The Right Way to Play Terraria’s Ranger(?)
I’m going to try and defeat Terraria using the ranger class, but I’m going to play it the “right way.” What does that mean? Well it means I’m going to try and use as many ranger specific items as possible while also not forcing too much grind and creating as steady an increase in power as possible.
Here’s the Gameplan
– Corrupt world
– Wood bow & arrows, build house, collect torches for flaming arrows
– Explore the surface for a blowpipe
– Collect vile mushrooms from corruption and make poisoned knives
– Collect shurikens, throwing knives, and grenades while mining for platinum/gold bow. Also mine silver or tungsten for future bullets
– Go to the desert and collect fossils for bone javelin and fossil armor
– Go to tundra and find a snowball canon, craft frost burn arrows
– Defeat Deerclops with these weapons
– Obtain the pew-manic horn
– Defeat the eye of Cthulhu with these weapons
– Craft a demon bow and blow up a shadow orb, start crafting jester’s arrows. Make silver/tungsten bullets
– Get arms dealer and craft sandgun
– Use sand gun and demon bow with jester’s arrows to defeat the eater of worlds
– *harpoon has no reason to exist*
– Get a mini shark from the arms dealer and head to the jungle. Grab a boomstick and mine a meteor if it shows up
– Find the tavern keep and craft Molotov cocktails
– Find the shimmer and make shimmer arrows
– Defeat queen bee with Molotov cocktails and guns with meteor bullets
– Collect the bee’s knees and beenades from queen bee
– Get the witch doctor to arrive and purchase purchase the blowgun and craft poison darts for it
– Craft demonite pickaxe and mine hellstone until you can craft molten fury
– Defeat Skeletron with bees knees, blowgun, and molten fury
– Craft Necro armor and find handgun
– Farm for tattered cloth to summon early hardmode goblin army
– Purchase quad barrel shotgun from arms dealer
– Craft handgun into phoenix blaster
– Craft star canon
– Find hellwing bow
– Use hellwing bow with hellfire arrows, star canon, phoenix blaster to defeat the wall
– Farming is now inevitable
– Get a clockwork assault rifle and ranger emblem
– Obtain the shotgun from the arms dealer
– Obtain exploding bullets [good for knock back]
– Fight goblins for shadow flame bow
– Mine until obtain adamantite/titanium repeater and armor
– Try to craft frost armor if possible
– Obtain two magic quivers, craft one into stalker’s quiver and one into molten quiver
– Obtain onyx blaster
– Farm for Daedalus storm bow [ice bow and marrow are fine but shadow flame is just a better version of them with arguably less grinding]
– Craft holy arrows
– Farm for dart rifle and craft cursed and crystal darts
– Farm for an uzi [use regular musket balls]
– Defeat the Skeletron Prime and craft hollowed repeater [megashark is now irrelevant with the uzi]
– Craft high velocity bullets
– Defeat twins with flamethrower, craft super star shooter
– Defeat destroyer with super star shooter
– Craft crystal bullets [probably better against mechs but wanted to get a use out of high velocity bullet piercing]
– Craft hollowed armor
– Craft a chlorophyte shot bow
– Craft chlorophyte arrows
– Craft chlorophyte armor
– Defeat plantera with shot bow
– Obtain grenade launcher and Venus magnum, purchase proximity mine launcher [higher damage, less range]
– Craft shroomite armor, all three headgear, start with helmet and headgear [remember standing still increases damage and crit chance significantly]
– Craft chlorophyte bullets
– Purchase Rocket III from cyborg at night
– Obtain rocket launcher, sniper rifle, rifle scope, tactical shotgun
– Farm pumpkin moon for Jack O’Lantern Launcher, stake launcher, and candy corn rifle
– Farm solar eclipse for a nailgun
– Farm frost moon for elf melter, chain gun, and snowman canon
– Use elf melter and Jack O’Lantern launcher to defeat Golem
– Obtain Stynger and Eye of the Golem
– Craft Sniper Scope
– Defeat Duke Fishron using stynger for Tsunami
– Defeat martians for xenopopper and electroshpere launcher
– Purchase cluster rocket I from Cyborg
– Defeat empress for Eventide bow
– Defeat cultist
– Defeat vortex pillar and craft bow and gun
