Minecraft Spears are actually insane. The Mounts of Mayhem Update is adding a brand new weapon and enchantment. This new spear might be the most consequential update Minecraft has added in YEARS. Here is everything I’ve found so far.

im loving the spear guys!! if the spear gets another enchantment, what should it be?!
Finally new combat mechanics are being added into Minecraft.
they should add a strider mount with a spear, it can jab u in strider battles in the lava sea that will be cool. the mob could be piglins
0.87 attack speed actually means the spear is 2 times slower than the sword and as a result its actually really bad in normal pvp (outside of elytra combat), because the jab is terrible, as a comparison its dps is 18% (or 5,5x less damage per second) than the sword, the axe is only 87% worst and its still barely used, the youtuber Voyeo did a video testing it out in pvp and you can see the light leaving his eyes, it needs to be buffed
My guess is that in My ps4 single player forever world, the spear will get as much use as the mace, ill get it with all the enchantments and then leave it in a chest
Now we are missing muskets
The spear is the hoe of weapons. A COMPLETE waste of resources past stone. Only mods will make it acceptable, until Mojang allows mending with lunge it's trash.
They should add hog riders

On charge attack, it could dismount a chicken jockey!

Lunge is unfortunately incompatible with Mending.
I get why Infinity is incompatible since it would be overpowered, but this makes no sense.
Stone axes are still kinds superior early game

That deals wayyy to much durability for a simple lunge. You would be repairing it so much more than a sword. It’s very cool and I like it I just think maybe nerf the amount of durability it takes to lunge and it shouldn’t take durability to lunge with no targets

FYI at 3:05 you say the spear will attack quicker. This is incorrect, the number that is larger will attack faster. The this is calculated is 1 divided by what it says for attack speed on the weapon of the weapon so for example the netherite spear would be able to attack every 1.149 seconds which is slower then the netherite sword at every 0.625 seconds. Just as a correction so no one gets confused

Lunge is the worst enchantment to melee weapons (excluding curses)
It literally decreases the durability and it takes approximately 63 uses before breaking on a netherite spear and in the future updates, I hope mojang makes lunge compatible with mending and takes less durability
