I once accidentally triggerd a raid that was in a village by an outpost, and so the outpost illagers counted towards the raid, it went on for an hour until all the villagers died
This has happened in my survival world. I was in at one point. I couldn't fight the raid so I fled for my life. When I came back to the village.. the village was eerily empty.

The raids do actually ends i think you need to be within the raided area for a total of 30 minutes though
Every time a raid starts I just block every villagers doors with dirt blocks

I lost one once because of some reason all the villagers kept trying as hard as possible to get themselves killed
