re both really even. However, overall the forbidden armor has slightly better damage stats as well as those really sexy looking two extra minion slots. And because of this, I’m giving forbidden armor the first point of the round. So, let’s see how they are obtained. And for the titanium armor, it’s really straightforward. You just need to smash some demon altars, work your way up to titanium, and smelt a total of 236 titanium ore at a titanium furnace, and then use the titanium or adamantite bars you got from this to craft yourself full titanium armor at a Myithil or Adamantite anvil. On the flip side, forbidden armor is crafted by smelting 144 titanium or adamantite ore into bars and combining them with the elusive forbidden fragments at a Myithil or a Calcium anvil. Getting these fragments is where it starts to get tricky, however, as they’re only dropped by sand elementals. These sand elementals are a mini boss enemy that spawns in a hard mode desert when the winds exceed 30 mph, and this can take quite a time to grind out for. Luckily for me, I got it on like my third day of AFKing at my bed in the desert, and all three elementals spawn in the same sandstorm. However, these can be quite rare and honestly quite annoying to get. Overall, the titanium armor requires almost 100 extra ores to be mined to craft it, but the forbidden armor requires you to beat a very rare and niche mini boss three times in a row. So, I’m giving this point to the titanium armor for being slightly easier to obtain. The scores are tied up 1-1 going into the third and final round of the video where using the two same loadouts and only switching armor sets, I will attempt to take on the easiest mech boss, Skeletron Prime. And going into this with titanium armor first, it was looking pretty good, but the DPS was not able to keep up with the insane aimbot that Prime was laying down on me with his laser cannon. I actually tried this fight so many times and not once was able to beat Prime. The armor also like performed equally as bad as the destroyer just for a benchmark. But obviously, you could chalk this up to just a skill issue and forget about it. But something changed inside of me when I put on that forbidden armor. I’m not sure if it was placebo or if the armor is just genuinely that good, but I felt like the extra summons as well as the overall increased magic damage was just obliterating Skeletron Prime. I took some hits, but overall my DPS was high enough to take out his Prime cannon before it could kill me, and the rest of the boss was history. One more thing to note was that the set bonus absolutely cooked the destroyer, and I was able to take him out as well. This point is easily going to the forbidden armor. And now it’s time for a bonus point. swag. Which of these two armor sets gives you the most aura, the most drip, and the most brriz? And I have to give this point to the forbidden armor as well. The black and gold just makes all the HU go crazy. Okay, looking back on this, what the flip was I saying? What? Obviously, the forbidden armor is worth it to some extent, but it’s also worth noting that all of these tests were done on master mode, and if you’re on expert or normal, it definitely won’t be worth all the extra grinding just for the small DPS boost. Once again, thank you all for watching. And if you like content like this, don’t forget to like and subscribe. And I will see you all in the next one.

In this video I compare the OP Forbidden Armour set in Terraria to the Titanium armour set in order to see if it is worth doing all of the extra grinding to obtain this rare armour. 1. Like it's colder cousin the Frost armor, the Forbidden armor offers a lot of flexibility when it comes to viable weapons. Whips are great when you're out of mana, and benefit from Cursed Flame (fixed dps+knockback boost) or Ichor Flasks (cut defense). Magic Weapons obviously have range, and are safer with bosses. And having more than one minion is always good.

  2. I mean, the Forbidden Set's pretty good for armor mixing. Titanium Headgear, Forbidden Robes, Crystal Assassin Pants is a pretty good combo, with high magic damage, good mobility, and an addition minion.
