The MOST relaxed guide to Year 1 in Stardew Valley | How to avoid getting overwhelmed
Stardew Valley can get really overwhelming and stressful, especially if you see every other guide out there which pushes you try and finish it as quickly as possible.
This is unlike any other tutorial. Instead of trying to stress you out with what you *SHOULD* do, I only tell you what’s available in the game and encourage you take things at your own pace.
Prepare to play Stardew Valley the way you want to: as relaxed as possible.
This guide is up to date with the 1.6 changes
Here is my 4 part series compiled as one easy to watch video that covers all four seasons in your first year.
*Corrections*
Spring:
– I mention that luck affects the number of monsters that spawn in the mines. I was wrong about that. It has no effect on monster spawns.
– I state that Demetrius shows up on a fixed day to offer you the fruit bat or mushroom cave: this is not true. He will arrive once you’ve made 25000g.
Summer:
– I state that you can enter any NPC building or bedroom any time of day – this isn’t true. You can access MOST buildings any time of day and SOME NPC bedrooms without heart requirements.
– I mention that there are 5 stumps in the secret woods – this is not true: there are 6.
Winter:
– I say the travelling merchant appears every Friday and Saturday. It’s actually every Friday and Sunday.
– At the end I missed out that I still need a rabbit’s foot as well

This is such a great way to introduce Stardew Valley to anyone who needs a helping hand but doesn’t need someone telling how to optimize everything.
If you don’t buy the training rod eventually after a couple of days Willie will pop up at your house and just give you one
Very chill video, love the vibe 🙂 Just a small correction: 37:22 Demetrius shows up to unlock the fruit bats/mushroom cave not on a fixed day, but after the player earned 25000g in total. I absolutely agree about Robin though!!! I am forced to choose Leah because she is the closest thing to Robin both visually and attitude-wise…
this is by far my favorite stardew valley video out there!! everything else made me so stressed out! i would love videos like this about every different skill, friendships, marriage, and everything else in the game. this is so relaxing and doesn’t make me feel like a complete idiot that has no idea what i’m doing
$2,000 for the first upgrade for the backpack? Wait till you see the price for the second and third upgrades. But I'm sure you already know this. Lol.
As a new player, this guide has been amazing. Thank you.
Ugh thank you! This is exactly why I started playing, and it took almost a week to realise unless I modded it was absolutely not going to be a 'cozy, relaxing game' for me. The day goes too fast, every guide out there says "you MUST do XYZ in the first year"! and battling my natural AuDHD inclination to do eeeeverything every day, only to pass out because I get sidetracked and midnight waits for no pixel person.
The time slow mod was a godsend, I probably would have deleted and refunded by now if I hadn't installed it. For everything else, this video has reassured me that I'm not "failing the game" if I just run around sightseeing and handing out gifts instead of min-maxing to the point of insanity.
And as a Xennial who cut her teeth on Space Invaders and PacMan on the arcade machines in the local fish and chip shop? Yes. Those machines in the pub are torture 👀👀🤣🤣
*me with 800 hours in the game*: Hmm interesting
Great guide, thanks Mo!
me personally i save mixed seeds for fiber so i got something to do on the farm in winter besides animals
Day 20 you have 189…when you wake up you gat more than 3800…???how?
i just started with Stardew Valley and your guide was so chill and helpful, i loved to watch it before sleeping and idk why but you have such a calming effect 😀 ty so much for making my day
Definitely not the target audience for this vid *stares at my nearly 2k hours* but i definitely love the premise i am a min maxer but sometimes its a nice reminder that this is a game and not everything is so serious and its okay to spend the day running gifting gifts or hell going to bed early especially for new players
As someone who has over 20 hours in the game thank you 😂
A crucial initial feature is the ability to CHANGE the LANGUAGE, which can be done directly from the game's start screen. This is essential for accommodating a global player base.
Btw you can lay in your bed to gain energy. Im not sure if he implemented it for chair or not. Cause ive always had a mod to it
this deserves way more attention.
Ooooh that’s what the spa is for! I’m new to this game and have gone to the spa but couldn’t figure out what the thing was about it. Duh! 😂thanks!
You can get the training rod in summer as the fisherman comes and asks you how fishing is going if you say you haven't tried it he'll give it to you for free
A tip to avoid frustration in the mines, especially before the backpack: you can place a chest near the mines entrance and use the elevator to go back up every 5 levels to drop things off.
Thank you so much Mo! This series was exactly what I needed. I easily go into workaholic mode in my business ánd gaming life, and watching this was literally healing <3 I hope there will be more "but relaxed!" videos PS I also LOVE you humor + ethical remarks here and there 🙂
You have been helping me a lot, this made me go through year 1 very relaxed and actually quite efficiently! I sometimes do use the wiki because i got lost 😅 i enjoyed this video so much tho! If you’re ever out of yt ideas try to make a playthrough because i enjoy you playing the game a lot!
Thank you 🥰 🐮 🐷 🌻🌾
