Hell bat and fishing is the most understandable megative reviews,Angler has bad personality and gives the worst quests,fish and rewards except for the bottomless bucket,and also it takes to long to get the right fish.
Combat feels like the worst thing to complain about in Terraria. There's like five hundred weapons with unique mechanics, if you don't like any of those I think you just don't like the style of the game in general
last part reminded me that one live stream where hakira explained why he didn't added shields to ultrakill and said "yeah then gitgud a**hole" because one of the members in that stream said "because its too hard"

Fishing is not a bad mechanic, the fisherman's missions are.
I have definitely died to a slime and put the game down in frustration, only to pick it up a year later and, as the kids say, git gud
