Hey, I started an oceanblock 2 world and I am STRUGGLING with early game automation. I am very old school, like… IC2 and Buildcraft old, so all these newer mods are extremely confusing to me.
Currently I am attempting to automate my sluices into drawers, that part was janky (I gave each sluice a hopper, which all fed into a central chest, which in turn fed into a hopper, which THEN fed into a controller), but now I want to actually automate ore production. I assumed it would be fairly easy to use simple compacting drawers with hoppers into jars, then have those jars dump into chests connected to hoppers, into regular compacting drawers. And I am pretty sure just describing my jank just gave someone an aneurysm.
But the issue(s) I keep running into is that my hoppers won't pull out the compacted clusters and keeps pulling out the chunks. I attempted to switch to pipes, thinking maybe they needed to be pulled from the top since the top of the simple compacting drawers where the clusters are… But nope, pipes still pull chunks out. I can't make filters for the pipes because I need to automate the ores to get the resources, I haven't even unlocked steel yet, meaning I can't unlock plastic, and even then that requires even more automation.
In addition to that my storage situation is giving me a headache. I have a very basic integrated dynamics setup with diamond chests, with my current bars/ores in drawers, but it won't put the materials INTO drawers, only pull them OUT. Which is frustrating because it keeps eating my chest spaces.

Pic 1 was my old sluicing setup, I have since found a netherite cobble gen and am working on compacting the entire setup with it since it produces more stone then I will ever use.

Pic 3 is my semi-automated ore processing setup that requires me to manually turn chunks into clusters and then transport them by hand into the upper chests. On the right you can see my lava automation and netherack production and netherack crushing/sluicing setup. All very basic.
Pic 4 is the setup I am TRYING to set up to be the fully automated setup with simple compacting drawers making clusters, into jars, into regular compacting drawers for easy access to nuggets, ingots, and blocks as needed.
Pic 5 is the storage setup from the original sluice setup. It ain't fancy, and it's constantly overflowing and jamming up. I currently have no means to really deal with it so every hour or so I have to just go clear it out and toss or reorganize items a bit.
Pic 6 is my primary storage, which is NOT connected to my sluicing storage setup because I somehow already filled half of it and it has like 250k spaces. Plenty of room to grow though.
Pic 7 and final, just my lazy coke oven and foundry setup. Slowly producing coke coal to produce steel, hopefully. I could probably give it a simple automation with a hopper, a pipe, and two chests to get going on steel I suppose.
ANYWAYS, would really love any advice, I struggle with all these overly complex mods, I miss my old mods. :c
