  1. Movement can be really tough, especially if you're new to the game and I can get just feeling like it doesn't control the way you'd hoped. Not after 42 minutes, but I get the sentiment

  2. Another bad review I saw was someone who had like 30-40 hours in the game at time of review and went along the lines of:
"this game is basically impossible to progress unless you have the wiki pulled up the entire time. finding the materials needed for certain crafting recipes is basically impossible without the wiki because how are you supposed to know the pixies drop the fast clock. There are too many items that are dropped extremely rarely by such random mobs you would never know what to look for unless you look everything up."

  3. Honestly that very first one makes absolute sense given they only played .7 hours, the game really DOES suck really hard in the first hour or so of gameplay even as an experienced player, as a newbie its thw first few hours

  4. I cant get past the mechanical worm boss i have frost armor and nights edge i have the funny bow that shoots arrows from the sky and still lost
I play on mobile and idk what to do 😭

  5. no it's perfectly reason to judge a game by the first FEW HOURS
most people dont have that much time to sink into games, and terraria's esrly game sucks without a wiki.
    100% reasonable IMO

  6. tbh even for an experienced player the first 30 minutes of the game is, like, the great filter of your 2 week terraria phase. i have too many runs to count that i abandoned before eoc because i just didn't feel like dealing with the earlygame lmao

  7. "Don't judge a game by a few hours of its gameplay" – Said no sane person ever. You do realize that on Steam, you can't refund the game after 2 hours of playtime, right? And besides, if a game doesn't hook you in withing the first 30 minutes, then is it a boring, lame game. Get that "But-but late game!1!11" excuse outta here.

  8. excuse me, Minecraft rip off, terraria has more content than Minecraft, the vanilla edition itself even has more content than Minecraft, not to mention mods can add more content

  9. I don’t think saying that judging a game after the first few hours is unfair and unreasonable, as one of the most important things in any media is first impressions, as people are a lot more likely to make it to the end of anything if they are hooked by a strong impression.

  10. Bro really expects people to play 10+ hours of a game they dont like in case it "gets better" like really imagine any other games fanbase tryna pull this shi😂
"Oh no i dont really like COD that mu.." "OK BUT DID YOU UNLOCK EVERYTHING AND COMPLETE EVERY CHALLENGE? HOW CAN YOU SAY YOU DONT LIKE IT IF YOU HAVENT BECOME HYPERFIXATED ON THE GAME AND STUDIED THE WIKI LIKE A SPECIAL ED CLASS AT A TRAIN MUSEUM"
"Idk bro the movement is just kinda bori" "THATS THE EARLY GAME! YOU CANT HONESTLY EXPECT THE FIRST 40 HOURS TO BE FUN?"

  11. Nah the first review is valid. For a new player without a friend to introduce and guide them the game is very clunky, steam has a 2 hour refund policy and with the shit tutorial in terraria most of those 2 hours will be spent on the wiki. You can't ask someone to not judge a game based on limited playtime cause 1. First impressions matter and if you can't make a good first impression in the first 2 hours then people have every right and reason to dislike a game, 2 if you don't like the game from the start then you have no reason to put multiple hours into learning and perfecting the game, lots of games look different when someone else plays them than when you play them and for some the grind that gets cut out in videos is just not worth it

  12. tbh
i agree on the first one and "jungle bat"
WHY IS JUNGLE BAT KINDA HARDER THAN THOSE CAVE BATS :sob:
and also that first one rlly judges it instantly on 0.7 hours
its like joining tf2 and saying
"i dont like it its boring, why is the only gameplay called inventory and competitive" when you just played for 1 second

  13. "This is why you don't judge a game off its first few hours" is honestly such a bad argument when Steam only lets you refund a game you decide you don't want under 2 hours of play. I like Terraria, but it NEEDS to improve its early game.

  14. I was actually one of those people who initally bought the game, booted it up and didn't like it in the first 10-30 minutes since there was no hook. glad I came back some months later and pushed myself to play the game. Early game really does suck for those who don't know the buttons and npcs but once you get to mid game the game really does get fun.

  15. Judging a game off the start is completely valid, I’m tired of hearing people using the excuse “It gets better later on” if the game cant be enjoyable when I first play it then its not a good game for beginners period

  16. Uh the first few hours of a game are supposed to hook you. This is the time when a game should be judged. Either way re-logic was on something when they added the jungle bat
