When it comes to rare items, Terraria definitely has its fair share, with items like the Rod of Discord, Slime Staff and Coin Gun existing. And while all these items are incredibly hard to obtain, statistically speaking, they don’t come close to what we’re going to be looking at today, the elusive dirtiest block. 1200 hours and I just got it for the first time very recently in a new play-through. I was trashing stuff in my inventory and found it and freaked out lol.
I remember getting one of these randomly on my console world and I thought it was pretty cool.
I had no idea that had a 1 in 135,000 chance of actually happening.

Literally got this for the first time last week. Was digging out my starter base and it was only like 10 blocks beneath my spawn 😂
It's vexxing to know that literally any dirt block on your screen at any given time coukd be the Dirtiest Block and you'll never even know…

Ive found 3 dirtiest blocks, but i bomb several holes from surface to hell with dynamite to prevent spread. It has a lot of other benefits, too.
No joke I got it by expanding by my house and I was in pre hard mode in a large world
I got 3 slime staffs from illuminant slimes before I got a rod of discord 😭 (fyi each slime staff is 0.01% drop rate from the illuminant slime while the rod of discord is 0.2%, so technically i should've got 60 rod of discords before I got 3 slime staffs, but chaos elementals are rarer enemies so I can't be sure, although I think it is safe to say that 3 slime staffs is maybe just slightly rarer than a rod of discord)
On my very first playthrough ever i got the dirtiest block and a rod of discord before fighting a mech boss not knowing either of them were rare😂

I found one of these on my first full playthrough, but I threw it into a chest or something cause I kept thinking it was a real block while I was mining and it was annoying me.
I've found one in a large world recently, almost shat my pants.
i played my first ever 1.4.4 playthrough with a friend and… within 15 mins in his world i got 1 dirtiest block and we later got another one in a large world… wow
i got one while searching for my dungeon in my legendary mode and my dungeon was not there
I had started a new get fixed boi seed and I randomly got it while mining. I was super shocked given that you don’t even mine dirt in that seed until you go fairly higher up.
What if it wasn't a pet and it let you place infinite dirt? That would be interesting, but I like the pet too its interesting.

funny story: I was on tedit trying to find corruption in a SMALL world trying to get the achievement for all corruption gone.
After the map opened i jokingly said to myself "The dirtiest block is here" and zoomed into a random section of the map.
anyways i have the dirtiest block now.

Is this a new block? i have mined the whole world and never seen one
waldo is harder to find, its not even guaranteed that there's one in a world. with both waldo and the dirt its easy to just use endgame gear and find it through brute force, however you are guaranteed to find dirtiest blocks if you rip apart the world. with waldo you may have to do this for many many worlds
I prefer the Drill containmemt unit that some bombs

i got a Dirtiest Block on my last playthrough pre-endgame by random chance. had no clue how rare it was until now, goddamn.
Videos like this make me sad because I've probably found one of these before and not even realized what it was and just deleted it/left it there. 🙁

everybody knows that whatever item you are currently farming is the rarest. But then as soon as you get 1 rod of discord, you’ll get 3 more

Best to go for it in the post game with drill containment unit that also requires moon lord to be defeated to obtain this item.
The probablilities calculated in the video are only applicable to the first dirt block you mine in the world (as it gets more common as you mine more dirt), therefore it is only the rarest block if you mined a few blocks per world
