What would you want to see in an End Update for Minecraft?
Idea – move phantoms to only spawn in strongholds in the overworld and in the end dimension. Then add a giant that can be tamed by defeating it in battle.
I would love to see an overhaul to the enchanting system. I liked the direction Mojang was going with limiting books from villagers, but the same should be done with enchanting itself.
I would like to see a tier system in place. It’s unfair to the already trivial combat system if a player can get prot 4 and sharpness 5 before even entering the nether.
There are already disjointed hints of magic throughout the game, so integrating those would also give a little more context to the underlying story of the game itself.
I imagine a system where a basic enchanting table would net you level 1 enchants, then after unlocking the nether you could use either souls or blaze powder to upgrade it to allow level 2 or 3 enchants. Finally the end would allow you to get max levels.
I also think a sort of attunement system should exist where you need certain materials to access certain enchantments, like guardian shards for depth strider or something like that.
The enchanting system was designed for a simpler yet more dangerous era of the game, and with the game being as trivial as it is now i believe a sharp increase in difficulty is needed. And of course, players should be playing in easy mode if they can’t survive without having every single piece of equipment utterly maxed out, difficulty levels exist for a reason.
What if there were a new ender pearl that, when thrown, would teleport the player to similar coordinates between the End Dimension and the Overworld. These new ender pearls can only be acquired in the distant End Islands. When used in the Nether, they’ll take the player to the End Dimension (similar coordinates), but the player can’t travel back to the Nether.

I just love the idea of connecting the end and astronomy theme maybe it will be peak mod
i think those gems that give you beacon effects sound pretty strong, and also like it whould replace beacons, so what about having to give a nether star to get one of those gems, that way there is still a reason to fight the wither
lapissss would be AMAZING to feed the jellyfish, because you only really use it for enchanting and once you reach enough lvls or have enough enchantment books… it's kinda useless after that.
In my opinion the End can have some really strong stuff since its kinda End-game. I think different fruits would be cool, especially related to the mobs there so maybe new fruit that makes you float/slow fall to emulate Shulkers? One of the problems in my opinion, which I feel gets touched on in your drawings at least, is that pretty much everything you want from the End is in one place. Imo they should separate and spread out the Ships from the Cities, right now you find a city and that could be your Elytra and Shulker in one place so you've got everything.
My favourite one though, coming from the idea of there being new mobs to trade/barter with, is a teleporter. They're in plenty of mods etc, and link to the End due to the Eye thats usually in them. It would feel end game so imo not too 'powerful', and also solves the problem you raise about travelling to and fro between the End and the Overworld. Really like the idea of them being a rare thing you have to find an End village to trade with, or it using plenty of resources from the End so you've got to 'conquer' it. But don't think it feels too much different to us using Nether Portals, just feels tidier and maybe adds the bonus of going between dimensions?
I have a broken idea for new tool levels (actually all tools). But it is a complicated thing
I LOVE the water idea. I’m a end game player with my base being largely on a swamp biome. I can change the color of the grass using moss, but not the color of the water.
I want all of these🥺🥺♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
I think it would be hilarious if Ender Mites could be updated to attack steve zombies, and if they have the weakness effect it triggers a conversion, like curing zombie villagers, but it turns them into an Enderman instead.
For a food source I think End Rabbits would be interesting. They wouldn't have to add a new type of meat, which I know Mojang is loathe to do, and teleporting Rabbits would be kinda funny. I also think that Phantoms should be removed from the overworld and only spawn in the end and in the nether above bedrock.
I love these ideas because every end mod and thing i see was filling a desolate void with stuff when it was meant to be devoid of life and it never felt right twT
21:20 I think unique particles could do the trick! They have done it to potions effects on the trial chambers already
the one thing i absolutely NEED is a new vault (just like the one in trial chambers) but for the loot in end cities. That's because now ANY player could have their own ELYTRA, which now is obtainable on those ships on the item frames.
There is no reason to stay in the End once you've got your "end gear", why not add some diversity and overhaul the end terrain. Make exploration an adventure. What if there was some verticality added to the end islands, keep the islands but turn them into the floating mountains of Pandora from Avatar, fill them with lush "end" inspired flora & fauna. I really dig the bouncing mushrooms idea, that feels vanilla and helps the player traverse the terrain more easily before they locate an elytra.
I agree about the portals. It'd be cool to have an end ore or a new block type that allows you to craft linkable end portals. Could be dark green for example (because by god is the dark green color is really missing from the game)
I like your idea of the friendly character. What if we had another type of endermen but they are 100 friendly and they do what villagers/piglins do. I'd also love to see like a butterfly that is similar to the bees.. the corus fruit would be cool to be a way to get to the end. You get it the way you normally would but because they wouldn't be scattered everywhere it's harder to get – it would then teleport you to the overworld/end
I think the main issue with Mojang failing to update The End (yet) is that I read that only 5-15% of players have actually fought the Ender Dragon and spent any amount of time in the End. It is considered too late game by casual players, who simply don't bother with it. I suspect Mojang, like any company that wants to keep people coming back and playing, will cater to the masses rather than the little niche groups like us. I've lived in the end, fought the dragon so many times, I don't recall. But most players simply aren't interested, I feel.
I'd like to see an expansion on the smithing system. Where instead of Netherite being the default upgrade to Diamond there would also be an End option and a Deep dark option as well. Each set would have different benefits making it more about player choice than what is just optimal. Netherite I think would make sense as giving base fire resistance and maybe higher durability. End smithing could maybe be more about tool range, movement speed/ jump height and fall resistance. Deep dark smithing could be more about defence, damage and tool speed. Maybe each set could also have unique enchantments, such as Netherite picks have an auto smelting enchantment or the armour having lava/ fire themed versions of other enchants like Lava affinity, lava walking and things like that.
It could go further into other tools potentially as well, like sheers or fishing rods having unique interactions based on the smithing upgrade, lava or void fishing for special drops that could tie into enhanced potion making perhaps
I personally think it would be interesting to have the "end equivalent" of Trading or Bartering to be called Haggling- a UI screen like with villagers, but with a bit more "randomness" that the piglins have. Maybe more common materials are worth less, so you need to give More of said item to get a higher "value" item in return, where as the "rare" items are worth more, so you don't need to give up as many to make a worthwhile exchange. Maybe there are 3 different Loot Tables of Low, Medium, and High Value, with a few low value items giving a low value return, a lot of low value or a few high value to give a medium value return, and a lot of high value items score you a high level return.
Maybe the trinkets could be displayed on the waist. Kind of like a belt that it's attached to. Or a subtle aura of colored particles around the player (these could be disabled via the graphic settings menu or they should at least not obstruct the view of the player using the trinket).
For end buildings I think some kind of small ruins are necessary as there is no way a population of whatever mob it's gonna be, is able to maintain everything they have ever built. Additionally there could be a new type of village in the end because end cities function more like a fortress instead of a place for peaceful (or somewhat peaceful) creatures. These creatures could than be bartered with, like you proposed
I think the End version of a respawn anchor should be respawn stations, which would be dotted around the end islands. It wouldn't be possible to move them, so you'd have to just find one that's conveniently located, or close enough at least. I actually planned to make something like this for an SMP I was planning at one point, using commands.
(The SMP was supposed to have a twist where the players get trapped in the End and have to solve puzzles to unlock the return portal. I also planned to add custom End biomes (very simple ones; one was obsidian islands, one was ice islands, one was cyan concrete powder to simulate cyan sand) and custom End cities with lore and environmental storytelling, including an answer to what the endermen do with all those blocks from other dimensions)
Cool ideas! I really like the portal/travel idea. So 2 things the end needs, better accessibility, and attractions.
Your brain is fascinating. ❤
End villagers could trade you a void block. It would create a block under you right before you fall out of the void. Of course, if you didn’t have Elytra or rockets or anyway to climb back up, it wouldn’t matter. But it could be a one time use item to save from those void falls.
Im not an End update wanter. Its not something I care about personally, as we got a Nether Update that was like "you can live hear now" and people used it for a gimick anda couple videos and then dipped out. And I know whatever they give us, all the annoying people will complain it isnt exactly how they want it to be. But I just like minecraft constantly being updated for all sorts of new things and new life.
I would personally much more than the end, actually make the water have a Boss with the Boss bar, or make the Warden be gaurding something, what is it the Warden off and if its THAT strong and doesnt drop anything because we arnt supposed to kill it, it isnt one of the bosses, what could the boss be that lives around there, where does that portal go. I just think theres cooler stuff to explore in the overworld. "The end" was alwasys supposed to be that, the end, you did the dragon, portal, credits roll.
But yeah this looks fun. In an End update itd have to give me environment, not just the same one sky, not just the same stone, mobs, and not like the Nether update, give me real life that grows their, they added Hogs and Striders, that i sware everyone forgets, because they are just in the middle of lava lakes, really useful to get to and slowly walk on lave, slowere then biulding over or walking. The end has void which is hard to treck, maybe a strider like mob to help, we have The Happy Ghast our first flying mount, why not a new one in the end? But other life, like people used to say and we got mod packs of "End cow" or "end chicken" but be more unique like Hoglins, Creeking, Sniffers, but make them end related! I would love a Creeking style end mob for an end biome, or just the creekins in general, Enderman attack when looked at, Creekins cant attack, they are soo connected. But just having a Jaun from the memes living on an Endmoss field, a new crop closer to wheat and beats in how its farmed and you can have a field full. Just give me life in the game and ill play it!!
I think there needs too be a way like gravel in the nether being renewable sand Maybe some type of end sand that works just like sand and red sand maybe like an end crusher block that recovers some material like end stone for end sand and even regular items like iron armor can be crushed for a bit more of the regular material and make it work with redstone so that you can hook it up too mob like farms too get more of the raw material so they don’t have to burn it all into lava and have it be fueled by an end-like source
Biomes ABSOLUTELY did make the nether update. Just remember how it looked before.
An End liquid could make a unique block when touching regular water. Just like overworld Lava and Water can make stone, cobblestone and obsidian. Maybe this could be a renewable way to obtain calcite? Gilded calcite? As a replacement for massive nether farms.
End Squid- it gives you a round, slime like item that can be made into sugar or jelly~
