Is Stardew Valley Getting a New 1.7 Update!?
Hello everyone, welcome back to the channel. Today we are diving into a mystery. A mystery that has got the Stardew Valley community buzzing. It’s been over 8 years since Stardew first launched, and yet the game continues to thrive with updates that somehow breathe new life into this world that we thought we already knew. The massive 1.6 update added more than anyone expected. new festivals, new items, new NPC dialogue, new secrets, and so much more. And that was 16 months ago. But now, something strange is happening. There are whispers, rumors of a possible 1.7 update floating around in the air. Some fans thought that 1.6 six was the end, the final farewell. But others have noticed subtle hints buried in tweets, dev comments, and interviews that something more might be coming, something that we weren’t supposed to notice. Meanwhile, Concerned Ape has shifted much of his focus to the next big project, Haunted Chocolier. A game that seems to carry the spirit of Stardew, set in the same universe even, but with a darker, colder, and more mysterious edge. So, what does all this mean? Is Stardy Valley truly finished or will there be a surprise 1.7 update? Today, we’re putting all the pieces together from developer clues to community theories to uncover what might be next for the valley that we’ve spent years exploring. You’re not going to want to miss this. So, after the 1.6 update, Concerned 8 made it very clear that his main focus was now on his next project, Horned Chocolatier. He wanted to push aside Stardy Valley for a long time to allow him to move on with his new game. He himself gave us this impression that Stardy Valley could potentially have its book closed. He even said he thinks it’s in the perfect place to the point where he could just leave it alone and be happy with it. The future was unclear and it didn’t look promising. I even thought myself that Stardy Valley was finished. 1.6 was the last update would ever get. That all seems to have changed over these last few months. And it all started with an interview that happened eight months ago on a YouTube channel called Nintendo Life. Concerned 8 was on there and he was asked why after 8 years is he still creating content and updates for Stardew Valley even whilst he’s working on a brand new game. And this was his answer. I have like so many ideas for Stardio. I feel like I could work on it for the rest of my life. Just keep improving it, adding more stuff to it, more content, like fleshing out the existing content. That’s the main thing I want to do is like flesh out the existing content. And okay, here’s another thing. It’s it’s so popular because of that, you know, I feel like I want to keep it alive, keep it fresh. Now, if you want to go over and watch this interview and the video yourself, I will link it down below so you can watch it in full detail. And to me, this is very promising. This is heartwarming to hear. Nobody knew what was next for Stardew, but hearing Ape’s comments like this just brings us so much hope for the future of this game. And it is very clear that he finds it hard to step away from Stardew Valley. It’s his baby, his pride and joy. Plus, he really cares about us, the fans, the Stardew community. And even though he thinks that Stardew Valley is in a great place and he could just leave it there, he’s just got so many ideas floating around in his brain, just keeps his creativity flowing. Now, in another recent interview with PC Gamer, a question popped up asking if he had a cut off point for Stardew Valley. This was his answer. It’s at that place right now cuz the 1.6 update is pretty settled at this point. Um, there was ongoing console ports and bugs and bug fixes and all that stuff, but it’s pretty settled now. So, I’m committed to like not working on Stardy Valley until I’m done with Haunted Chocolier. Now, am I ever going to completely cut off Stardy Valley? I don’t think so. It’s I’m never going to say that because there’s been times I said that in the past and I always ended up making another update. So I don’t think there’s ever going to be like you know it’s done it maybe when I pass away then you can you can say the book is closed. Now this just gives us even more promise and belief that this isn’t the end for Stardw Valley. I just think it’s impossible for concerned ape to walk away from it. Even after 8 years and while working on another game he just can’t stop dishing out free content for Stardew. is mind-blowing. This guy is a breathing legend and I hope he lives forever because that means the book will never close. Now, we’ve got to take into account that if Stardy Valley does get another update, like he mentioned here, it’s not going to be until Haunted Chocolier is finished. Now, that’s a little worrying because Concerned Ape did say himself that Haunted Chocolier is quite far away and he’s planning to release that within the next 5 years. But that got me thinking, are you telling me that Stardy Valley is not going to get another update for 5 years? Possible. Are we going to seriously wait for an update that long? The way that Concerned Ape speaks about Stardy Valley, saying he doesn’t want it to sizzle out, that kind of contradicts what he just said with doing the next update when Haunted Chocolier is here. Because that if that is a possible four or five years away, then Stormy Valley might sizzle out. I feel like it needs content within that time. Now, to back up this theory, in more recent months, we’ve had even more information from Concerned Ape himself regarding a new upcoming Stardy Valley update and the future of the game. He appeared as a guest on the Tiger Belly podcast a few months ago, and he was asked, “Are there other updates coming to Stardew Valley?” He responded by saying this, “Well, I won’t confirm that there is, but there might be. I’ve said it in the past. I’m never closing the book on Stardew Valley. There may always be future updates. And I will tell you this, if there was going to be another update, I wouldn’t even announce it this time until it is completely finished. And I mean, I want it to be done on all the platforms first. Now, again, if you do want to watch the whole podcast and any of the interviews mentioned, I will link them all down below so you can listen to them in full detail. I highly recommend that you do. But this podcast and interview specifically was probably my favorite one that made me super excited because he practically announces a 1.7 update. He said himself there may always be future updates. This was a few months ago, guys. While he is currently kneedeep in Haunted Chocolier development, the man is out here saying he wants to create more updates for Stardy Valley. It’s also interesting that this time around, for the first time ever in Stardew Valley history, he finally states that any future updates from here on will now release at the same time on all platforms. Something that fans have been begging for. It always came to PC first. And the main reason for this apparently was because it all began on Steam for him. He feels like he owes it to Steam. Steam is, you know, is is bread and butter. and he almost uses Steam as almost like a test because any bugs and any major problems that occur on the PC, he can make sure they’re polished and fixed ready for the console updates. But that does leave a lot of unhappy people, people who don’t have PCs who rely and wait on console updates. Sometimes you can go nearly one full year waiting for this update to release on consoles. It it is a little unfair and I can understand the frustration in some people. So this time we aren’t going to get that. If it comes for PC, it’s going to be available on Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation. Incredible. So, that is all of the comments made in recent months from interviews and podcasts from Concerned Ape himself speaking about updates for Stardy Valley. So, to break this down, Stardy Valley is not over. The book is not closed. There are always going to be future updates. That is what we know. There will be a 1.7, but we might not see it for quite some time, and everybody will get the updates at the same time on all platforms. But one thing is for certain, it is not the end. There is still a lot more to come with Stardy Valley, which is super super exciting. Now, regarding all of this exciting information with a possible 1.7 update, I wanted to see what topics were sparking up within the Stardy Valley community. What did people want to see if we were to get another update? And one thing that I kept seeing so much of were comments revolving around the community center and the social interactions with the villagers. And someone here said that they would really love more involvement with the community center. I think it would be fun if there was an anniversary festival either based on when you complete it or just an established day that the anniversary of when the town was founded that unlocks within the community center and takes place there. So, a dedicated festival, maybe let’s say you finished the community center on fall the 16th. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Every fall the 16th, it would be added onto the calendar, a little festival or some kind of event that takes place in the community center to celebrate its anniversary. I think it’s a great idea. Another Reddit user here also wanted something similar by saying more content around the community center once it is repaired. a few dates, activities that you can do with your spouse, a clothing catalog so you can try on outfits before you make them, and villagers making more comments on certain actions and achievements that you do throughout your journey. So again, someone else wanting more content within the community center, some kind of dates that you can have with your spouse. Wouldn’t that be awesome? Uh you can have a little day out down there or certain activities. But you know what I would personally like to see is more of the villagers going down there, part of their daily routines. You know, you could see Evelyn maybe doing the garden outside or Willie could be stocking up the little fish tank or or checking the water. You know, just part of their routine where it’s like a a hub for the community. It is the heart and soul of the village. Now, another user here said, “I would personally like to see Sandy, the dwarf, and Crobas have more of a life in the village. Make them have daily routines, walk around, be a part of the community.” They even said it would be nice if we could see more with Birdie. Gunfer and Marlon and and Gil attending more events or more dialogue that hints of a more exciting life than what we see or even more interactions, quests, mini friendship goals with the player. Now again, I see this pop up quite a lot. There are certain villages in Stardew Valley that don’t have a daily routine. You you can only interact through like a shop menu or something like that or in their building and that is all they do. For example, you know, Crobus is one of the most popular villages in Stardy Valley, but he just hides out in the sewers 24/7, unless you move him in on your farm as a friend. But wouldn’t it be good to see him walking around the village, interacting with people? The same with a dwarf as well. Getting involved with the festivals and events. Oh, it would just be awesome seeing these characters that don’t really do anything. Walking around, shopping, speaking with the people, it just makes the community as well feel even more lively, more people. And it doesn’t stop there, though. More people are asking for so many things such as this NPCs interacting with each other, especially postmarriage. NPCs greeting the farmer the way they do each other. More cut scenes with the villagers. Our farmer to be able to choose a birthday and receive gifts on that day. More marriage events and postmarriage content. New baby cut scenes with Harvey announcing the gender in the clinic. Kids being able to grow up and do more tasks around the farm with a daily routine. Being able to go to Ginger Island with your spouse. Wedding anniversaries. A new family in the town. Villagers showing up on the map after a certain heart goal. More available marriage candidates like Sandy, Gus, and the wizard allow villagers to visit our farm. Set up and go on dates with our partners. I mean, the list goes on. There are some amazing ideas, and I couldn’t agree more. Stardy Valley needs more social interaction with the villagers, our spouses, kids, and animals, and the community itself. Don’t get me wrong, players are asking for far more bigger ideas like brand new areas such as Zuzu City, an accessible train station, new buildings, animals, upgrades, etc., but we’ve seen that come to previous updates. And they are big major things. I couldn’t help notice the thing that I see the most of is the social side of Stardew Valley. Players really want to feel like they are a part of the community. Being able to get married, have children, and live our very own farm life is the heart and soul of Stardew Valley. And we need to touch upon this more. rather than feeling like an outsider on a farm away from everyone else. Seeing a major update like Zuzu City is just unreasonable. It just doesn’t seem possible. Concerned AP is currently working on Haunted Chocolier. Yes, he’s got a little team with him now, and he doesn’t do these updates alone for Stardew Valley, but seeing something major like that just seems so out of the ordinary and so far-fetched that I don’t think it will ever happen. But I do really think that we’ll see a bit more of the social side of things in future updates with the villages and the community center and stuff like that. And one reason to why I think this could be possible as well due to a comment that concern date made himself in the PC gamer interview because he was asked what else he would have done differently in Stardy Valley and this was his response. I think if I made Sur Valley again, I would try to be a little more nuanced. Like maybe there are some positives to Jojo, you know? Like nothing is that black and white. Like in reality, there’s usually nuance to everything. I think I would have probably spent more time like fleshing out the characters more. Like, and this is something I actually have mixed feelings about cuz some of the character story lines, they’re kind of like left as cliffhers almost like you don’t there’s no resolution to certain things like uh Mayor Lewis and Mar’s like secret relationship or like Lionus even his like is there’s no re I mean I actually ended up adding in kind of a conclusion to the Lionus arc, but then there’s things like Clint, you know, I and I have ideas for how I could resolve these things, but part of me is almost like ah I wonder if I should cuz it kind of then does it like it’s closing the book in a way. I kind of like that it’s open-ended. So, it’s clear to me that the social side of Starly Valley is also on Concerned Ape’s mind. He knows that some things are needed to be fleshed out when it comes to that topic. He knows how popular of a demand it is within the community. He doesn’t have much time to work on Stardew Valley lately with him shifting all of his time on Haunted Chocolier. So getting a huge major update similar to Ginger Island is probably off the cards. Even though he now has a team working with him, I still think future updates won’t be anything major at the moment while he works on this new game. So we should expect something smaller of scale like villager storylines, more dialogues, and a touch-up on the community center could likely be possible. And it sounds much more realistic. But that is everything that we know and don’t know about the future of Stardy Valley and the possibility of a 1.7 update. Whether Concerned Ape has more surprises in store for us or is fully focused on Haunted Chocolier, one thing’s for sure, Stardy Valley continues to thrive even 8 years later, the passion behind the game from both the developer and the community is what keeps it alive. What do you think is next? Is 1.7 real or was 1.6 the final sendoff? Drop your theories in the comments below. I would love to hear them. But if you enjoyed this video, don’t forget to leave a like, subscribe for more Stardew Valley and indie game content, and hit that bell so you never miss whatever comes next, whether it’s another update or a brand new adventure. Thanks for watching, and I’ll see you on the next one. Stay cozy. [Music]

I've started using mods and I think the modders are fantastic! I'm not expecting an update, but of course would welcome it if it comes!! Meanwhile, Ridgeside and East Scarp are keeping me hopping!
I’m thankful for the modders. I can see how he wants to focus on Haunted Chocolatier. It would be nice for him to release other updates but I’m glad we have other options like Stardew Valley Expanded mods, etc.
I'm gonna break protocol and comment before i listen; i want more to do on Ginger Island ; please …oh man something more for Birdie at least. Something more with the big lake in Cinder Sap Forest ?
I want jumino hut, or a simular equivalent, to work on ginger island. It's the place such structures would be most useful. The only other thing would be the auger, currently it seems more like a gimmick you get at the end of the game.
bonus; fan art is good art . I will take any update anytime. Huzzah CA; we luv ' i'm. bonus bonus ; nothing goes on in the CC is the reason i always after the first time ; go Joja.
I think ,he should think about adding little hints of connections to he's new game. like hearing a rumor from the wizard about a haunted building in another town. ect ect
I would like to see new farm animals on Ginger Island with a store there with new crops like papaya trees and other tropical fruit
Honestly as much as I would love a new Stardew update, I kind of just want Haunted Chocolatier as this point. Maybe another update after that game finally releases or is nearly finished.
As a Skyrim player I can assure everyone that as long there is a modding community may be a stardew valley update
Ai art at 1:43 I shall unsubscribe!
I HOPE THEY KIDS GROW UP IN IT
My friend and I only play on Switch. There are those of us. I personally have been very thankful for this game. Hours of joy instead of moping.
